    The language we use is not light. The language is our subjects. Light is an aspect of their form, and SECONDARY OR LESS to the essence of the subject.

    Don’t tether with Lightroom. Use capture one and all your problems go away.

    Your class is mesmerising, you have such a beautiful way to put across the subtle points in the listeners mind. One of the best Lessons I have come across in the TH-cam. Thanks Jared Platt and B&H.

    i loved the talk, but, can we please just stop trying to use LightRoom to tether, it never works properly. in all my time tethering ive had LR crash almost every time i tether, but capture one seems to never have an issue.

    Great way of teaching lighting by working with the direction of natural light instead of trying to overpower or work against the light. Best saying work smarter not harder!!! That saying works with any type of job not just for photography. I have used that philosophy ever since my first job.

    The tethering issue I once was aware to be a Lightroom/Canon combination caused problem, if the computer or camera goes to standby. You must restart tethering completely then, to do so, 1. disconnect and power off cam, 2. stop tethering tool of Lr, 3. start tethering tool, 4. power on and connect cam. To avoid this, ensure camera and computer do not go to sleep mode.

    • @kenlor71
      @kenlor71 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the secret would be to adjust camera and computer settings as to NOT go into sleep or standby mode. Right?

    Jared Platt is an instructor that is a cut above the others. He teaches you that only learning how to use the tools will not make you a photographer. You have to learn how to take those tools and create an artistic expression.

    • @LarissaGoodrich1

      He probably went to the history and clicked before he added the light (which he probably did as the last thing in LR). I hope this helps.

    You would think that working out the tethering issue before recording the video would have been standard procedure. I'm sure those folks paid in some form or another to be there.

    • @kenlor71

      It seems that almost every presenter has tethering issues at this store. Not sure why that is. Personally, I've never had a tethering issue.

    While the speakers at B&H have some great insights to impart, many could stand to tighten their presentations considerably. I only got nine minutes into this talk, but the speaker had wandered off topic already. Please, edit your talks as much as you would edit your photos. Although I value the insights these speakers bring, these insights would be better delivered in tighter talks.
