actually its not infinite!
his super meter does go down. its that he now require 50% instead of his super energy instead of having a full bar.
its cheap as hell but at least it is NOT TRULY INFINITE ALA #KOF96 & #KOF2001

What a lot of people don’t realize is that they gave Boss Goenitz his infinite Super meter from back in ‘96

while he doesnt require a full meter, it do decrease.
if it wasn't, he would be doing A LOT of his combo super cancels or spamming that vacuum super ala like those #KOF2001 bosses (zero & lovable ignitz)

True but in truth he is more or less a cult leader.... He doesn't care for the abrahamic god or any gods for that matter, save one. The eight-headed serpent god, Orochi. He is devoted to his task as a Herald of it's coming.
Meterless Yami Dokaku was a thing in '96 too, so it's kind of a callback
It all his non-ex supers tho, they all decrease by a stock... So Level Ones are FREE, Levels 2's are now Level Ones while Climaxes and the Hidden Desperation Move are Level 2, -which is fine since his max bar is two stocks anyway- Or not... he has a five stock max.
Before is was just Yami Dokaku.

I would say that it is at the level of the old bosses since originally you also had to resort to ridiculous tactics like those where a mistake left you sold
not to mention that sometimes they seem to be more "gentle" than others
I beat Goenitz with Omega Rugals genocide cutter. He kept jumping against me, and somehow it worked🤣🤣
Yeah, for some reason, his AI doesn't react to projectile jump-ins to DP's, lol. (Even though he could counter with an aerial normal, but doesn't.) Making Omega Rugal (and a few others that can projectile into DP) an easy way to cheese the fight, lol.

Interesting. For 98 Rugal this same tactic works except for throwing fireball, you run to Rugal from far, Rugal will jump, DP his ass down. After DP backdash, run, DP. Repeat.
This version of Goenitz is far more difficult than his 96 or 2002 UM versions. There were easy exploits you could use then. Here he just punishes any mistake with a super.
Nah his 96 version has meterless supers too. In that version too he had only like 1 counter and that was Chin. But the xv and 96 seems tied on strength while the 2002um version is just alright
@@hoovybeast0594 I know he had meterless supers in 96, but he mostly used his command grab, which was far less painful than the autocombo super. And Goenitz in 96 had far less punish and rushdown options than he does in XV. He was dangerous in 96 because once he has a life lead he can just zone you all day since you can't roll past his tornadoes, and if you close in, he's likely to grab you instead.
This version on the other hand actually has good anti airs that make it extremely dangerous to jump in, has much better combo options and mix ups and a much improved version of his 2002UM HSDM that's unblockable at any range. Previously it was only dangerous up close, and the tornado he throws wasn't much of a threat if you got hit by it. This boss version Goenitz is now dangerous at any range without losing his fundamental strength as a zoner. Magaki was deadly at range but if you manage to dodge his projectiles and close in he wasn't too hard to punish. Goenitz's HSDM here has invincibility frames to outlast anything you throw at him.

It took me longer to beat Rugal than it did Goenitz.
Welp makes sense. Goenitz is canonically much more powerful than Omega Rugal after all.

Funnily enough that's also Geonitz's greatest strength.
To give you a sense how cheap this fella was - he can combo you from the anti air special move into not one but TWO tornadoes (normal ones). If he decides on the EX version, prepare to eat a Super.😂
Another boss was defeated by a CPU's worst enemy... Getting grabbed, and feeling compelled to press a button on wake up, so disappointing.
even back in '96 he was exploitable, but otherwise stupid hard to fight straight up

The key to beat goenitz is to do nothing and just wait for him to do shit. In short to beat the cheap ai you must become the cheap ai

Exploits are still part of the game... if they don't want you to use them, they'd fix it
The funniest thing is, the announcer during the loading screen sounds less scared when you face Goenitz than when you face Rugal, despite Goenitz being the harder boss
Because Rugal has a habit of being a piss baby and blowing up the current vicinity whenever he loses.

Magaki boss challenge would be hell
You can escape his cheated super by going back to the opposite side of the screen and then we he send you his tornado, you perform an emergency escape at the right time, but if you decide to block the tornado, you will get a guard break and little damage :)

@@aarongallardo3684 Magaki is a pipsqueak compared to XV Goenitz. I've beaten Magaki numerous times in the past, and I can say with 100% certainty XV Goenitz is on a whole other level. Pro player AI, ridiculous damage output, and others. I'm very glad he doesn't recover each rounds, or else he'll be almost impossible to beat.

I beat Omega Rugal and this guy back to back... haven't played much of 15 since it came out, but have some extensive experience with older KoF games at a mid player level... had not played the game since the Rugal update but never attempted the actual Boss Challenge. Rugal took me about less than 10 fights with B.Jenet, Yamazaki & Sylvie... the team I want to play with long term since Sylvie's release & the cross play patch dropping.
Goenitz tho... took me like 2 hours of malding. My saving grace was Yamazaki's counter, you can sort of get him on a counter hitting loop if you time it right on every single one of his wake ups, don't do it too early because Goenitz will input read you and sit in front of you until the end of your animation to destroy you... also the tornado from a far super you can partially block it and guard cancel roll past it for almost no damage, or just time react roll through it when he sends it out which can vary the timing when Goenitz CPU decides to throw it at you... or I noticed just 2-3 different timings. Well... did it, and never went back. I was thinking of switching teams or look up a strat but stuck to it because of stubbornness and because I started noticing the Yamazaki counter strat working.

Bested him with Kyo/Iori/Terry, an old team of mine. My exploit was using a rekka after crouching light punch, which Kyo and Iori had. My Terry finished him off with a Buster Wolf

Story-wise everyone got resurrected, unfortunately Orochi wasn't dead to begin with. He's just being sealed.
If they stick to canon, they aren't going for Orochi and jump to Krizalid and the rest of NEST saga boss.

@@kue5053 Rugal also did get a slight AI buff to his Boss Challenge, some AI exploits like the Maxima cheese (Down + HP into Vapor Cannon) doesn't work as much anymore (9 times out of 10, he actually blocks it). They also have the annoucer say something new during the VS screen against Rugal.
