    In this video i go through all the necessary steps to screen print a t shirt at home easily and quickly. I use PhotoEZ screen printing sheets available at the link above. All the supplies I use are available in the Kits sold at their website.
    I have used this method to start my own business, putting custom designs on products to sell online on Ebay and Etsy. It is a very easy way to make money online.

    I did a couple screen prints in art class in high school. For those of you questioning Nate,YES,what he is doing is RIGHT and will work 100% and YES people,you can wash the shirt. I mean..WHY would you do something to a shirt you want to wear only to NOT be able to wash it? Good simple video for a very barebones method of screen printing.

    the question that's important to me is, how long does the design last after washed and dried multiple times. treating it as if its a store bought shirt?

    • @paulinabastos4206
      @paulinabastos4206 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if you use specific ink for screen printing on fabric it lasts just like a store bought tshirt since it's not waterbased.

    • @mkidd655

      I thought he used waterbased?

    • @jonnyrox116

      Maile Navarro water based inks wash out, no matter how you heat set them, and regular screenprint ink , plastisol, is not water soluble .

    This is super cool. I am considering doing this because the freezer paper method i use is INCREDIBLY messy and doesn't look as professional as I would like (although I have several shirts that came out REALLY NICE). Though i won't buy the kit, (I'm into making things on my own) I will for sure use this method. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO.

  • @NateScreenPrints1

    This method uses photo emulsion sheets. They are not technically stencils, they are scree printing screen so they are alot better than a standard stencil. The emulsion is light sensitive, once you expose it to light it is no longer water soluble, so the part your transparency is covering remains water soluble and comes out when you soak it. This method is alot faster and gives much better results than stencils.
    Thanks!

    not bad for 1 color designs. you can also add colors through airbrush if one pleases. one can also just buy some screens and emulsion and do the same. without a press. you can expose it through a light or sun and can wash it out at a car wash or attach a nozzle to add pressure to the hose.

      @Seemsayin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wuaff Trust me if your planning to pursue this market and plan on selling to ANYONE, your going to need
      professional equipment & actually know what you're doing.
      Taping a stencil to a shirt and dumping ink on it is a disaster waiting to happen. If you're lucky enough to
      remove the stencil without smudging your print or spilling/dripping ink while putting it back into the container,
      try reapplying the already-inked stencil on another shirt, and not have it smudge.
      You also better make sure that your ink doesn't get underneath the tape, just in case you're not good with
      the taping process. And don't lay the screen back down if you didn't get good ink coverage. The chances that
      the screen will rest in its previous position are about a million to one.
      Multiple colors? Multiple screens. Good luck aligning them.
      Considering how long it takes to make 1 shirt, as well as the cost of the material, I would consider this a
      losing venture. Great for fun & learning, but nothing else.
      Unless he's got nothing better to do, how can this guy possibly make a ton of extra cash with a process like this?
      Is he charging $30 per shirt?

    • @MrFcruz04
      @MrFcruz04 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on your design mister, if the design is good then your good. also that's why you tell people how to wash the shirt so the design is not lost on a first wash

    • @Seemsayin
      @Seemsayin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      francisco cruz You don't have to call me, "Mister". We're pretty informal around here.
      I print t-shirts commercially. If we had to wash t-shirts before printing them, we'd be out of business.
      The only way ink will wash out of a shirt is if the ink is not cured. Washing the shirt prior to printing
      is a waste of time & laundry detergent.

    • @MrFcruz04
      @MrFcruz04 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      look at you tag in any shirt and see if it makes sense to you know, there is a lot of people who what their clothes before they wear them. you should be able to since your work and tumble dry it... every company washed their clothes before selling it to you, that you don't know is your own business.

    OMG, Are you kidding me?
    This is how not to print tee shirts.
    I would have printed over 1,000,000 shirts in a factory in my life and now I do print on demand with my own business. I would never do a start up business with this type of printing.
    Buy a carousel in the first place. Sure it costs money. Buy good squeegees. They cost money also. You have to pay money to start up a business.
    Don't rely on just a hair dryer. A hair dryer won't reliably cure your ink (or paint as he says). Anyone that says that ink is paint isn't a printer. To start up in printer you will need at least a paint dryer (for drying in winter (at home)) and then for curing the inks you will need a heat press in winter.
    You will need a heat press at all times when starting up as a printer or a start up business or small time printer. I used an old Singer heat press when I worked for a motorcycle shop so you can use these for medium productions also. You don't need a $20,000 machine that uses 15 Amps and as lot of foot space to do it though.
    I have a couple of different heat presses, some for shorts or mugs, plates or whatever but I only turn on one at a time. Simple small business. Start small and build up. Just use your head. :)

