Mr Kunle Afod well done and The Mum a good job well done to you. I work with Autistic children in schools. Next time you are going out or in a different environment from where she is used to, take familiar toys, games or books to occupy her and before the day pre warn her, show her the plan for the day and let her hold it. May God's healing hand be upon her
In fact, she is a great mother, full of love and compassion for her daughter. Mothers of autistic children should be helped and celebrated. They are dealing with what 10 women would find difficult doing.
We have a long way to go in Nigeria . If she were in UK, she would have 2 carers assisting her 24hours and live a better life . May God continue to strengthen the mum cos she’s indeed a great woman.
Mum Faizah, I advise u let Faizah listen to Chapters/verses of the Qur'an instead of musics. Recitations from sweet voices would surely, always calm her down ND even go to sleep easily ND even serve as therapy. Pls, try it for her ma. I am sure Allah will ease her affairs in Sha Allah. E ku itoju o. May Allah always strengthen u ND make u live healthy and longer.
This is what I do for my son . He is 9. I started introducing him to listening to the Quran as early as possible. We listen to sura taha and omar hisham recitation it helps cam him. And now he can recite many verses of the Quran. He is 9 years old and autistic
Kudos to this woman. I have a cousin who has a 4yrs old child who is non verbal autistic kid like this and the wife had to resign n become a permanent carer for the child, therapy upon therapy, doctors visits. I feel so sad for the wife because she was a manager at a blue chip company. The good thing is that they are abroad n they get benefits from government every month, doctor visitations n medication is free. Everything has to be different, he wakes up early listening to a particular song, if it’s a different song there is trouble, he eats banana in the morning if it’s a different food, there is trouble, he can’t eat a hard food in the morning it has to be soft like banana. Mark Zuckerberg the owner of Facebook n one of the richest person on earth has a form of autism as a kid but early detection n his dad being a psychiatrist helped him.. I pray God give this woman strength…
Women are Genius, May God continue to be with all Mothers and let them all reap the fruit of their labor. God of total healing will heal you Farida, Kunle Afod, More power to your elbow. ❤
I will advice you ma to make her listining to Coran with the word and power of Allah she can be calme insha Allah. More strenght to u and longlife to you ma. If not for u noone can play your role for your daughter 😢😢. Alhamdullillah always
She has acute Sensory Processing Disorder. She's getting sensory overload being in a foreign environment, strange faces, having to sit still for long, and can't control it. I pray she gets rest. May God bless her mum for her love, patience, and perseverance.
Weldone Kunle! This is truly inspiring! I am happy that you started this in Nigeria. What she's displaying right there in your office is a melt down typical of people with autism. I have worked with young autistic adults here in the UK for about 20years now and I tell you their brilliance is second to none. What the mum should have done before bringing her over to you is some sensory toys or whatever she uses to avert any meltdown. Autism, asperges syndrome are manageable with the right medications and like I mentioned before sensory toys. Kudos to this mother. Let me know how I can help I the way of giving some sensory toys to help the young lady.
Caring for such people is one of the reasons why people like us have work to do here , they are many here as well but there is adequate care and support from their government, and people with Autism or Learning disability are able to do what normal people can do and ease the stress of their parents or carers.
This is so emotional, and this woman really try with all the challenges. Destiny helper will locate you ma. Western world is the better place to get your proper care for the lady with 💯 full support
It is so sad to see this child. I have some of my patients that have autism and I feel for their parents all the time. Unfortunately, there is no cure even here in the USA. I pray for Mum, she needs strength.
I cannot imagine what mother and child going through. May God strenghten her Mum and heal the girl IJN Amen. Can't the Government take over her case, and help this unfortunate girl.
Oh my God, if this girl is in UK, she will make her family rich because the UK government will provide everything for her. Because they know her type don't have life so they make sure she enjoy life. Nigeria have a long way to go.
