    This is one of the easiest ways to crochet an amigurumi pumpkin with ribs.
    The pattern is beginner-friendly and it doesn't take too long to make the pumpkin. Crochet pumpkin can be used as a toy for kids or a decoration. It is especially useful during the fall season and around Halloween time.
    All materials can be bought at local stores (Dollarama, Michaels, Walmart etc).

    - acrylic yarn
    - hook 5mm
    - yarn needle
    - some stuffing
    - two markers
    - scissors
    - wire
    - cinnamon stick
    Pattern description:
    Chain of 30
    (Slip knot counted as the first stitch)
    Row 1: 1SLST in a second chain from the hook, 3SC, 20DC, 3SC, skip 1 stitch and make 1SL ST in a last stitch.
    From Row #2 to Row #36 all SC and DC are crochet in third stitches
    Row 2-36: CH of 1, skip 1 stitch and make 3SC in next 3 stitches, 20DC, 3SC, CH of 1, skip 1 stitch and make 1SLST in a last stitch.

    • @iuliiacraft
      @iuliiacraft  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi 👋 💕
      I'm glad you've decided to make this pumpkin 🎃 and hope you'd enjoy the process as much as I did 😊
      As per the size, if you'd like to make just a slightly bigger pumpkin you can chain 5 chains more in the middle part and crochet 20 DC + 5 DC (new ones).
      The pattern will look like this:
      Row 1: 1SLST in a second chain from the hook, 3SC, 25DC, 3SC, skip 1 stitch and make 1SL ST in a last stitch.
      From Row #2 to Row #36 all SC and DC are crochet in third stitches
      Row 2-36: CH of 1, skip 1 stitch and make 3SC in next 3 stitches, 25DC, 3SC, CH of 1, skip 1 stitch and make 1SLST in a last stitch.
      If you'd like to double the size of the pumpkin, I'd go this way:
      Chain 60
      Row 1: 1SLST in a second chain from the hook, 6SC, 44DC, 6SC, skip 1 stitch and make 1SL ST in a last stitch.
      From Row #2 to Row #36 all SC and DC are crochet in third stitches
      Row 2-36: CH of 1, skip 1 stitch and make 6SC in next 6 stitches, 44DC, 6SC, CH of 1, skip 1 stitch and make 1SLST in a last stitch.
      Hopefully it helps 💕

    Hello! I love your pumpkin! I seem to be struggling with closing the seam. You close it so quickly I can't seem to grasp how you sew it up correctly to make mine look seamless, especially once it is stuffed. Any suggestions?

    • @iuliiacraft
      @iuliiacraft  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brook! Thank you 😊
      When you attach two ends together place the end of the work on top of the beginning part (on the first row). There will be small overlap. You should see the “V” from your last row on top. Go with the needle into every stitch on both sides. On the part with “V’s” go under the “V’s”. In this way you should have invisible seam.
      As per the closing top and bottom of the pumpkin 🎃 go with your needle under each “V” of the top part, don’t pull the yarn before you go with the needle under all “V’s”. When you find all “V’s”, pull the yarn and close one side (top) and leave the whole for the cinnamon stick (if you use one). Secure the yarn and go to the bottom part. You can just cup the yarn on the top part and attach the new piece on the bottom part when you are ready to close.
      You don’t have to stuff the pumpkin before you star closing other side (bottom). Instead, try to find all stitches (half of the stitches) and go with the yarn under them. You should look for one single string (half of the stitches) at the end of the rows. It is better to go under half of stitches as it’ll make the smoother closing.
      When you are done with that, stuff the pumpkin and pull the yarn to close the bottom.
      p.s. “V’s”-are stitches that look like letter V. It’s also ribs of the pumpkin. You should have 18 on each side (top and bottom of the pumpkin).
      I hope it helps 😉

      Hi 👋🏻
      You need a hook 5 mm (metric diameter). If you are used to United States standard crochet hook sizes, that’s going to be size H8 US.
      It’s still the same hook.
      There are different size systems: Metric diameter and United States standard sizes. Both sizes are usually written on hooks and on packaging of yarn.

    I keep getting stuck at the beginning I do the row of 30 and then the steps that follow but for some reason when I get to the end where you do the Chain of 1 I noticed you have less chains left so by the time I do the chain of 1 and skip 1 to do the last slip stitch in the last one I’m skipping 2 instead of 1. So not sure what happened!

    • @iuliiacraft
      @iuliiacraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋🏻 I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the count.
      I hope I would be able to help you with that ❤️
      Overall you start with 30 chains, counting a slip knot as your first chain.
      In a first row you start with 1 slip stitch in a second chain from the hook, then you are not skipping stitches and making 3 single crochet, 20 double crochet, 3 single crochet. After that you are skipping 1stitch and making 1slip knot in a last stitch which is your slip knot that we counted as a first chain.
      30 chains=1chain skipping +1slip stitch+3 single crochet+20 double crochet +3 single crochet +1 skipped chain +1 slip stitch
      Please let me know if it was helpful or you’d have others questions ☺️

    • @MissRuthless
      @MissRuthless 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@iuliiacraft That actually did help thanks! Now I’m on the 3rd row I believe so do we still have to skip 1 before the 3 single stitches every time we start a new row?

      Yes, you have to repeat row #2 till the end and continue skipping stitches. It should be easier to close a pumpkin at the end.

    • @iuliiacraft
      @iuliiacraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay 😉
      I would suggest at least doubling the size and starting with a chain of 60 instead of 30, crocheting 6SC instead of 3SC.
      Then, if my calculations are correct, you’ll have to crochet CH of 1, 6SC, 44DC, 6SC, CH of 1, SL ST.
      If you’d like a pumpkin to be bigger than that, start with chain of 75 and instead of 6SC, crochet 8.
      Rows: CH of 1, 8CH, 55DC, 8SC, CH of 1, SL ST
      I hope it was helpful 😉

    I’m confused the 20 double crochet stitches on row 1 are different to the 20 double crochet stitches on row 2.

    • @iuliiacraft
      @iuliiacraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      20 double crochet in the 2nd row has to be crochet in a third stitch. Basically, that’s the main difference.
      To sum up:
      Row 1: 3SC in a second chain from the hook, 20DC, 3SC, 1SL ST
      From Row #2 to Row #36 all SC and DC are crochet in third stitches
      Row 2-36: CH of 1, 3SC, 20DC, 3SC, CH of 1, 1SLST
      I hope it makes sense to you 😉

    • @MissRuthless
      @MissRuthless 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean when you say they need to be in a third stitch?
      I’m on my 5th row now and I’ve been doing the steps exactly the same as in row 2 is that correct? I just do the same steps as row 2 over and over until row 36? After I do the row of 20 I seem to be running out of room to do the 3 single stitches and then there isn’t room to skip a stitch before the last slip stitch.

    • @iuliiacraft
      @iuliiacraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stitches (« v ») have two half of the stitches (front and back half of the stitch). For the purpose of making this pumpkin and creating a nice rib, I wanted both of the half stitches to be visible. (Usually we crochet rows by both half of the stitches or by one of them. And in this way we can see only one half of the stitch or don’t see it at all).
      So, to keep half of the stitches visible we have to crochet a row by the « third » or « base » stitch that is kind of under the « V » stitch. I called it a « third » stitch in the video.
      Yes, you have to continue repeating row#2 till the end. I’d recommend using markers to keep the right count of the stitches. You should have 30 stitches in every row. If you keep the right count you shouldn’t have less stitches left in any of the rows ❤️
