I was raised in a Pentecostal church and we were NOT allowed to listen to "Devil music" like Heavy Metal or even "Hard" rock....so in addition to checking out Rap and Hip-Hop, I'm interested in exploring types of music like this that I've never heard before! SO today is Iron Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name". The band was recommended to me in a comment, which I REALLY appreciate.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

Iron Maiden is the best live band ever. Their concerts are like watching a Heavy Metal opera. Most of their songs are about history or literature, but sometimes they just tell a story like this one. They are all in their 60s now, recently released a great album and still killing it on tour.

No devils music with Iron Maiden. If you want lessons in history or some great storytelling then you can't go wrong. Everyone not in the know looks at their Album 'Number of the Beast" and makes assumptions. The song was actually about a nightmare the bassist had after watching 'The Omen" when he was a kid. Nothing sinister at all but people jumped on the bandwagon. A very educated band. The singer is chairman of an aviation company and he pilots a 747, he's an author, producer, fencer , a real entrepreneur. They're still touring after 40+ years as a band. Definitely some great songs to react to from their 17 albums. Best to listen to them live

It's quite ironic, too. Without the whole "Satanic Panic" thing from religious conservatives, "Number of the Beast" wouldn't have sold NEARLY as well as it did and Maiden likely wouldn't have caught on in the USA (becoming **THE** New Wave of British Heavy Metal band in the process).
The whole thing basically amounted to free publicity.

Iron Maiden is (for me & millions of people) THE best band ever.
I play music since 1987 and i still love it.
Best albums : pièce of mind, seven son of the seven son, danse of the death, Powerslave, live after death... all of them indeed.
The best is to listen in a car.
Welcome to the Word of Iron Maiden.

I have to agree with you. I've gone through many different phases of musical tastes, but Iron Maiden is one of the few bands that I always gravitate back to. They are a very creative and musically solid band. Not to mention you can get a history or literary lesson while enjoying the incredible jammage.

Great Reaction!!! Better late than never..... I have been fortunate enough to see Iron Maiden in concert 15 times, the last four shows with my adult boys. Always a great experience. They are by far my favorite band. They have tons of great songs, check out Dance of Death, live in Chile, Fear of the Dark, live in Rio. Live version of Paschendale, The Trooper in Chile, and of course Rime of the Ancient Mariner, etc. Up the Irons!!

They are absolutely amazing, you can’t believe that they are over their sixties (I listen to them since I was only 14 yrs old, and now I’m 54), everything was exactly as I dreamt of, no flaws, an exquisite show, so, gents, Iron Maiden!

I just stumbled on your videos and enjoy watching them, knowing that you and I have similar backgrounds. Mine was Baptist, but just like you, rock music was the devil's music and wasn't allowed. Going to a public school in the 80s, I was exposed to some, but not much. I am a metal head at heart and it wasn't until I got more into my 40s that I started listening to the music of "my generation" and it bums me out that I missed out on so much great music. Trying to make up for lost time now! Anyway, I enjoyed your reaction!

I am really into metal - but i listen to completely other types of metal music for more than 20 years! When I was kicked out from my house I had no tv just my mobile and unlimited data, I started to listen to all the (historical) big ones in heavy metal! Since these days I adore and admire Iron Maiden, it’s not a question of a genre! They are instrumentally, vocally,
    Lyrically,
Emotionally,… too great not to adore them 😝🤘♥️

To see the joy on your face watching this was just brilliant. You're never too old to rock. I've just subscribed, so I'm looking forward to watching you make your way along your Rock/Metal musical journey. You should try Iron Maiden's, 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner', (live in Rio version). It's based on, Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 1834 poem of the same name.
More bands you might want to try. Some all-time classics through the decades to begin with -
    60's - The Who - My Generation
70's - AC/DC - Highway To Hell (live at River Plate)
80's - Metallica - One (official video version)
90's - Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
00's - System Of A Down - Aerials (official video version)
    10's - Muse - Psycho
    Enjoy! :-)

Excellent choice for the first Iron Maiden song to react to. 😉👍
Brings back memories back to 1987 when seeing them live as a "youngster" at Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮 with special guest W.A.S.P
Gotta type down, the whole musical experience was one awesomeness for a pre-teen Heavy Rocker.
It's kinda pain-easing to watch when people discover bands/artists like this while suffering symptoms of this freakin Corona thing. ✌️😷 👌
Thank you for the cool reaction män.
    Cheers from Finland 🇫🇮 🥶 💯 💙

I like your reaction to Maiden. Yeah Iron Maiden write songs that always have an impact on your thoughts and emotions because they always write very good stories within their lyrics. It’s like listening to a short novel with these excellent musicians performing before your eyes, and Maiden in concert are one of the best at the top of their game. I’m 63 years old now but in the early 80’s and 90’s I have seen them perform in concert 4 times. Always brilliant and always entertaining. Great band. “Fear of the Dark” is a great song live, check it out 🇦🇺👏👏

You’re a cool guy mister. We seem to be about the same age and I was also raised in the church. But I rebelled at an early age. Luckily I had two great parents who helped me find myself. My dad was there when I signed up for drum lessons. He sang bass in the church choir and understood the importance of music in the soul. When I started listening to heavy music he would just shake his head. No more Barry Manilow or Engelbert Humperdinck or Johnny Mathis pumping out of the speakers.

the singer Bruce Dickinson is widely considered to be one of the top 3 best metal singers, along with Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Ronnie James Dio. All 3 are very good singers and definitely worth checking out. many songs are actually not as evil as people think you will actually find many songs that have religious inspiration and most metal heads are actually some of the nicest people you will meet. Ronnie James Dio was considered by many to be one of the nicest people they knew.

