Dr. Douglas J. Lisle, Ph.D.is the co-author of The Pleasure Trap available here:
    www.amazon.com/dp/1570671974?...
Dr. Doug Lisle is an evolutionary psychologist and co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering the Hidden Force that Undermines Health and Happiness. He and his colleagues (Jennifer Howk and Richard Seidel) have developed a revolutionary method for approaching life challenges and improving self-confidence and self-esteem. They describe their approach as Esteem Dynamics - an approach with clinical insights derived from evolutionary psychology.
Central figures having major influence on the development of Esteem Dynamics include Richard Dawkins, John Tooby and Leda Cosmides, David Buss, Robert Trivers, Steven Pinker, and Geoffrey Miller. All of these individuals are considered world-leading theorists in evolutionary theory and human psychology. Somewhat surprisingly, insights from these trailblazers has yet to reach mainstream clinical psychology, and thus major advances stemming from some of the world’s greatest thinkers have yet to be systematically applied to problems of helping people improve their lives. Esteem Dynamics is the first such effort, and weds Dr. Lisle’s 30-years of clinical experience to the deep insights into human nature only recently available via evolutionary psychology.
Dr. Lisle received his undergraduate education from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Virginia, and was then appointed Lecturer in Psychology at Stanford University. His research and clinical interests include health and wellness, self-esteem, relationship satisfaction, the treatment of anxiety and depression, the genetics of individual differences, and optimizing achievement motivation. In addition to his work with Esteem Dynamics, Dr. Lisle lectures widely on health and wellness.
Dr Lisle is available at selected days and times for a one-to-one, personal phone consultation:

Nice show. It's interesting how we all worry about our appearance. I am 66 and feel good since I have inherited good skin from my parents. My dad is 93 and looks great. He has just written a book ( Fit at any age) and he long ago told me the secret of good skin. Run and sweat and the glow you get is better than any makeup. I follow his rule.

I’m 57, but in my mind I’m 35! It totally sucks that my numbers are getting higher. The other option doesn’t appeal (6 ft under) ! I take care of myself, eat WFPB and mostly SOS free , I’m active and have a lovely social community. But I believe my attitude has the most influence!! A zest for life keeps me young.

Just kept talking to young people, they need us more than ever for advice & guidance. They will except u. Most young people are raising themselves today. Many don't have fathers & single working absent mothers!

What a fun surprise guest. I think she should ask her husbands help with her meals since he is a chef. If he makes it, he may be more likely to eat her way. Even small changes makes a difference.

Insomnia - on MedCram is a two hour lecture. The two doctors, basically two lectures. "Sunlight - Optimize Health and Immunity" (Light Therapy and Melatonon)". It was good, the effects of light and messing up your inner clock. My cats have trained me to wake up at 03:00. Smile. I mess myself up by listening to lectures at night, falling asleep with an earphone on.

We are all a little ocd about appearance in the modern world. I agree with this so much. Television/movie/fashion models (unattainable beauty standards) don't help. Being in competition with others all the time doesn't help either

Thank you for the video! I've dropped a lot of weight on my own without surgery; started dieting (seriously) in my late 40's, now I am 54. Now the challenge is to keep it off, and it's been over a year so far and it's staying off.

Just follow the calorie density chart. It really works. Got off all dry boxed cereal with my coffee & lost another 12 lbs.

For those who wake up at 3 am: do you drink any caffeine at all? Green tea, black tea or coffee? If I have too much ( 3 cups of green tea or more in one day) I too wake up at 3 am too. Just cut it out completely. I agree about camping though. I’ve done that and marvelled about sleeping from 7 pm to 7 am.

My students tell me I look younger than I did last month. I got sick, shaved, and lost about seven pounds in that time but I tell them I don’t age. 🤪

I read in a science journal recently that people’s teeth in the stone age was much better than ours and probably had a lovely breath, because they had a wonderful microbiome. Unlike us apparently. Isn’t that quite a surprise. There must be some advantages to our civilisation, like medicine. Healing injuries, saving premature children for example. Possibly avoiding starvation due to agriculture. But so many disadvantages.

Looks and aging? Adequate sleep makes such a difference! I wish I could do make-up. I'm fit, but not foxy at 60. I look very good for a 60 y.o. physically. Not being obese and being strong is a big thing - exercise. You see former models and actrices complaining that they no longer turn the heads and young - and old - guys are not interested in them. Youth and fertility win. I avoid strong lighting and looking in the mirror for all of my flaws. On photos I'm shocked at how I look, those high def cameras - bla! I'm not in the dating market, do I'm not as critical as people looking for a new love relationship.
