The lens not having any sort of protector available is the one thing holding me back from purchasing the One RS, they have a lens cap, but that's it. Even the 3rd party "solution" I can find doesn't cover the entire lens and makes it kind of worthless. Glad to hear the ND filters are coming soon.
That's also my reason for not jumping onto this camera. I mean even GoPro returned to removable lens covers because of community feedback. I cannot count how many times my GoPros did get damaged on the lens and I was just happy to replace the cover cheap and keep shooting.
*Bought the insta360 4K Boost edition and then Got the 360 Lens and I LOVE IT. Still learning the 360 thing thru the App but LOVE It. Compared it too my GoPro Hero 9 and was impressed with the 360, Nice Review*

I use the ULANZ magnet mount that twist off. I use them on all my mounts to swap quickly. I got my new 360 one X2 and first day out scratched. It’s funny now cause I was doing a video on can you vlog with a Insta360 turned into a nightmare. 😢it’s getting repaired now.
Gahhh! Lens protectors are key with the 360 cams because man, one wrong tap and the lens is toast! When you get that thing back, for sure get those lens covers👍

The worst thing about Insta360 cameras is that when recording for more than 30 minutes the video is split into several clips that have 10-30 second gaps in between. So if you'd ever want to record more than 30 minutes you should consider other options.
Just like the last video about insta 360 one rs. 20% insta360 footage 80% garage. Hope that gopro vs insta 360 one rs upload will be better and full of actual videos and comparison.
I totally get that perspective, but I also disagree. The footage coming out of this thing is good and in the first video I showed that. The difference between the ONE RS and something like a GoPro really isn't that much in the footage or audio, it's in form factor. The points worth saying really have to do with that. Point noted though and I'll make sure to get more footage in there for you Melchi👍
With the quick reader, if you have a card in the camera itself and another card in the quick reader, can you select which card to save to? Do the camera recognizes both cards?
I don't see any video on the internet testing diving with this camera... I have One RS already and will test it soon. I want some 4-5 m diving testing, as it has 5m limit.
Regarding the battery of the OneR on the One RS case, it's important to note that the unit lacks the pressure locking all the pieces together which compromises the waterproofness of it. Love your videos dude.
I'm not sure what Insta360's official word would be on that, but I've for sure used it in that setup in the water and it's been great🤷♂ You're right though that they recommend only going in the water when the camera is in the cage so the parts don't pull apart and get water on the connector pins👍
Can you do a video comparing the 3: GoPro 10, dji action 2, Insta360 one rs? I would like to know the best use cases for each and if you would have to choose 1 for everything/overall - which would it be? (Can you primarily talk about vlogging & internal mic?)
First video had more sample footage, but the footage isn't really the notable part of this camera. Most action cameras are putting out great footage these days. What's notable is the form factor and how you actually use this camera. Also, nobody asked questions about the footage from the camera👍
I have the One RS with the 4K boost mod and the 360 mod HOWEVER I am contemplating buying the 1” Leica mod. Would be good to see a comparison in a vlogging scenario to see if the 1” is worth getting - as it’s around £290 to buy on its own. If it does make a decent difference then I will buy it.
@@flightographist no one said that it is a macro camera. If you hold it in your hand and point it at your face, your face will be out of focus, hence my answer for why this specific lens does not favor vlogging.
Is it possible to have the 4k lens with the screen frontal into the mount? As it seems in the video only the rear of the mount is totally open, on the front the left side is closed for some reason

Man, I wish I knew info about upcoming products, but I usually only get about a two week heads up when's something is coming. The ONE X2 is still top of the line for 360 cams on the market. The ONE X2 and ONE RS are almost identical with slight differences and obviously different form factors. You can't go wrong with a ONE X2!
@@DavidManningvlog my heart is still stuck on GO 2 for its ease of mounting,the filming time sucks but overall I like for its ease. But the app has so many cool templates for editing for One X 2 etc and very limited for GO2
Did you really forget, or was the video useless? I own the insta360 RS. With the 4k boost lens strapped to a chest mount, the image shakes violently with every step I take. However, the same setup riding a bike works great. Try it out. I love to see the results posted on your channel. I could be doing something wrong. Cheers!
Can you switch the modules while the camera is on or recording? If you start recording with a front screen can you switch to the rear screen while still recording? Do you have to stop the recording and switch from front to rear or rear to front then start recording again? Same question for the 4K camera and the 360 camera...?

