    I personally really like it, it fits great on my head and the sun visor works very well for me. The anti fog shield was a little tricky to install but with the help of my handy dad we did it. I wear glasses in the helmet and it works perfectly. I always wear a long neck jacket so chin ventilation's no problem for me. It fits very well on my head. But as he said, there's no radical feature, but from a 200$ helmet I don't expect that. I give it a 8.5/10!

    It's not all bad, it's super comfortable and I have a feeling it will be great in hot weather since it lets so much air through (whether you want it or not). The darker shield is perfect. I won't say don't buy it, but buy it knowing it's flaws.

      Not when you in traffic, I always have to flip it. But you can crack it easily which is nice.

      Do they have good ventilation?

  • @HavasiP

    The sun visor actually has three settings, not two as shown here. If you push down the retract button you can slide the visor down even more and lock it there, so the two buttons are touching. Not a huge deal, but there it is. Just bought this helmet and haven't tried it out in traffic yet.

    I like mine a lot. Fits my narrow head really well. A little loud and the venting could be better for Aussy summers, but for the price, I won't complain.

    • @22fret
      @22fret 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For Aussie summers it might not be sufficiently vented, but believe me, for German winters it is simply too much. I don't like wearing this helmet below 8-10 deg. Celsius very much for the simple reason that it's getting quite cold in there. At temperatures below 10 and also below zero I use my old Takai helmet which is a bit worn out but keeps me relatively warm...

  •  9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It will be my next helmet, almost for sure!

  • @supermodes

    Been wearing this for a few months. It allows too much air under the chin bar. I got the chin curtain and it is useless. It's too short and too thin so it doesn't block any air. The vents do nothing. Open or closed, I feel no difference. The included sun visor is also useless because it's too light. You have to pay more for a darker shield. Also, the dampened spring gets stuck when retracting the shield. I love fiddling with a shoddy lever on the top of my helmet on the highway. I'm not really happy with it but I can't return it.

      SlowRide, yeap, exactly the same concerns:
      - sun visor too light, and spring gets stucked quickly
      - hard to find sun visor / vent buttons on top, too many of them
      - vent on or off doesnt make huge difference
      - a bit noisy
      - side wind, or turning head on high speed feels bad
      - pinlock is actually included, but the visible area is kind of limited from top by it, not cool
      but besides it, very cool one, great vealue for the price IMO

      mikocot Thanks, always useful reading pro's and cons, i know every helmet has them but always handy to sum up generally what a helmet is like. And also its price category has to take into account some features i guess.

    • @africanhistory
      @africanhistory 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every single thing you said I have to 100% agree with. I do not have issue with the darkness on the visor. But I was just coming to make these same comments. I returned one already because it was getting stuck, low and behold, the new one is now getting stuck when you retract it. Vents open or close I do not see much difference. All the air comes in under the chin. Apart from that it is a very nice helmet, very nice fit (I am coming from garbage helmets by Zesus). The noise level is not that amazing. The helmet is very light! very nice looking also. The field of view in the tuck is not perfect--crops the top! My chin curtain and pinlock were included. You really never know with a helmet. You can test them all. so let me stick with this until next change. Oh I have the Lorenzo graphic, which is pretty sharp.

    • @paule5812
      @paule5812 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend the IS-16 darker shaded lens and the spring stayed strong went down on the highway and it saved my dome the chin curtain wasn't bad either

    Thank you! so much for showing how to remove all the padding’s. I have had this helmet for 2 years and never had the confidence to remove the padding’s in case I brake it.
    The helmet is very comfortable. The buttons for the vents and sun visor are a solid quality build. The helmet come with anti fog (condensation) don’t know what you call it. But I think the protection it starting to wear off. When I first bought it the condensation wouldn’t settle Now after 2 years you can start to see it settle for a few seconds, which is still good enough. The helmet comes with a bag. Which is very useful for me.
    I hope you all find the perfect helmet for you and ride safe ✌🏽

    Hello i used an Hjc IS-17for a allmost a year! oh thank you -Brian for pointing me to the right way bud.
    It survived a low speed crash recently and i want to replace it now..
    I would like to buy a helmet with lower Noise Level, lighter Weight, without a internal visor!

      +Unpausemeh The Shoei RF-1200 would be the best option for being quiet and light, but it is definitely more expensive than the HJC IS-17. For more affordable options, consider the HJC FG-17 and the Scorpion EXO-R710. -DrewZilla

      We test every helmet on our site, and are lucky enough to wear hundreds of models each year to compare fits. Sometimes that doesn't line up with other brand's opinions as to certain details. We stand by our real world testing and riding evaluation though. Hopefully it helps you make a decision on your next lid.

    not happy with mine, on cold days, there is way too much cold air on my face,i even stuck a piece of fabric over the useless mesh chin curtain, which helped a bit, needs larger area chin curtain,what were the designers thinking of? surely they must have trialed it in cold weather 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, thats not that cold, but it would be unbearable in really cold weather!.
    oh yeah, one more thing,my model has the mini ratchet closing latch, which digs into my throat-another poor design.
    and also..............the drop down sun visor fogs up badly,in cold weather, but not the main visor with the pin-lock shield.

    what do you mean by cut away for a communication device. does that fabric open for a speaker or do you have to cut it out of the helmet or what. I am looking for a helmet that will take a after market bluetooth. thank you anyone for your help

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Clayton When Anthony says it has "a bit of a cut-away", he means that there is an area of the cheek pad that does not have any foam. That means there is space in the helmet there to mount communication speakers. The fabric does not open there nor do you have to cut anything. Most any universal Bluetooth communicator will mount in this helmet. -DrewZilla

    Hi, thanks for those videos - really useful. one part I'm missing is comparison and some experience after riding.
    I'm thinking about changing my Nolan N85 to IS17 but tried&loved RPHA10Plus I also very much like the fit of AGV K5/K3. is there anyone in the team who rode all of them and care to take a minute to compare?.
    I think I really would like to find reasons to pay the money for the RPHA (and if the safety is the reason for that then my it scored so average in SHARP?) - it is the least practical of the lot for me - so please help or let me know I'll be better off with one of the others and the money in my pocket :)
    thanks

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the RPHA10 Plus is physically narrower than the IS-17, I can understand its 3-star SHARP rating. The IS-17 has a much larger shell, so there is room for more EPS around the ears. For long-term feedback, the RPHA10 has really good ventilation but is not quiet. The IS-17 has a bit less ventilation but is also slightly quieter. The AGV K5 and K3 SV have good ventilation, average noise, and are more compact than the IS-17 and both received 4-star SHARP ratings. The K5 and K3 SV are a good compromise between the other two. They're sleek like the RPHA10 Plus, but they're safer on the SHARP rating like the IS-17. -DrewZilla

      @pedrothevenard 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just look the SHARP scale, it is far more reliable when it comes to safety, this particular helmet is one of the few 5 star on that scale, making it way safer than 99% of the 300+ dollar helmets out there.

  • @MrJonas7

    It's a super safe, affordable, good helmet, but it's insanely noisy. That's the only but very noticable flaw of IS-17.
