I've been riding around a ZX-14R for the past couple of weeks, and almost everytime i look down at the speedo on the highway I'm accidentally doing 100-110. And on main roads easily 60-70. It is not easy to keep bikes of this caliber at normal road speeds.
My first bike when I was 17 an 89 gsxr 1100 it was in good condition for its age. Maintaining the carbs and tinkering on it really allowed me to gain vital mechanical understanding of these machines before I bought my r1m back in 2020. It was a huge shock to experience the throttle response very unforgiving to beginners 😂 my gsxr allowed me to observe results of critical mistakes without dropping it.. things like gaining rpm’s as you lean, not matching revs correctly when down shifting or griping the throttle too tight when leaning 😅.
The most sci-fi looking motorcycle on the planet. Especially the spec you got. No red, no blue, no flashy yellow/green . Just the raw color of carbon and aluminum. The wires coming out of the suspension makes it even more robotic. Reminds of the anime called Cowboy Bebop 👽

Just ordered the V2 Bayliss 2 days before you bought the R1M. Was struggling to choose between the new R1M and V2 Bayliss. You said you prefer the V2 over the R1, which was a major reason for me to eventually choose the V2 Bayliss. My wife wanted me to buy the R1M, and I literally ignored her suggestion. Now you got the R1M. Thank you very much 😤😤😤
@@NikilaMoo thanks. I still feel V2 power delivery suits my need. I’d love to rev the bike hard, and there is no chance for me to legally redline an R1M on road. I won’t have much time going to track. Maybe I will get an R1M few years later as my 3rd bike:)
They should have made a R6M. I know Chaseontwowheels just made one but R1 is just for flexing. The R6 is still rediculous for the road but i think its proper rediculous.
The Valentino outro was hilarious and well executed. Annnd I also have a cycletrader tab open now, staring at a 2020 Yamaha R1M that's dying to be parked next to my CBR1000RR. Then I'd have to go out in the garage late at night and tell Marcy Marc and Valentino to stop yapping at each other. It'd be wonderful.
Nothing like a liter bike to get me all hot and bothered. Purchased the wife a 24 zx6r but in the next year or so I may look for one of these. Love ya Yammie good review brother

Annnnnnnd then I turned around and saw what was in its place. 😂 I’ve gotta say- I’m 54 yrs of age have been ridding sports bikes since I was 18- I’ve had em all…. The R1 is hands down my favourite bike of them all.
It’s a VERY good looking bike. It’s worth the extra dollars over the regular R1 to me. If only it wasn’t such a torture rack compared to some other options.
Yammie, I have a '23 XSR900 that apparently came with organic pads. Word is replace the front pads for huge improvement. Only $70 for all 4 front pads: EBC FA380 HH Sintered Ceramic pads. On the way, thru Amazon. Why would Yamaha put crap pads in a great bike? Hard to believe, but maybe they did the same with the R1M? Comment?
If you look for a track only bike, just buy a r1 and spend some money on it to make it right. Putting a r1m on the track only is a waste of money. This bike is done for road use. The owner will get a truly special bike that he won’t be using at more than 50%. But is it such a problem if you really enjoy the bike anyway ?
I have been dailying a FZ1S for the past year, love the thing, I'm curious to see how different it is compared to a R1 riding wise, besides the power difference, the FZ1 have 150 HP.
The 2020 redesign does look a lot better. I wasn’t something I ever noticed until I saw them side by side. It’s definitely nothing deal ending. But it does look better. I wish they’d give an update on when the next generation is coming out. It’s pretty old at this point. I don’t ride sport bikes so it’s not like I want the update so I can buy one. I want the update so it’s parts trickle down more into the MT-09 and 07 because as of right now the newest update to the MT-09 has newer features than the current R1 and it feels backwards and dirty.
I still like the 2016 and the 2017 models personally. Has that straight aggressive driving lights and a lot of that brushed aluminum look. They look like bombers to me
LOL No bikes is even close to V4 R, in 2019 when Alvaro Bautista took fully unrestricted bike in Philip Island, he gapped the whole field by 20 seconds. V4R is too powerful and dominating to be compared with Japanese bikes.

First gen FZ1? Mine is a 2002 and is still going strong with about 70k miles. Perfect bike for the streets.

The only thing that bike has in common with a WSBK is the frame and engine cases. Everything else is a custom race part on a WSBK.
