Another factor not mentioned that isolates the rich: when you aren't rich, you need other people. For most of us, when you move, you get friends to help. When you need money, family can sometimes help you with a loan. If you can't afford a babysitter, you may trade off with a neighbor. These can be seen as a hassle, but needing others (and them needing you) is really the basis of community. And having a community is good for mental health and happiness.

Don't forget Epstein. When you're £2,000 bottles of wine and your £200 steaks start tasting normal you want a bigger gap between you and the "minions". The wealth is not enough they now need to get away with immoral dark behaviour. They're all devil's disciples in my eyes. Most people have absolutely no interest in controlling just one person, nevermind an entire world. Its sick. Wake up people. No more red or blue.

Everyone in the world has some sort of struggle to deal with in life. I will never forget when I was dealing with a divorce and my dad took me fishing and we had a talk. He had never had to deal with this type of thing, but he seen my pain and wanted to help. I had good insurance and was planning to talk to a therapist, but the appointment was weeks away. When I started telling my dad how I felt and how I was going to see someone he told me something that made me truly understand the difference between being poor and having money(at the time anyway). He said, "Rich people go to therapy and poor people go fishing". I am not saying that your station in life means you can't get help. But having something to help calm your mind is what everyone needs, his was fishing. And knowing that it can be that simple made me rethink a lot of things in my life.

10 years ago, I made my first million after starting a semi trucking company with my cousin 5 years prior. It didn't feel like anything. I worked so damn hard being both a driver and owner that I felt completely void of any emotion. So instead of going out and celebrating, I went downstairs to my basement and played guitar, drew in my sketch book and passed out on the couch watching star trek reruns, which is exactly what I did as a teenager. My wife woke me up and asked me to come to bed with her. Before drifting off to sleep, she asked me "you're getting me a bigger house now, right?". At that point, I felt like leaving her.

I grew up working class in the US, with plenty of family that struggled farming and mining. Life had hard moments but we got by and made some great memories.
I married into a wealthy family and all they did was complain and gossip about each other and everyone they knew. My ex husband thought it was his “ birthright “ to “ retire “ at 26 years old and ended up an addict (who doesn’t know how to adult) and has no convictions. He would rather kiss the asses of parents he can’t stand than work for a living. They’re miserable people and everything they do is for optics. There are a lot of plastic people, with ugly, empty souls walking around numb and completely disconnected from the realities of the world. I’m embarrassed to say that there was a time I was one of them. I wouldn’t have known there was a recession if banks weren’t making headlines because of bailouts. I can only imagine how removed billionaires are from reality and how disconnected they must be from the hardships of the world around them.
I got out and now I live within a budget but I’m present, I have direction and I’m making memories with people who appreciate life.

So I used to be a low voltage electrician with my brother in law. We did a lot of security systems, cameras and home entertainment systems. We installed a lot of big flat screens and crazy nice sound systems. I thought this would be just another one of those, but no, this was different.
We were working in Oregon for some politician guy. He wanted a “theater” put in his house for his kids. I thought maybe he wanted the standard giant flat screen and surround sound like a normal person. No. When we got there, he had a 5 story mansion, every car you could ever dream of being jealous of, and round the clock staff. People constantly working on his 20 acre front lawn and god knows how big the back, and staff constantly cleaning the massive inside. It was like a single family was living in a luxury hotel all by themselves.
We ended up installing a huge projection screen, state of the art movie theater projector, and a massive sound system. He had movie theater seats, rope lights along the steps, carpeted walls, dimmers. The fucking works. We watched an avengers movie trailer and it was like we were at the theater INSIDE of this guys house. He was only there for 10 min before he had to run. He was incredibly busy with his phone, note pad and computer. His wife came home, and she was the same thing, just the female version.
Remember now, he had stressed how much he wanted his kids to have the theater in their house. It was all for them because they were so important to him. So we finished, and I was staging all of our tools in the kitchen on a pallet blanket, because god forbid anything be touched in the house. It was like a museum. Everything was in cases or put away, and seemed like nothing had been touched in years.
The kids actually came home from school. Their mom was on the phone, had a notepad, on the computer, busy busy busy. Their youngest little girl runs up to her mom with a piece of paper in her hand and says with SUCH excitement and joy “Mommy! Mommy! Can you please help me with my homework?! Please!!!”
That women didn’t even look at her daughter, she just put a hand up in her little girls face and snapped her fingers at their nanny while pointing at the little girl like “you deal with this, NOW!” The nanny literally dropped what she was doing in the table and scurried over in a rush over never seen before and says “oh I’ll help you with that sweetie.”
The little girl started fucking crying, didn’t break eye contact with her mother who didn’t even look at her once. This is probably a daily occurrence. The mega rich were the most miserable humans I’ve ever worked with in my entire life and I did a summer at Home Depot when I was a kid.
I had this in contrast to my grandparents who live on an Indian reservation in New Town, North Dakota. They have a little manufactured home, no running water (they have to go to a water plant or have someone deliver it to the house) and a dinky little tv. However, I’ve never seen so much smiling or heard so much laughter in a single house before. Everyday my mom brings my brothers to see them, my aunties bring their kids, and my uncle brings his children. They get to see nearly all of their grandkids every single day. They are the happiest people, the sweetest and the most fulfilled I’ve ever met.
The mega wealthy I did work for always haggled over money, even though they had more than me or my entire family put together. They hardly smiled or laughed, really only when something negative was being said. They also didn’t like people that didn’t bow down to them. I ended up quitting because I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t kiss their asses because I didn’t respect them because I could see they didn’t respect me. People would bend over backwards and put on a face or double back their complaints about the mega rich they had behind their back.
We need to stop treating them like they’re some amazing deity we need to kneel to. They have money. A lot of them have parents and bloodlines with money. It’s not special, it’s lucky and it’s disgusting how they treat people. The only reason to kiss up to them is because you want to be like them. Strive for more. There’s a lot more to life than that.

