    Excellent video!
    A tip for whoever changes their friction plates at home.
    ONLY the last friction plate goes into the small teeth of the clutch hub.
    When changing mine I assembled the clutch the same way in this video and it caused the clutch to lag and drag.
    I've fixed it the way I mentioned above and everything goes smooth now :)
    *all plates mentioned are stock plates *

      @RevelryCycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that's a "blooper". Only the single outer most drive (friction) plate in the stock clutch is installed in the short spline, offset from the long splines, in the clutch SHELL (not the hub).

    Love this stuff. One of the reasons I bought a Royal Enfield was the availability of S&S parts and the relative simplicity of the bike. I appreciate your tutelage. I’m a street rider so I’m planning on a camshaft and high compression pistons. I’ll stick with the stock clutch until it poses a problem or I get bored and feel like an upgrade. Thanks for the great videos!

    So, I've kind of got this series a little bit out of order for one reason or another, the visuals of the differing clutch packs and mechs/springs are so informative, even to someone who's 'been around the block' mor than a few times and understands carburettors and also knows what a choke is for! Keep up the good work and keep those 'vids' coming.
    Perhaps in the future you could include some custom bike and/or motor builds and show the dyno charts with different options of how the 'mix and match', can/will alter the engines characteristics, horsepower and torque etc?

    Excellent series. Really digging it. I personally live in the "hill country" of Central Texas, within riding range of Circuit of the Americas. Weekends are twisty road work or track days, and I'd like to do them on a Continental GT. In my case, brakes and suspension are a bigger deal than raw power. Could you do a series on suspension tuning and brake performance for track people or knee-draggers? If that is outside of your comfort zone, is there a particular source, channel or shop you'd recommend I check out for the RE 650 crowd?

I have built a 850 interceptor with 89mm piston and the bike runs beautifully! As a next project I am planning to increase the load on the clutch by installing a washer(s) to the springs. Please let me know if this would work and make a difference or is there any other way I can increase clutch spring load?!? Thanks in anticipation!

    Thank you so much for all of the time you guys spend informing us about Royal Enfield's. I have a new 2021 Continental GT 650(less than 300 miles). I have not been happy with the clutch at all. The clutch does not engage until the last little bit of movement from the lever. I have purchased the S&S clutch plate kit hoping for better clutch engagement. I have the stock motor with a K&N air filter and the S&S slip-ons without the decibel reducer inserted. I don't expect more torque I just hope the clutch performs better? Does the S&S clutch kit come with instructions? Thanks again for all you do!!!

    I have Rekluse clutch plates in my interceptor. The problem I am facing is am not able to neutral it from gear engaged while the bike is running and is in 1st or 2nd gear. This seems to like clutch dragging. I have run 1000 km after fitment and the oil used is 10w50. Can you help me with the diagnosis of the problem.

    • @MrJulianneave
      @MrJulianneave ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sanjay, I also find neutral harder to select now from first gear since I had the Rekluse clutch installed. I can normally get it easily from second gear though. Did you ever solve this problem? It's quite annoying because the gearbox used to be so easy to find neutral.

    I've been advised by another TH-cam channel chap, a very qualified and an Interceptor owner that putting all of the S&S parts on will ruin the bike for street purposes! I was really very much looking forward to getting the 865 big bore kit sorted along with other S&S gems. They said it would make the bike more 'Japanese'. The power will be higher up in the rev range and lose low down grunt. They advised an S&S cam and thats about it. Is the the case? I'd love to hear your opinion. Thank you.

    • @RevelryCycles
      @RevelryCycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one who has actually ridden one of our fully equipped 865cc motors would ever say the phrase "lose low down grunt" while describing the experience. That's just silly. The fact is, while you can alter lots of variables to tune the engine toward more low end torque or more high end power, no matter how you configure it the 865 ALWAYS makes much more torque absolutely everywhere in the rev range than the 650. The 865 engines are strong and reliable, they respond very well to higher gearing because they make so much more torque down low, they are smooth and quiet on the highway with HEAPS of high gear roll on passing power, and are simply a joy to ride. Oh and that's not my "opinion". That's an amalgomation of comments from actual owners of the 865.

      @@RevelryCycles Thank you for your prompt reply. I also thought the very same way, as I've watched your videos from the beginning of your TH-cam channel. I'll continue to follow your advice and build my goal. Thanks again for everything 🙏

    Gud info, Service centre in india replace clutch plates on my interceptor at 10k kms and I realise there is a big power loss in pickup on mountains. They r not able to find why this happen. They refuse for any power loss but as a owner I felt loss in power pulling on hills as compare to orignal clitch.
    Pls explain.
    Thanks

    Hi. I've seen you a lot at drag strip and also saw a lot of RE riders participated in drag race which is really great to see. I'm looking to buy the twin 650 and one of my concern is the wheels are in 18" which is quite limited the tyres option. My question is , is it able to do the wheel conversion in to 17" size ? And what's the trade off ?
    Thanks.

    • @RevelryCycles
      @RevelryCycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not an easy swap to a 17" and would be expensive. Since the 650's are selling well hopefully tyre companies will take note and make more options.

    I'm still finding neutral more difficult to select from first than with the standard clutch, even after about 8,000km with it. If I trial removing nearly all the clutch lever free play to get maximum disengagement it's still hard. I suspect this is due to more clutch drag, is this normal and unavoidable for the Rekluse clutch? Thanks guys

    Hi guys love the videos i learnt a lot.
    I have a question I hope to get a reply as I am now fitting this upgraded clutch. The last 2 clutch friction plates you fit in the short gaps in the basket are the friction plates not supposed to go in the same gaps as the other plates as they would be running on the steel shims that were fitted? It makes sense to put them where the originals ran but there's no extra fitted steel shims on the other outer fingers.

    • @davidrawlings3460
      @davidrawlings3460 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Please reply as I have heard some say finding neutral can be harder? And wondered if it's because they didn't used the smaller gaps on the basket.

      From the video description:
      NOTE: There is an error at 9:08. When installing the STOCK CLUTCH, only the last drive plate goes in the short spline. NOT THE LAST TWO.
      NOTE: The REKLUSE clutch is installed with ALL drive plates in the long splines. NONE go in the short spline.

    Question: I have a more or less stock Interceptor, added a 2>1 exhaust and a Aftermarket air filter with a venturi intake. ( also lowered the gearing) Coming from a Street Twin on which I never experienced anything suggesting clutch slip, on the Enfield I get the sensation at times that I'm not applying full power and torque to the rear wheel. Since you have a lot of experience with the Enfields, do you have any comments on this or relatable experience? A new clutch install is relatively straight forward so it something easy enough to do if its needed. And yes I know how to adjust the clutch.

    • @RevelryCycles
      @RevelryCycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We haven't seen a clutch failure on a stock 650 yet. The 865 however, will over run the stock clutch almost immediately when you begin to dial it up.

    Just fitted the Hitchcocks performance clutch which I believe is the same. I haven't actually put any miles on it, just turned it around on my street. First gear seems a little tricky to find, will this improve once given a good run? Or have I done something wrong?

      @RevelryCycles it works,just getting first gear seemed a little harder than i am used too. Are they oil type sensitive? I have used semi synthetic as a posed to fully synthetic this oil change.

    • @davidrawlings3460
      @davidrawlings3460 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well a couple of hundred miles in now on the rekluse clutch and although I have no clutch slippage at all, I am still having issues getting an nice easy neutral engagement, it's definitely heavier on the clutch lever too not alot but definitely heavier.
      I don't understand why it's a struggle now to get neutral was fine on the standard clutch.
