  • The best waterfall in Binna Burra, Coomera Falls is absolutely my local favourite and a must if you haven't yet gone down to the bottom.

    The ranger's not too happy about people using it lately in particular because my friend and I did a bivouac on it. Although he was more unhappy that we'd done Illinbah Circuit earlier that day, which is closed, and was why we got caught at nightfall on Mystery Track.

      Oh did you guys camp overnight? Or got lost? Another pair did the same when they ran out of time. How what the ranger say 😂 when you guys got caught? And what are the odds of that? Was he on the mystery track when he busted you guys?

      They regularly go down that track and take off all ribbons as well.. I guess they are trying to allow the area to regrow or something. Main reason why I didn't want to cover much of the track.

      @@tofuhiker Was 2 months ago. Didn't camp, slept in a ditch. Got lost due to nightfall. Concerned partner called police, the ranger was waiting for us in the parking lot when we got back at 7am. He said they don't like people using the trail for this exact reason and that a person has died on it.

      @@jameshohl6066 oh that sucks... Why didn't you rock hop back out the same way you came in? I've done both routes, if I was losing daylight I would stick to the creek it's much safer. Glad you made it out safe ☺️...

      @@tofuhiker first time on the Mystery Track, thought it'd be easier! We were fine in the end though 😅

      haha yes life skill you will need Ben.. this would be great for harder trek in the future where we become lazy and just want to take short cut down the side of the cliff lol.

    Yoooo, that improvised harness is sweet! I am going to have to test it out!

      @@cravingkarst you should of man... half the shit that was said on the hike didn't make the final edit hahaha.. Yes that improvised harness is very secure, it also can be a chest harness if you need to ascend, as you can see I had the 6mm cord attached to be used as a friction hitch. I was watching people use it in a pinch to recuse injured hikers. =).

      @@tofuhiker Yeah the munter hitch is great, have had to use it for self rescue once... What 6mm line did you use? Might get one for my own bushwalks

      @@cravingkarst lol Bunnings rope 😆😆😆, it's rated to 7kn which is enough for any friction hitch. It's a budget improvised harness setup hahaha 🤣🤣🤣

    Do you mean the Brisbane Bushwalking Club? I checked their calendar of past events in the last two months, and while there were several easy Coomera Circuit events, there was no Coomera Falls or Mystery Track events held. If there were members of BBW on that track, it was not in an official club sanctioned walk. They are definitely against use of the Mystery Track.

    • @tofuhiker
      @tofuhiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it was BBW group, I don't know if it was sanctioned or not but the person who made the post stated it was a BBW organized hike even shared photos of them using webbing to get down the steep sections.
