I came here after watching 40 videos on linear regression and couldn't understand then finally youtube AI recommended this one. I never knew Linear regression was too easy.
People complain what they have studied in school does not help them in real life or job but i am happy to tell you that i have studied this in school and using this in my job
Gracias Ruth !!!!! me estaba volviendo loco con cálculos para el almacén de una empresa aplicando Z y varianza con distribución normal pero no sabía cómo confeccionar la tabla para el slicer. Ahora aprendí Generateseries y Parameters!!!! wonderful!!!! thansk so so much for all your work!!
I don’t know why the language used for statistics is so complex and why it is always explained in such detailed manner that scares most people away. Glad the video was useful to you ! /Ruth
This is such a great video! But still I still trying to convince myself of why I should keep using Power Bi. I need to use a linear regressions a lot and the process in Power Bi quite cumbersome. I just watched a Tableau video and it got built-in statistics! thats great.
Awesome!, very awesome and...i think the results you get are totally exact ruth you should continue on statistics series it's wonderful (statistics +power bi= business analytics)
Sorry, but I think most people know what linear regression is used for and just want to now how to implement it in Power BI. I have the impression you explain the concept more to yourself. But thanks for the files.
Hi, I agree with your frustration with the dax editor not closing. My work around is to click the dashboard canvas UNDERNEATH the dax formula window. This location appears special for some reason and closes the dax window first click. Hope this helps.
Sorry for the slow reply (time zone differences). Below are the Linear Regression functions and a Very Simple AI using Power Query. Hi! Great video! Do you have a link to where I can watch the Formulas of Regression that you mention? Just to understand how to build the Parameters [n], [xsq], [ysq], etc ???? Thanks!
Hi, thank you for making the concept simple. I am trying to use your idea of what if parameters to predict a score. In my case, I have 14 parameters. Instead of finding the individual slope values, I used python to find it for me. Then applied the equation just like you did. But the final values are different(all possible values should be below 100) as sometime it produce in 1000's. Any suggestion what could have gone wrong?
I noticed always you said the demo pbix file available at your website but It is not or , it is unknown , please just put a link to the exact location where it located and share it with the audiences.
Hi ruth, I'm trying to access your website to download the file. But it seems that the download link is broken, I'm not able to access the downloads page. Thanks!
very appreciate for your amazing and clear explain for linear regression, can you please give other example for multi linear regression in Bi? many thanks!
😂😂 that could happen , but more often than not you get a spike of subs that day and then everything goes back to normal...for what I have seen at least.. Happy Friday! /Ruth

I only googled it I am afraid...

Great use of the pen to explain those points on screen. Thanks for a great video
Thanks! Helps me too :)

There are two new DAX functions that do linear regression. Check them out: LINEST and LINESTX
Thank you for educating us all!!!

Hi ruth...when can we do mann kandell analysis.. or get Microsoft to add the function
Suggest it in ideas.powerbi.com :)

great! and what about a multiple linear regression? is it possible?

hi, thank you for the excellent tutorial! can I know, what the formula of those regression text measure?
It is possible to create a single extended line to see the real values plus the projection?
Thank you!
I loved it! Is there something similar that I can apply to sales performance?
Great video and i have a question at 7:07 min. How to get the formula of predict subs = 2 + mx?
Great video Ruth 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🥂🥂🥂
Thanks and happy Friday :)

Watched first 30 seconds and already in love :D Great video!

Wonderful Love you!!!! Never cross my mind to use Parameters in that way. Thanks
Happy Friday!

Hi Curbal, this video is greatfull to us. if you make another video how to run of Linear regression in Power Query. Tks so much from Vietnam
Your Video is very helpful Madam.
Wonderful, glad to hear!

Interesting video. May I ask, how did you compute the "n"? thank you.
Countrows function :)
You can download my file to see all calculations in the download center.

@@CurbalEN Thank you. How about a video about doing multiple regression in power bi? :)
I will add it to my list :)

Did you formulate the equation of your own at 7:20, or did you use power bi to get the equation ?
It’s about time someone did this subject. Many thanks. I’ve written a Power Query grouped linear regression function if your interested?
Hey Kris it would be great if you can share the Power Query or entire Pbix file...
Hi, absolutely, share if possible !

Hello, how do you do this linear regression for percentage measures?
Nice addition.... long overdue function 😁 Looking for polynomial regression...
Added to my list :)

Hi Ruth, great stuff, very intresting
Thanks! More next Friday :)
/Ruth
Excel gives you the formula :-) . Great video
what is the formaula for n? just Count of Rows?
how do you calculate r-squared for line chart where the x-axis values are dates?
what is n stands for? what is the dax algorithm for n?
Very good!
Amazing, I really liked your video another way to make regressions
Glad you liked it:)

Music to my ears 😊

Great vídeo!! I do it the same with a cenario of number os bikes (sharing) predictes with climatic temperature. :)

It’s useful but I would also like a video showing how to use the regression and correlation coefficient in the online quick measures galleryplease!
Next video is about the correlation coefficient, not from the quick measures though...(pre-recorded)

Hi Eduardo,
I checked it and it is working fine, can you try with another network? Your employer might be blocking cloud services.

Hi Ruth.. can you please some time make a spanish video for all the latin people?? .. Saludos desde Colombiaaa
I have one on what is power bi. Wish I had more time to make more :(

does any one found pbix file?
Why not do this in excel, where it will actually calculate the regression line and provide whether it is statistically significant?
Go for it! This is just to show how for those that need to do it in power bi
plz what [n] measure means?
You can download the file in the download center (link in the description) and see all measures for yourself.
N= no of values

what is [n]????
Sample size, if you download the file you will see the formula and how everything is calculated.

@@CurbalEN Hi Ruth, I can't see this pbix in the download center.. By the way, what is the default value for [n]? Thanks
Love your video by the way..
wow! was it so easy? 😂 well statistics always scares the shet out of me
Out of me too 😂
where the hell did you define [n]?
If it is hell we are talking about, then you need to ask the devil ;)
isn't more reasonable to use subsrcibers as x variable
People need to view the videos in order to subscribe to the channel, so in my head, views drives subscribers, but I could be wrong. ;)

And then some prominent youtuber mentions you as part of trending meme and your predictions go out of the window.
