Sometimes people can take teasing too far. The MFers I work with are always engaging in banter and it gets exhausting.

@@wreckitjax definitely goes to far sometimes and leads to other problems

Right? I think so too. Some employees I think do this because they think they are still in highschool, or would like to think and act that way in order to "take away the stress" at work. These kind of employees should realize that they can do that outside of work or at least minimize teasing at work.

Teasing is fun if two people are enjoying it... but my partner teases my kids which is laced with sarcasm and criticism and they don't like it. He's even worse with his son who does everything he can not to spend time with his dad. I've had to really stamp down on it with how he is with my kids as it is affecting the relationship between them. Thankfully we don't live together so it's managable. He needs to understand that what he finds funny isn't always in the best interests of kids. They are not as resilient as adults.

I found this video searching how teasing affects child development. I was teased alot by my family as a kid and it caused harm. You're a very aware mother

I only pick on people that I like, a lot. Mainly because I despise taking myself seriously. Go figure

When Millennials tease, they take it too far. That dumbing down thing worked, apparently.

Is this even applicable to, let say, between a manager and rank-and-file employees? Its not applicable, right? I think this only applies between employees of the same ranks. If you call the manager "lunch bucket" I think that will be overboard already.

If I like you 😍, I tease and give you a hard time 😉 . If I don't like you, I leave you alone and stay polite 😌
If you cleverly respond, I'm yours 💋
    If you're offended...bye bye.

Not true - The nature of teasing varies. Teasing can also be malicious and a form of grooming others and seeking dominance over someone else.

@Kallista Chayil BA MA Obviously, we're not talking maliciously. That's not teasing, that's bullying.
But fun teasing is a good way to weed out the boring uptight people. If you can't take a joke, you're not the one.

@@Milestonemongerlike he said when they teased they escalated to stone-throwing and we know what it says about stone-throwing in the Bible don't we. Jesus never submitted to peer pressure. I am so very happy I chose not to get vaccinated like most of you.

It would depend on how you define teasing or a hard time.
i'm an introvert, was horribly abused by my brother and neglected by family. (be got away with a lot of heinous acts) he also liked to "tease" .. which consisted of breaking or stealing my stuff and trying to make me eat poison(he actually succeeded in force-feeding my bread that had pesticide on it once. and to this day i still can't eat raison bread.) he thought it was funny as hell.... and i was the one who couldn't take a joke.
I wouldn't let someone like you anywhere near me, the same way a dog who has been hit or kicked won't let you near it. I do NOT like being teased. I do NOT need to be given a hard time.
It's not that I'm offended by teasing and hard times. I am just annoyed and don't have patience.
However... I AM the person you can call at 2am to pull you out of a ditch- both physically or metaphorically, who will babysit your kids for free while you hunt for a job or work a double. I'm the person who will let you stay in my home and eat my food while you find a new place to live.
But i prefer polite/quiet/alone. I enjoy being aloof and guarded because that's how i maintain peace and keep my own aggression under control. MOST people don't know when to friggin STOP. it just escalates until it boils over because they lack the ability to control themselves. I have members of my family i outright avoid because they are constantly performing for some invisible audience. Everything is a joke. If they ran into the house screaming about an emergency your have to decide if its true or not. if its not true and you fall for it, you're the joke of the day. and if you don't believe them and something bad happens, you're a terrible person..
Yeah i am happy to be ignored and left alone by those people.
i'm no Lunchbucket. I do have a sense of humor, i like to joke around and laugh at absurdities.... but damned few people are allowed to get close enough to tease me. that would be like deliberately putting rocks inside my shoes and trying to run a marathon.
I also think teasing is a guys only game. they SHOULD be able to tease and give their friends a hard time. it's more natural for them as a part of establishing dominance. i don't have any desire or need for a leader, dont want to be a leader and don't need or want to be dominated.
