It's the important scene in Kevin's career. It catapulted him to play serious heavier roles. Before JFK, he was typecast as the Footloose kid. After JFK, he got better, more dramatic roles.
Kevin Bacon nails O'Keefe. He's a poet: "Oh I got nothing but time, Mr Garrison. Minutes, hours, days, years of it. Time just stands still here - like a snake, sunning itself on the road."
Brilliant movie. Regardless of whether you believe it or not, JFK is superb. The acting, cinematography, script, direction, soundtrack and editing are sublime.
Movie lets Kennedy's murderer off the hook falsely paints a lot of innocent people as murderers and traitors, and tells more than 80 demonstrable and highly relevant lies in its narrative.
Bacon wasn't in the movie but for a hot second but I remember his performance so vividly. When ever I think of the movie I always think of his character first.
They intentionally weren't main stream, regular people. You need to have and keep them on the fringe so there's no paper trail or any other kind of trail. Ironically Oswald was the most normal.

After seeing footage of the real Jim Garrison, I wonder if John Lithgow should have played the role. Costner was great, but Garrison is taller than Costner and so is Lithgow.

@@codeysnow2980 I agree that Costner was perfect for this role and was actually Oscar worthy in his performance. I just think that Lithgow, overall, and taking into account the totality of both their careers, is the better actor.

Oliver stone on commentary of the directors cut said he’s a composite character based off two real life people. One is in according to Oliver the film when a guy says they should give Oswald a medal.
Willie spoke of a party where he met Oswald for the first time. So Willie mingled with the same circle of people that Oswald (the supposed assassin of JFK) was reported to run with when he was in New Orleans the summer prior to the assassination. So I'd say it had something to do with the assassination. How much, who knows? But I wouldn't say it was nothing.
When I realized we are in a fascist country this scene came to mind. This was back in the 60s. Of course this video doesnt show it but he does say fascism is coming back. Welcome back.
Kevin bacon is an excellent underrated actor. He has a great career but his role in this movie it’s just soo bad. Bad casting choice and acting 🤢 This movie is amazing but bacon isn’t the best part
This has to be one of Kevin Bacon's best scenes ever. The speech with Garrison was delievered brilliantly. Well written and well acted.
It’s also the lynchpin of the Kevin Bacon game
