Stitch along: Let’s celebrate the seasons with flowers!
Below is a basic outline of the project. Starting on the 1st September 2023.
Select 4 floral prints that represent the 4 seasons.. I’m starting with Spring but you can start as you wish! It maybe Autumn for you !
Cut each piece to size depending on how you wish to present them at the end. I plan to use a rolling pin .. rolling them up.. as the season finishes ! My floral panels are 11.5” tall x 8.5” wide
In my first video I show the 3 I have selected so far .. I’m still working on autumn, as I have not found something just perfect!
I then recommend a backing fabric to stabilise the pieces.. can be a long single strip or a piece cut for each panel of floral fabric. At a later date joined.
ADD IN’s
This is a list of items added to the piece to complete it.. these items can be gathered and set aside throughout the year ready to embellish your panels!
1. Add in a Critter.. select a bird or butterfly or bee or bug or animal that complements the piece ! Stitch it in!
2. Words .. add a phase or poem.. about the season. Can be stitched or added as a preprinted element..
3. Variety of threads and ribbons to embroider the flowers and critters…painting in threads
4. Background fabrics little bits to make your piece look textured .. linens .. ticking.. silks.. cheesecloth!!
5. Extras flowers.. fussy cut out extra flowers to add to your piece.. helps to create the extra texture.. bits for vintage doilies if they suit your panel. Pre-made flowers can be collaged into the panel
6. Lace bits to add even more texture. Used within flowers or used in the background.
7 and finally beads and sequins to give your piece bling.. old jewellery can also be used.
I plan to post the videos as needed within my current projects.. we have three months per season so plenty of time. There is no schedule to follow just the change of the season.

Hi Corrine, say "Hi" to Susanna for me. Hope you both have a blast!!!
Yes, your fabric is Sanderson. 😊
Yes will do ! Thank you!
Que lindo! O passarinho foi recortado e colado no tecido ou faz parte da estampa do tecido?
Hi.. I cut him out and stitched him into place with tiny stitches and then later I will stitch into him. Every Friday I work on this piece. It’s part of the stitch the season project.. this is winter the last season for me to complete! I have created a playlist if you wish to go back through.
Hi Corine, this fabric is so gorgeous and I love the colors 🧡👍
Thanks so much 😊
I hope all stitchers listen to your hand advice. I’m 74 and still stitching but right now I’m healing up my 8 th finger that has been operated on. I will just have to watch you stitch Corine. No housework, lol
What kind of an operation can get for your fingers? My Grandmother had awful arthritis, and back in the day, they gave you steroids. Like skin peeling steroids! Not sure her cure did the trick. I know she died at a fairly young age, as my family goes. As for my hands, they are dreadfully achy and the extra weight of stitching can just put me over the top! Add to that, all the pokes and jabs, and my hands are a wreck.
