    Heard good things about this meter. www.dxengineering.com/parts/mtn-swrmeter

      I have 2 of these and they are as accurate as my Bird43. They are a bargain for the level of accuracy they provide.

      @@mostlypostie1 I'd wait a little bit on these. They need to up quality control a little bit first. Just because one person says "same as bird" doesn't reflect other users comments. I don't think the price is a bargain either because it's micro-sized. Cost to manufacture is prob only 20% of what is sells for too. NAFTA is what killed good o'l USA Electronics engineering. Tired of crap imports ESPECIALLY FROM CHINA.

      @@RogerBrenon let me clarify that. It is as accurate as a Bird 43, a brand new calibrated Spectrum Analyser, and a new LP-100a. Also, it's made in Australia. It's a quality device that has been in the market for a few years already. 73.

    I've had one of these for about a year. What it really does for me is give me an indication my radio(s) and amp are working/responding as expected. I acknowledge the values may be/are off, but it still provides useful indications, especially peak-hold. I’m still liking and using the K-PO DX5000 plus I got from you almost two years ago. The DX5000 shines on FM and I can’t ever see buying another radio without NR. David E.

    Cool video Brother! Good seeing the comparison of a Daiwa to the LP100A. 🎙🎙🎙

    I have 2 one for vhf-uhf and another for GMRS. They help you watch for high SWR, and look good around your radio's. Now I need one for HF rig. I use one for each radio, they are not cheap but are worth the investment to protect your radio's. About 169.00 ea.

    Hi Mike. I have the exact same meter here. And i really like it. I find it accurate as well . Best 73s hope to talk to you on the band again soon . WR456🇬🇧 Richy.

    It is a cool looking meter anyhow !
    It definetly has a place on a bench.

    Thank you for this Mike. I have been eying this meter and the big "true peak" MFJ meter. My only requirements are a decent powered pep reading and swr readings for 6m too.

    @bblod4896 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah, they are decent meters. The reflect meter makes reading reflect easy, no adjustments needed.

    Hello Scott. I have this meter, and the SWR needle does not move. Whats the trick? I see yours does not move either, but you’re on a dummy load.

    Nice meter , I have a MFJ 30- 3000 and it seems to act funny . Seems to be fine on peak , but when I push the average power button it goes crazy and makes my radio go off frequency. Any ideas ? Not to much money but has me wanting a new one .
    73ZZzzz Sir love your videos

      Thanks for watching my videos.
      That's a really strange one.
      Never heard of a meter doing that before.

    I have a 901 for a while, I do like it. I think there is a delay adjustment on the back for the peak and hold function. I could be wrong. If it does, I never messed with mine. It does have to have power for the PEP function to work, and on mine I think it has to be on AVG for it to read SWR. Or maybe I have that backwards? I got it for under 180$ a few yrs ago for the larger scale. I still have my CN-501H which is inline currently, it does have a PEP/AVG but no hold. Its good from 1.3-150mhz Its has the smaller scale. It seems to be a little more "accurate" in its readings VS the 901. But like your saying, great for a monitoring device that's "fairly" close. Now come to think of it, I may have the 901 HP and not the HP3? I'll have to look now..lol Its packed away from a previous relocate/move. This might be the difference in that powered Peak hold, no swr reading function? and they changed it so it does (HP3)

    You could always open it up and calibrate it to the LP100A..😊

    • @ScottsRadios
      @ScottsRadios  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In theory it sounds doable. But in reality the Diawa meter is not designed to be as accurate as a LP 100A.
      Same as when people say they calibrate a meter to a bird 43p.
      You can't recalibrate a meter with a poorly designed peak detection circuit to a meter with a quality peak detection circuit.

    I got a small MFJ meter like that. reads about the same. maybe a tad better. I don't care about precise numbers. the reflect power to me with the power forward has more info to me on how my antenna is doing. just a glance tells me if radio power or reflect is bad. 73'

    Dosey test center lol, I had one, and what a can of mess that was , I got 2 bird meters and definitely love the LP 100, well you have to start somewhere lol

      @ScottsRadios  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used to use a Dosy Test Center in my younger days.
      If only they would put a real peak circuit in those meters. They do look great, but they don't measure peak power.

    Been running this for few yrs now,Its a lil stingy ..but a great meter none the less.Seems to be less stingy the closer you get to scale.

    • @ScottsRadios
      @ScottsRadios  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes the calibration is lacking. +/- 10% really isn't the best. It does work how it's intended based on its specification. I think the Ameritron meter I mentioned in the video is a more accurate meter from my experience.

    Why does anybody need a 3kW meter?