The 360 mod lens is cool, the 4k mod lens is pretty good but what kills it for me is support and the app never works and lack of accessories. Should've paid extra for the GoPro....

That’s a tricky question! I think for straight chin mount moto vlogging, the GoPro is a compelling choice, because you can rock the media mod with a lapel mic into your helmet and have a really sweet setup. But the ONE RS is compelling because the twin edition also give you the flexibility of switching over to 360 for some epic shots that you could never get with the GoPro. The ONE RS has the audio adapter as well so you can still do the chin mount setup with a lapel mic. Damn dude, that’s a tough call!

Ah, I see what you mean Anthony! I might not have shown that well enough, but when you switch front “front screen” to “rear screen” within the cage, it’s actually the lens that flips. So the screen is always visible👍
I actually ended up not using the audio from the external recorder. But there was a whole lot of wind reduction on this audio because of the beach, so that's what you're hearing
Under your review, I purchased the Insta 360 One RS Twin edition. When I took it surfing and snorkeling, the camera kept freezing up. The blinking red light would turn solid and the only way to turn it off was to hold down the power button for a long time but more often, remove the battery. I was wondering if you had the same issues? If there was a setting I missed? I did lock the touchscreen but that didn't help. Do you think I might of gotten a defective camera?
How well does external audio work on this cam using the mic adapter? If you use one. I’m on gopro hero 10 and constantly have mic issues. Want to get the one rs to hopefully solve that issue, and have versatility/360 shots

There are 2 things, that can't be interchanged :) The old audio interface does not work with the new core. The new audio interface does not work with the old core.
@@DavidManningvlog The new audio interface is better in every way anyhow, as you can charge AND have an external mic. So it's worthwhile the investment, if one wants that feature.
Unfortunately whilst the body of the adapter is stronger and fits more securely in the frame and has both USB charge and mic input, the preamps and audio quality still is very poor.

Still thinking of getting this camera if I can justify it to myself. Between the OneX2 , the Go2 and the Gopro 10 I think I'm covered so it would definitely be an extreme vanity purchase. Cool bragging rights for a hobbyist. Just got a capsule powerbank for the Go2 (actually meant for the Oculus)
What about external audio is that a thing or is it just internal only? I like the idea of the module system but not being able to insert a SD card into it is kind of massive loss, especially if you put this outside of a car and it fills up while driving. Also is the card reader only lightening or do they sell a different version for Android?
Wait, maybe I misspoke about the reader. You can put an SD card in the ONE RS, but you can also use the external reader. So you have both options with the ONE RS👍
Insta has 1 person for the entire US to answer questions and problems. Currently they are out of stock on their mic adapter. What’s the purpose of having an external mic if there’s no adapter to make it work? Plus their tech support is in China and they only communicate by email during day time hours in China. They also take one day to respond during your e-mail conversations! Same problems
I don't know, I've talked to a few different people here in the US. Either way though man, the cameras are so damn good! What's the issue you're having with them besides the mic adapter?
@@DavidManningvlog you are correct, the new One RS and the 4k lens is a great camera. But like the one x2, is without it’s issues. Camera will stop recording sometimes while I am riding my motorcycle fitted to my helmet. But so far the only issue I’ve had on the RS so far. Their app is the best. But with every good product you need good customer service and support. There is only one lady who services the at least the west coast. She told me so. And tech support like I said is very hard to reach and once you do the communication is horrible. With that said, the One rs is cheaper than the Go pro max and 10, but Go pro service is so much better

Wow, I think I am going to buy the Insta360 ONE RS 4K addition because it covers more of what I want to use it for. I see it offers a Mic adaptor. Two questions: One, have you used an external mic and how did it work? I see you can charge the insta 360 while the mic adaptor is in place but can you do this while filming? This might resolve the GoPro Module Overheat for me by not getting another GoPro. I can't believe how cheap the accessories are as compared to GoPro. And if Dave Manning Likes it, its got to be good.😀

I have the One RS Twin Mod kit love it... however still not sold on the Flowstate. I still think it's a little jumpy. My BIGGEST complaint is that trying to move recordings off the the camera to a phone. They make you buy a $3 cable to do it. That's just wrong.