    For what it's worth, there are many fulfillment centers in the US and around the world where you can have T-shirts printed for only a few bucks each and then sell them for double triple or more for each one and still make decent money or you can do as many companies do and sell the shirts for cost or a small mark up and make your money from shipping and handling.

    three or so questions, though i like your kit and will be getting one myselft, but i would like more info for three areas of concern i have:
    1. can you not mount the screen print to a wooden frame? would this complicate any aspect of it? such as removing excess ink, or perhaps washing it off at the end.
    2. if you let the shirt air dry and then let it really dry in sunlight, can you come back at a later time (maybe days later) and still do the bake in process? would like more info on the bake in process in general...hot hot, how long, and mainly how long after drying can you wait.
    3. how quick does ink dry to the stencil? how many shirts can you do before you need to go wash it off so you don't end up ruining them?
    and also, any idea on a black box for the 30 minute soak....i live in an RV....i don't have any blackout area's except for at night.
    lastly, i can not find the magnetic exposure board you have on EZscreen's website, where did you get that gem?
    also thanks for the promo code, hopefully it help you out too :)

    • @NateScreenPrints1
      @NateScreenPrints1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BrazBlue 1. You can. They dont come attached to a screen so you have the option. I find it handy that they are like a piece of paper tho because i have screen printed things that are not flat, like glasses, and I had to wrap the screen around it. This would not be possible with traditional wooden framed screens.
      2. Yes. you can heat set the design days later. you just want to make sure you do it before washing, as it sort of melts the ink into the shirt and makes it permanate. It only takes a couple minutes with the iron, set on Medium High. The same you would use for removing wrinkles. You can even just throw it in the dryer on permanite press for a cycle and that heat sets it.
      3. That depends on the brand of ink. With speedball, it doesnt dry right away, but i can start it get clumpy. I think i screen printed up to 4 or 5 before the ink was clogging the screen and the prints were not coming out right.

      thanks for the info. i found anti-UV black spray paint. i'm going to spray paint a box to make it a makeshift black room for soaking without exposure.
      just one more thing....where did you get the fancy exposure board? it looks alot nicer then using those metal clips on other designs.

    Awesome ! Was wondering, where can I learn to do this on tin metal? example I wanted to learn how to make signs.....like beware of dog, no parking or others signs.Also wanted to learn how to learn to put on plastic. The signs length I am looking at, is like the ones that, you can place on your window or gate, not bigger than 8x10 ..Your feedback is greatly appreciated...JB

    Thank you for making this video. I have a suggestion for applying the ink bead. Would a ketchup squeezer bottle work for applying the ink, and then just recap it for storage?

    Does the emulsion sheet need to be attached to a silk screen or is it already incorporated in the sheet? thanks!

    Great Video thanks for sharing! Got one question, the emulsion paper; you lay your image over this, light hits the the E paper, you set it in water in the dark (30 min) and then tiny particles (emulsion) will come away from where the image was, which allows the ink to get through?

    Hey nate,
    I am screenprtinter myself with the luxury of having a table top press. aside from that i have been doing basic 2-3 color print but i was wonder how do you make such a detailed design? do you draw an image and then go back and trace it using your acetate(transparency sheet)? or do you use photo shop? or whatever you do please get back to me i would really like to do more of these and expand my artist boundries. thank you!

  • @jkaf8
    @jkaf8 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes you would need to make a separate stencil for each color you will be using.

    Which kit from the website did you buy/use to do this video

    • @NateScreenPrints1
      @NateScreenPrints1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Brandon Santiago I used the complete starter kit. I highly recommend them as they come with alot of colors so you can be very creative. However if you just want to see whats its like you can go with the basic kits. It just comes with black ink and comes with less screens but it still has has everything you need to screen print a shirt.

    Love your video. Easy to follow and not messy. I want to try my hands on screen printing. Where can I get the plastic netting and photo emulsion sheet (never heard of this 2 items before). Can any glass be used for the exposure or must it be a special glass?

  • @NateScreenPrints1

    From the Dover Clip art collections, from Designious (google search it), or just from around the internet in general.