No idea why everyone thinks it goes with the devil. It only works if you're trying to find bad Maiden songs, because then you're going to have a hard time. ;) I've been listening to them for almost 40 years now, no one messes with Maiden. Making a good suggestion for a song is all the more difficult. There are too many. One song I've heard thousands of times and still get goosebumps with is "The Sign Of The Cross", but like I said, one of many. "up the Irons" and greetings from Germany. PS: think about another two songs from the guys and you might not get away from it.

I actually shared this song with my mother to prove it WASN'T "Devil music."
At its core, this is a song about an unnamed prisoner on death row, the day of his execution.
Through the song, the prisoner goes through anticipation to dispair to fear and outright terror... To a profession of faith... "don't I believe there never is an end?"
This leads to confusion and anger which he works through until he arrives at peace and serenity, an assuredness that he's going to a better place.
By the time he gets to the gallows, he's in such a good place because of his faith that he's joyously singing the Lord’s Prayer at the top of his lungs: "Yeah, Yeah! Hallowed be thy name!"
This song may as well be a hymn.

Iron Maiden recommendations (watch the "Lyrics" versions because they all tell stories):
"The Trooper" - about a British cavalry charge at the Battle of Sebastopol during the Crimean War of 1854. Inspired by the poem "Charge of the Light Brigade" by Sir Alfred Lord Tennyson
"Invaders" - about the viking raid on the monastery at Lindesvarn, England (1st recorded viking raid on England)
"Aces High" - about the Battle of Britain from the point of view of a Spitfire pilot
"Paschendale" - about the Battle of Paschendale on the Western Front during WW1
"Alexander the Great" - self explanatory
"Run for the Hills" - about the European conquest of North America. 1st half from the POV of a Northeastern Atlantic Coast Indian, the 2nd half from the POV of a Buffalo Soldier

Yup like most here will tell you too... Iron maiden aren't... Devil worshippers at all... They are story tellers, virtually every song is a history lesson... I guarantee the more you hear of them the more you will love them. From the rime of the ancient mariner to there recently released the writing on the wall... And they are still as good now even tho there in there 60s and the singer has recovered from throat cancer and is an international fencer.. and airline pilot!

Great song to start with...one of Maiden's best IMO. I was fortunate to have seen them twice back in my teen years in the 80's and once in 2000 with my wife (they were on tour with Queensryche and Rob Halford). They are a great live band....but there's nothing wrong with their studio work. I see in your list of videos on your channel that you've now done Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Queensryche. Now you have to add Dio to that list...Ronnie James Dio was one of the best metal vocalists of all time. Please check out Holy Diver...your choice if you wanna check out the studio version or a live version. Cheers!

Maiden’s studio work compared to their explosive live sets is chalk and cheese.
Check out their live performance of Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
An epic anthem that all Maiden fans love.

Best band ever... Before you get into their awesome live stuff, try 1 of the few songs/albums you cant find live... Caught Somewhere In Time from the album Somewhere In Time... Or other songs like Deja Vu, Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, Alexander The Great (all on same album) or most anything from the Powerslave album especially the song Powerslave also the Dune song To Tame A Land on the Piece of Mind album

@@citywoof Some of their good stuff is from their live shows like flight 666 en vivo. It was filmed professionally. They have huge audiences who sometimes join in with the singing... like the song Fear of the Dark. Nice music too. Bruce Dickinson, lead singer has a great voice

If you want to expand a bit watch Rammstein ich tu dir Weh the new York live show. Great rhythmic stage show and pyrotechnics. If you're sensitive skip the lyric translation. But lovely voice range and changes.

Well you can go down the Maiden rabbit hole, they just released their 17th studio album last year. Been listen to them since 1982. Iron Maiden has many songs revolving around history. I'd recommend The Longest Day(about D Day landing), Alexander the Great (about Alexander the Great's life), The Trooper (about the Crimeon War), Rime of the Ancient Mariner (after the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge), Aces High (about WWII dogfighting), Paschedale (about the WWI battle at Paschedale) That should be a good start.

You have a lot of homework. Just going through the classic rock songs would take you months. Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen, Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits, Hotel California by The Eagles, Wayward Son by Kansas and thousands more. Look for Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, King Crimson very deep lyrics and excellent musical arrangements.
Don't miss "Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath, preferably live with Ronnie James Dio in the lead vocals.
    Enjoy.