When using the one rs with the 360 lens how come i dont see an option for flowstate stability under settings in the camera like i do with the 4k boost lens?
I was wondering about exporting 360 video. When you export 360 video, do you export it in 4k from the insta360 studio, and then manipulate it from there in Premier? Or do you export in 1080p and then upscale in Premier? Or does it matter?
I'm looking to get a could of new/additional action cams, to 'compliment' my GoPro 8 Black. One is going to be the Insta360 Go 2 (as I need something tiny for mounting on RC vehicles & boats (especially the smaller ones). But, for the other, I'm still trying to decide between the Insta360 One RS, and the DJI Action 2. I should also mention I'll be getting the DJI Mic, which I know is compatible with both (even though the One RS requires the "external mic adapter"). First, what are your thoughts/opinions between these two? While image quality, color accuracy, and frame rate (especially high-speed, for slo-mo) are all important, image stabilization is also important (the GoPro 8 Black has 'very good' stabilization, but I'm looking for something 'better'). Second, are you aware of any update on any filters from Freewell for the One RS? I know you posted this video 7 months ago, yet the Freewell site still has no info about any such filters. Did they 'scrap' them? Are they still working on them? Seriously, what's happening?

Make sure you pickup the dive housing for it if you'll be shooting underwater. Without the dive housing, the 360 won't stitch properly👍

I'm not sure what Insta360's official word would be on that, but I've for sure used it in that setup in the water and it's been great🤷♂ You're right though that they recommend only going in the water when the camera is in the cage so the parts don't pull apart and get water on the connector pins👍

First video had more sample footage, but the footage isn't really the notable part of this camera. Most action cameras are putting out great footage these days. What's notable is the form factor and how you actually use this camera. Also, nobody asked questions about the footage from the camera👍

I have the One RS with the 4K boost mod and the 360 mod HOWEVER I am contemplating buying the 1” Leica mod. Would be good to see a comparison in a vlogging scenario to see if the 1” is worth getting - as it’s around £290 to buy on its own. If it does make a decent difference then I will buy it.

@@flightographist no one said that it is a macro camera. If you hold it in your hand and point it at your face, your face will be out of focus, hence my answer for why this specific lens does not favor vlogging.
Is it possible to have the 4k lens with the screen frontal into the mount? As it seems in the video only the rear of the mount is totally open, on the front the left side is closed for some reason

Yep, works perfectly! Technically, it's the lens that turns the other way in the case. The Core Mod stays facing the same way👍

Man, I wish I knew info about upcoming products, but I usually only get about a two week heads up when's something is coming. The ONE X2 is still top of the line for 360 cams on the market. The ONE X2 and ONE RS are almost identical with slight differences and obviously different form factors. You can't go wrong with a ONE X2!
@@DavidManningvlog my heart is still stuck on GO 2 for its ease of mounting,the filming time sucks but overall I like for its ease. But the app has so many cool templates for editing for One X 2 etc and very limited for GO2

I own the insta360 RS. With the 4k boost lens strapped to a chest mount, the image shakes violently with every step I take.
However, the same setup riding a bike works great.
Try it out. I love to see the results posted on your channel. I could be doing something wrong.

Can you switch the modules while the camera is on or recording? If you start recording with a front screen can you switch to the rear screen while still recording? Do you have to stop the recording and switch from front to rear or rear to front then start recording again? Same question for the 4K camera and the 360 camera...?
When switching mods, you have to remove the battery, so you can’t continue recording while mod switching

The 360 mod lens is cool, the 4k mod lens is pretty good but what kills it for me is support and the app never works and lack of accessories. Should've paid extra for the GoPro....

That’s a tricky question! I think for straight chin mount moto vlogging, the GoPro is a compelling choice, because you can rock the media mod with a lapel mic into your helmet and have a really sweet setup. But the ONE RS is compelling because the twin edition also give you the flexibility of switching over to 360 for some epic shots that you could never get with the GoPro. The ONE RS has the audio adapter as well so you can still do the chin mount setup with a lapel mic. Damn dude, that’s a tough call!

