    Excellent video. That Ducati was amazing and I thought it couldn't be topped, but the last few were incredible. Some of them reminded me of being a kid with a 4-stroke dirt bike. I was freakin crazy on that thing.

    You can't use does things on the highway because long freeway trips really suck with a 1-cylinder. A 2-cylinder is just better for the highway. Still, 1-cylinders are one of the best engines, especially the off-road and all roads ones. And those old (1-cylinders) two stroke engines are indestructible!

      Ilias Lamari well I did a 700km trip in one day with a single cylinder 120cc engine bike. I'm broke as hell but worth the trip. It's uncomfortable and a little underpowered, but to cruise at 80km/h-90km/h are just a breeze.

      yeah 2t blows up in your hand cuz it is NOT meant to be driven as a 4t. It requires a different ride style, shifting and clutch usage. Using 2ts for years now and never had an issue with them other than the fuel consuption...

    Maico 700 cc 2 stroke not on there

    • @petergriffin4629
      @petergriffin4629 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Why does everybody bicker about the Maico 700.
      The enginge was a concept for sidecars,
      it's basically a traktor engine. ordinary 500 cross grand prix bikes have had more horsepower and torque than the maico 700.
      Also no it's not at all hard to ride. That's why people use it,
      the bigger a two stroke engine gets, the smaller it's peaky characterstics get.
      It's the dumbest legend on the entire internet!

    • @petergriffin4629
      @petergriffin4629 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Siward Beorn I am not sure what I am supposed to answer. As I said, the 700 engine is nothing special and any grand Prix 500 has more horsepower and torque and is definitely harder to ride.
      That Maico engine has become an internet legend but that's utter nonsense!

    • @petergriffin4629
      @petergriffin4629 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This time your statements are simply wrong, the Maico 700 wasn't a game changer, it wasn't even a success! I am absolutely confused, you write so much nonsense!
      First of all, I do know the story of Maico pretty well, as my grandpa and my godfather were pros and rode for Maico. My grandad was european champion on a maico.
      I don't quite get wether you put the turning point on Maicos in general or on the maico 700,
      one could be called true all though you are wildly exaggerating their impact, but the 700 was never raced in any solo category as there simply wasn't a class one could race them in.
      Sidecars, which it was designed for, used big V2s at that time and though the 700 has a good weight to power ratio, it was still no comparison to the big V Twins like the Hedlund engines.
      And last, no it doesn't deserve a spot on this list for its sound. As I wrote before, any 500 grand prix bike sounds much better, as they have much higher compression, thus higher gas velocities etc.

    I think the Suzuki LS-650 Boulevard deserves a spot on this list. It's a 650cc one lunger, with belt drive, and an amazing sound. I used to have a blue one that turned purple in the sunlight (back then it was called the LS-650 Savage), with drag style handlebars, and I absolutely loved it. I'd post a pic of it if I could.

    The mt-03 is basically an yamaha xt engine. I wouldn't say it's an amazing sounding bike, I don't like the seating position, it's pretty upright but it's a fun engine. For s first bike it's easy to ride because the seating position is somewhat similar to a scooter but the engine can be overwelming because it's not linear

    • @Tomatnaufmaugn
      @Tomatnaufmaugn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the nice thing about the seating position in combination with the very comfortable seat is that you can sit on there and ride for a very long time. i did almost 1000km in one day on mine and the short wheel base and high low end torque mean you can have tons of fun on a twisty road.

    • @Michele-ue5eu
      @Michele-ue5eu 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Ryder neither the yamaha mt03 or the xt are in line two, the second gen yamaha mt03 may be an in line two but i am not sure

    • @Michele-ue5eu
      @Michele-ue5eu 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tomatnaufmaugn the one I used had an unconfortable seat, very stiff and the seat got quite hot from the exhaust after a while but maybe the owner swapped it for some reason. Yeah of course, if you are going for long distance travel the seating position is perfetct, I didn't try to do so but the owner of the mt03 i tried say it's even capable in light off road if that's true it has the benefits of an adventure bike and a sport bike

    • @Tomatnaufmaugn
      @Tomatnaufmaugn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      One used to see quite a few of them in the UK in the '60s, but hardly ever without a sidecar. The typical owner was middle-aged, married (hence the sidecar), and swathed in an enormous Barbour coat, plus cork-lined 'pudding-basin' helmet. Testers often described the engine sound as "a bang at every lamp-post", because of its low-revving thump.

      Agung Bagus He is talking about the old one with the engine of the XT660. The new version is now a 300 ccm inline-2, yeah that’s right but we‘re talking about the other version.

    into a list with the best sounding single two stroke for sure you must have old two stroke vespa engines. even if they run very quiet the sound at minimum idle or the "melody" of a tuned escape with the clutch bell hiss while you going , it's one of the best sounding engines , in my opinion. of course , as a owner of two vespas. I love two stroke engines , almost 70% of them sounds at least a bit nice for me. for 4 stroke , i prefer the very old ones , like the phanter m100 one. what a minimum idle! And the sound of the valve rods...so rare

    Pleasantly surprised that you mentioned the Panther. But, disappointed you did not mention the Ducati 250 or 450 desmo of the sixties and early seventies. Nor, the Yamaha SR 500 or SRX 600. And, what about the Suzuki DR 750?

    • @megatycon
      @megatycon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick Lang Husqvarna makes some good bikes, and is certainly worth buying. But before you buy one you have to consider some things: Dont start with a high CC bike, especially not a 2-stroke. These bikes WILL be too much for an unexperienced rider. Even their 2-stoke 125's can be pretty violent, you'll have to be careful with the throttle. Their 4-stroke 125 should be ok, haven't tried one, but they seem to work well.