That is a great point, that's why they pay millions to find inmortality. God already established those who believe in his Son JesusChrist and obey his way of living described in the Bible, they will be allowed to enter in Heaven after receiving forgiveness by their faith in the fact that Jesus died in their place on the cross, to be able to forgive them. Many millionaires and billionaires believe they themselves are Gods and do not humble themselves before the God of Heaven and Earth, so they will not enter to Heaven for that reason they live feeling guilty and afraid of dying when the solution was also given. Also, Jesus said: before God the greatest and most honored human beings in Heaven will be measured and rewarded by their love and service toward others.

Thats not exactly a "great" solution either. Past examples of people doing this like Manna Musa caused decades long multi nation recessions and chaos from the influx of wealth transfer. Some ppl get obsessed with hoarding money like it’s a constant competition, and when they’ve accomplished a lot, it gets hard to relax instead of trying to outdo their past achievements. The REAL challenge in life should be learning new skills and remembering that failure is a part of success. We can only try to make the world a more compassionate place while we live and let others know we’re INTERDEPENDENT! I received a hefty life insurance payout when my partner passed away back in 2010 and it was so liberating to be able to pay off the mortgage on the little flat we were living in at the time and renovate it beautifully. I gave up working, which was GREAT, but was kept busy with all the renovation projects. But the most satisfying experience was being in a position to help out my daughter, brother and Mum and close friends. That money really helped a lot of people to get out of the financial hole that they, and I, were in and set them and me up on a good path going forward.
Needless to say I'm as poor as a church mouse now but am living off grid without the crippling costs of living on the grid, grow most of my food, am able to feed my animals and am as happy as Larry.

They have based their identity and self worth on this status, and their security is at stake. That's what this would make them walk away from. I don't think they all know yet their identity and worth isn't measured there, this is often an unconscious and primal fear. They are human and some will and some won't be aware of it while it does this. Even those of other class groups fall into these thoughts and feelings, and not everyone is aware of it. Many lower income people feel defined in their work, and so losing it can trigger identity crisis.
When they unlocked this achievement the game changed, and walking away has a bloody awful "safety net". Not only is there no sure security, but who is going to accept them amongst their group? All the groups are divided and angry at each other even though circumstances can change and they can't trust other billionaires either, can they? Once famous it's even harder.
Funny enough money hasn't assured much at all.
However I like the ideal that if they wanted a way out, this could have been one of them. If the safety net was universally more helpful and sustainable, rebalancing could be more available. Perhaps the whole spectrum would benefit.

No critical thinking, no individualism, no differences. My wife met my school friends at a party once and could not believe how they were so similar in manner and speech. They do live in a little bubble and are depressed, living a pointless life. And money does not bring you happiness. There is some amazing research on how you seem to lead to psychopathic tendencies to become super rich. It is unnatural to want to dominate and control other people, but we are made to look at that as normal. Especially here in the UK, where we are born to sing God save the queen. And we are taught that the only sovereign being is the monarch. Every human being on this planet is soveriegn and every human being has the right to exist without explotation and propoganda. It's the reason I've been able to be happier than anyone I've known despite the most challenging of times (and these were more challenging than most people will ever have to go through in a lifetime and beyond imagination) because that's exactly what I did. It's when people started to interfere with that, actively making it impossible for me to do that anymore it became a very different story although I still tried and try to do it anywhere I can. There is nothing too fill these places I think. That's the scary thing. Capitalism has stretched far to give us what we need. Yet in that place is an swollen emptiness that is impaircal except money talks, that's what spins and moves. It's not like a religion or politics but keen eye on the financial side. Their an embodiment of ghosts as seeing other tale from them. The rich are like us, what Amazon guy was, it could be anyone that could end up like that in the long run. I think adulthood if there was a place that had something set like childhood with filling of comfort right through life as stages of what people felt in their teens, 20s having that in their 30s, 40s, 50s and furthur feeling like a sense of purpose that hasn't got meaningless but always something, that happiness there for the mind and soul and that adventure side.
I know that's unrealistic. I seen the transition side of people and it's obvious, and i dont know what to say about it.
My dad said about these people in US when he went over there, all these people talk about was money in their bedroom and stocks and shares, nothing else. It's like you cant explain it. Maybe that's what they want to do or rest of people want but dont inside. Whatever that case is....