Ah, I see what you mean Anthony! I might not have shown that well enough, but when you switch front “front screen” to “rear screen” within the cage, it’s actually the lens that flips. So the screen is always visible👍

what external microphone are you using ? it sounds robotic/mechanical....
I actually ended up not using the audio from the external recorder. But there was a whole lot of wind reduction on this audio because of the beach, so that's what you're hearing
Under your review, I purchased the Insta 360 One RS Twin edition. When I took it surfing and snorkeling, the camera kept freezing up. The blinking red light would turn solid and the only way to turn it off was to hold down the power button for a long time but more often, remove the battery. I was wondering if you had the same issues? If there was a setting I missed? I did lock the touchscreen but that didn't help. Do you think I might of gotten a defective camera?

There are 2 things, that can't be interchanged :) The old audio interface does not work with the new core. The new audio interface does not work with the old core.

@@DavidManningvlog The new audio interface is better in every way anyhow, as you can charge AND have an external mic. So it's worthwhile the investment, if one wants that feature.
Unfortunately whilst the body of the adapter is stronger and fits more securely in the frame and has both USB charge and mic input, the preamps and audio quality still is very poor.

What about external audio is that a thing or is it just internal only? I like the idea of the module system but not being able to insert a SD card into it is kind of massive loss, especially if you put this outside of a car and it fills up while driving. Also is the card reader only lightening or do they sell a different version for Android?
Wait, maybe I misspoke about the reader. You can put an SD card in the ONE RS, but you can also use the external reader. So you have both options with the ONE RS👍

Insta has 1 person for the entire US to answer questions and problems. Currently they are out of stock on their mic adapter. What’s the purpose of having an external mic if there’s no adapter to make it work? Plus their tech support is in China and they only communicate by email during day time hours in China. They also take one day to respond during your e-mail conversations! Same problems

@@DavidManningvlog you are correct, the new One RS and the 4k lens is a great camera. But like the one x2, is without it’s issues. Camera will stop recording sometimes while I am riding my motorcycle fitted to my helmet. But so far the only issue I’ve had on the RS so far. Their app is the best. But with every good product you need good customer service and support. There is only one lady who services the at least the west coast. She told me so. And tech support like I said is very hard to reach and once you do the communication is horrible. With that said, the One rs is cheaper than the Go pro max and 10, but Go pro service is so much better

Wow, I think I am going to buy the Insta360 ONE RS 4K addition because it covers more of what I want to use it for. I see it offers a Mic adaptor. Two questions: One, have you used an external mic and how did it work? I see you can charge the insta 360 while the mic adaptor is in place but can you do this while filming? This might resolve the GoPro Module Overheat for me by not getting another GoPro. I can't believe how cheap the accessories are as compared to GoPro. And if Dave Manning Likes it, its got to be good.😀

I have the One RS Twin Mod kit love it... however still not sold on the Flowstate. I still think it's a little jumpy. My BIGGEST complaint is that trying to move recordings off the the camera to a phone. They make you buy a $3 cable to do it. That's just wrong.

I was wondering about exporting 360 video. When you export 360 video, do you export it in 4k from the insta360 studio, and then manipulate it from there in Premier? Or do you export in 1080p and then upscale in Premier? Or does it matter?

I'm looking to get a could of new/additional action cams, to 'compliment' my GoPro 8 Black. One is going to be the Insta360 Go 2 (as I need something tiny for mounting on RC vehicles & boats (especially the smaller ones). But, for the other, I'm still trying to decide between the Insta360 One RS, and the DJI Action 2. I should also mention I'll be getting the DJI Mic, which I know is compatible with both (even though the One RS requires the "external mic adapter").
First, what are your thoughts/opinions between these two? While image quality, color accuracy, and frame rate (especially high-speed, for slo-mo) are all important, image stabilization is also important (the GoPro 8 Black has 'very good' stabilization, but I'm looking for something 'better'). Second, are you aware of any update on any filters from Freewell for the One RS? I know you posted this video 7 months ago, yet the Freewell site still has no info about any such filters. Did they 'scrap' them? Are they still working on them? Seriously, what's happening?
