Absolutely loved this! We live in Northern Idaho and have seen the Northern Lights many times here. They are one of the coolest things to see. I'm thankful for this video...because I've never filmed them. Now I know how!

The question I would have asked is what about clothing in such frigid weather? yes, yes, I understand clothing is not optional in the Arctic! What I mean is any suggestions for particular cold weather clothing, gloves that allow you to operate the buttons and dials on your camera, etc

While I do not have specific recommendations as what is recommended may differ depending on your body type and gender, the key would be to layer your clothing while insuring the clothing is not tight-fitting. Loose, clean, dry, layered clothing is key.
Typically, you would want a base layer such as long sleeve thermal underwear, followed by a t-shirt, your regular shirt or sweater, waterproof pants or warm trousers, a polar fleece jacket, and a parka or heavy outer coat. A woolen cap or fleece cap, scarves, and gloves/mittens would also be recommended, along with warm, dry socks and good boots/shoes. Wool, fleece, and wind/water-resistant materials such as Gore-Tex are popular options.
For your camera, you may purchase an insulated camera case such as the *Ruggard DSLR Parka Cold and Rain Protector for Cameras and Camcorders (Black),* _B&H # RUPACLBV2,_ or for even colder temperatures, an option with heat packs such as the *PortaBrace POL-DSLR2 Polar Bear Insulated Camera Case (Black),* _B&H # POPOLDSLR2,_ for your usage needs.

Wow, that was pretty much an hour+ long Sony infomercial. I thought it was really something that one of her favorite Sony primes she recommended for Aurora Borealis shooting she admits she has never actually used for Aurora Borealis shooting. But, hey, that's not being a total Sony shill or anything like that, right? I have been taking pictures since 35mm film days back in 1978 and never before have I heard a supposed "professional" photographer describe getting an effect making a natural, solar wind phenomenon look "more flowy (sic) and feminine". I guess a generation that has to announce its pronouns everywhere and to everyone would also wrongly assume magnetosphere disturbances would have a declared gender as well.
The reliance by the current batch of self-styled photography "experts" like this one on their gee-whiz mirrorless bodies and silicon chip enabled internal features and functions is amusing. I'd love to hand them an old manual everything Pentax K-100 or Canon AE-1 and a 24 exp roll of Kodacolor II or 400 and see what they could do, haha! Most would be utterly lost if limited to shooting what was actually in front of them, were they not able to conjure up a digital creation of their computerized gadgets and other expensive shit B&H and its shills hope to convince them they need in order to create photographic art.

Cranky old fart. May be easier to just keep it to yourself. Jealousy is ugly.

@@WanderingBobAK I made specific, fact-based arguments, your couching those as jealousy is like something a child would say, not a grown man. Ignoring the substance and instead try to divine the motivations behind an argument, not the method of a critical thinker, pal.
I suspect you are just white knighting, which is pathetic.