Mr. Kunle, i have shared this before, but i can see this video here is longer, that's why i copy to share once again. My first child (son) is 13 - He is yet to talk, walk or do anything all by himself (he is John). he screams like this as well. Sometimes it looks like cerebral palsy, and often time similar to Autism. Both cerebral palsy and autism are spectrum disorders, meaning that they involve a wide range of symptoms and severities. As a result, no two cases of cerebral palsy or autism are the same. 1. Cerebral palsy primarily affects motor functioning, movements, balance, posture, and coordination. 2. Autism mainly affects behaviour, communication skills, social interactions, and language. Cerebral palsy is caused by severe brain damage before, during, or shortly after birth - Note, they can both occur together in one child (My own child has both) Co-occurrence: About 7% of children with cerebral palsy have co-occurring autism. It was discovered few hours after he was born (about 6hrs). We were referred to child children hospital in Festac. Lagos State govt during Fashola's time had arrangement with the hospital to care for newly born babies with challenges. What is the possible cause? (They are numerous possible causes) - 1&2 below caused that of my son (he had cord tied around his neck, the midwife at General Hospital didn't discover it on time, leading to strangulation & asphyxiation and he was unconscious for about 7 mins - In that period, there was short supply of oxygen to the brain, which had damaged part of the brain leading to what they called Hypoxia or hypoxic Ischemia. Which eventually develops to cerebral palsy or autism depending on the specific cause. 1. Prolonged labour 2. Short supply of oxygen (asphyxiation) to the brain during few seconds of birth. 3. Bacterial and viral infections while pregnant 4. Maternal autoimmunity 5. Environmental toxicants, including air pollution, heavy metals, and pesticides Treatment / Cure There is no known cure, but they undergo therapy, drugs (expensive), periodical test to check their improvement. Each therapy session is 50k for private therapist (at least 4 times a month). There are NGOs that does that for free in Lagos as well, but it may take forever to get to your child as there are many of them. The medications are to continue to help to assit them in feeding, gradual development of the brain cause the damage is to the brain and neuron cells. Though, no known cure, they eventually outgrow it, and become well. Just that they have setback in life, they don't act their age, or don't look their age. Schools: We have special schools and special hospitals for them (very expensive), there are privately run, government run, and NGOs. The NGOs and government run has a quota yearly bcos of space, it will take forever to get your child there. It is because the children stay there as boarder, and they provide all the necessary care for them. If it is too overwhelmed, there won't be attention on the kids, and this is not good for them. Hospital: There are countless of hospitals (Lagos & Ibadan has many) Govt, NGOs and private. Lagos 1. Patrick Speech and Language Centre, Ikeja, Lagos PSLC provides specialized educational services for individuals living with Autism in Nigeria. They are located at Patrick Speech and Languages Centre 13b Remi-Fanikayode Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos. 2. Kids Start right, Ikeja, Lagos 3. Anthos House, Lekki, Lagos 4. Modupe Cole Memo rial Child, Lagos - No1, St. Finbarr College Road, Akoka Ibadan 5. Treasures Delight Care Services - NO 5, N close 7up road oluyole industrial estate Ibadan, oyo state Abuja 6. C.A..D.E.T Academy, Abuja - Block L2, No 13, Uruguay Street, Maitama, Abuja. 7. Centre for Children With Special Needs, Abuja - 4 Lake Chad Crescent, Off IBB Way, Maitama District FCT-Abuja, 8. Olg Health Foundation and Autism Centre, Abuja - Alex Ekwueme Way, Jabi, and Abuja FCT in Nigeria. 9. Hope House Initiative is located at Plot 61 Dahiru Sale Street off road 622, 6th Avenue Gwarimpa Unfortunately: Even in abroad, they don't have any cure for them, just that governments have more facilities to take care of the kids - schools and therapy centres to assist the parents. I hope this helps, Mr. Kunle. I am Joseph, a Lagosian from Badagry. I spoke as an experienced parent with a similar child, using my knowledge as a Botany graduate and from LASU many years ago. That helped me in researching on this over the years.
Autistic children don’t like changes, being in this kind of environment especially with unknown faces and environment will trigger her more hence her constant tantrums. Strength to the mother, May the good Lord see her through 🙏🏼.
For no reason will I ever stop loving you my wonderful friend faisat 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 weldon mum indeed you are super mum ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️... Kudos to you Mr. Kunle Afod God bless you sir...
If it's in a western country, or some 3rd world countries where their leaders lead them with the fear of God, the mother will be collecting benefits to help take care of her, including free medical care, etc. But in Nigeria, all you hear is prayers with no definite action. I pray 🙏 that God heal her and give her mom the strength to take good care of her. Amen 🙏
i was in a church one Sunday, I heard a little girl of about 5 years scream this same way and I was sited in front of the little girl with her parents beside her. on hearing the screaming, I jumped up and said TANIYEN ( WHO IS THAT ) the whole church looked at me as if I had done something wrong. unknowing to me that the little girl was autistic. it was a friend of mine who later informed me after church about the girl. I felt so sad , the parent must have been going through a lot.
Dang I wish she had a therapist. With therapy, At 24 she should be able to express herself with words. The mother has done well. God is their strength. More blessings bless this girl and her mother. Thank you for sharing Mr. Afod, much respect from the States 🙏🏿❤