This is really interesting… on one hand my ego self is saying “Wow. SHOCKING, that billionaires are struggling with depression since their life lacks spiritual meaning or being of true service to others”. Then on the other hand, as a therapist and healer myself, I do feel compassion is the answer for understanding everyone’s circumstances even if they are in the 1%. Everyone experiences pain and suffering in their lifetime. Yet we all need to find a balance between surrendering to our self made pain and taking responsibility to grow and change how we are navigating in the world if we want to find meaning. So the question is, do these billionaires really WANT to find meaning, or do they simply want to vent beyond authentic expression and stay within the limited bounds of their super ego, continuing to cause pain for other individuals on the planet?

But, she didn't hide her wealth, and it was her choice to live a lifestyle of privilege and associate with like minded people.

Yes but keywords if you was rich. As a humble and perhaps altruistic person you are less likely to be rich by design. Most rich people are selfish megalomaniac narcissists with no empathy or regard for ordinary people. Bezos wouldn't be half as rich and amazon wouldn't be half as successful if bezos wasn't a tyrannical CEO pushing his company to always exceed deadlines no matter what. I used to work in a toy warehouse and when an order for amazon came in we were told to ignore other stuff and all pick for their orders to dispatch it asap. That is why amazon always delivers so fast. Its at the cost of many people even those that dont work for amazon and smaller companies. That is how you get to the top of the foodchain in today's society by exploitation and a workplace regime, and doing everything you can to eliminate competition and create a monopoly.

Honestly, this has been my experience too. Gilded cages are harder to escape. Clinicians find it a little demoralizing, at first, because you think, if beyond-wealthy people are so dispirited, what does that say about the rest of us? Then you catch on. We're all afflicted, and for them it's worse in a way, because there's only one way to go when you're at the top of the mountain. It's terrifying, being at the top, not knowing how to do (or not do) anything else, feeling alienated, and feeling the disparity between how much they have and how bereft they feel. It's especially confusing because most people envy them, or want to be them, so why don't they feel better about themselves? Don't get me wrong, most people would choose being rich over being poor. But it's dead wrong to assume being rich will solve all of your problems.

I always say the problems of the world can attributed to TWO reasons: 1) bad or lack of parenting 2) lack of true culture. A persons rage, their need to compete and be above others, all come down to lack of deep self love, which in turn comes from bad parenting. Culture shows us that man is called to be, internally, more than what he was born as; to appreciate beauty and respect nature and your fellow human beings.

    Yeah, “miserable”.
As if emptiness, loneliness, meaninglessness, and depression are unique to these people. They have the choice to do whatever they want for the rest of their life. They can create ANY life they want if they actually wanted to.
I know that empathy is supposed to be the mature way to react to this, but I don’t feel it, not one bit.

True. I live with depression and social anxiety and I force myself to go to work everyday I struggle to get out of bed and worry how I will pay my bills if my depression gets too bad to function and work. I am sure if I was lying on the beach with people serving me cocktails it would make my struggle a tiny bit easier.

Well I guess if they believe money is the only indicator of success they can't understand how money is not overly important to everyone. Same like guys who assume all women are prostitutes or gold diggers then can't buy the one they want. It's their displaced projections.

Deeply felt gratitude for Russell Brand, for standing by us, for being a voice for those not granted a voice and supporting us in every way he knows best, especially all through this time of great need.
I quote, 'Insofar as it's possible to generalize about a vague and contested concept like "human nature'", there is something profoundly unnatural about exploiting and dominating other people... just as it's deeply inhuman and antisocial to have the majority of your relationships be defined by proximity to money.'

Anyone who has studied even a bit of psychology knows that personalities in the Sociopath/ Psychopath categories are found in the highest concentration within the corporate world and politics. Psychopaths by definition are devoid of typical emotional responses and will make decisions that harm others that benefit themselves without guilt. Sociopaths can still feel something, but will ultimately do the same thing with just a fleeting sense of guilt that fades with every dirty dollar that rolls in. When you have too much money, power and control are all that's left! No, I don't feel sorry for these people, but I do for their subordinates!

Here's a question: are you satisfied with the distinctions between "psychopath" and "sociopath" given in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders?
      I admit I am not.
I do have a take on a meaningful distinction, but it would take at least an hour long video to lay out the groundwork to explain---which I obviously haven't done.
