In the original film, the name on Drayton's gas station was "W. E. Slaughter". Obviously a joke but the name stuck. It became Sawyer (chain-SAWyer) but in the awesome fun stoned film TCM: Next Generation they are once again the Slaughters and even has a cool funny character named W.E. (who was said to have been the real Leatherface that got the death penalty in the opening narration of part 3). I think they changed the name just to distance itself from the original and it's sequels. I prefer the original films but I definitely LOVED this remake and it's prequel even more.
I fucking adore this film. So good to hear you mention Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. I'm surprised you remembered her from that. This film is a huge fucking part of my childhood! Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favourite band! Great review man!!!
DUDE 100% agree with you on "torture porn". And I'm so glad you mention Hostel cause I think its one of the smartest horror films of our times. I touch on this on my Hostel one review, which Im going to remake very soon.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 yeah if a movie is too violent for you thats fine(personally thats never happened with me I'm a gore hound) but don't talk shit and label it with a derogatory label. It's a horror movie, as long as it serves the story show as much violence/blood as you can. Thats a Big reason why I spend money on horror films. I Love make up EFX I studied it as a kid.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 I know this is old, but this TCM remake is my favorite along with The Hills Have Eyes (2006). How do you feel about that one, and what about the Wolfman (2009-Bencio Del Toro) version? Im picky, but those I do own. Thanks, and love the channel 👍👍. Oh, BTW Jessica Biel's skin tight jeans with the cowboy boots.... OMG! Hahaha, that's all.
Better than the FTT remake and the ANOES remake and even the Halloween remake which I enjoy a lot. The Hitcher, Evil Dead, Last House On The Left remakes are also very good and even surpass the originals in my eyes.
For me...Thomas as a name is creppier than Bubba knowing how leatherface looks, bubba will be too comedic for this leatherface who is a monster basically
I have that chainsaw DVD. Wish I took care of it I don't have the slip cover or photos anymore. I do still have the metal cover that came with it! They should release all the movies in a similar case.
This is my favorite TCM. R. Lee Ermey steals the show. He is so intense in this movie. Don't get me wrong the original is great. But I just love this remake.
This is my favourite TCM movie. Love the vibe of the original, but i prefer the familiy, the characters and the potrayal of Leatherface in the remake. Certrainly the best remake of the 2000's.
Great review, agree with u this has to be the best modern remake for me (all time best remake ever has to be the thing if that counts). And you’re so right about the sawyer/ Hewitt name change.
Loved this movie and book of shadows! But in the Evil dead remake didn’t they change all the characters names in that one too well and the story somewhat
@SinisterCinemaReviews as far as horror remakes go this one may actually be my second favorite right next to the newest adaptation of Stephen King’s classic story IT. I know most people don’t consider that to qualify as a remake and normally I wouldn’t consider that a remake I’d just consider it to be a new adaptation of King’s novel however, for this particular instance I’m too wiped out and tired from hardly sleeping at all for one reason or another that I’m too lazy to specify all that needless additional crap of putting the IT remake in this case in the new adaptation category I would put it in. I didn’t find Leathetface’s presence in this to be all that creepy since, I don’t get terrified by horror movies much, there’s actually only one that affected me fairly recently and that was The Seventh Day which to me right next to The Conjuring movies since, I grew up a Christian as well as you’ve said it before us here in the US live in a Christian Nation even if they have drawn apart from there roots much like I have there’s still a part of that in people who grew up in a Christian household like I did. Therefore, the Exorcism movie trope is easily the trope in horror movies that I’d done effectively tends to get under my skin much like The Seventh Day did, anything where the victim being exorcised is a possessed little kid with a creepy as fuck demon’s voice coming from a little kids body is extremely effective to me so, obviously the opening and finale both of The Seventh Day obviously affected and deeply disturbed me growing up in a Christian household myself. However, why I think this movie works as a solid remake and one of the better horror remakes of classic slasher movies I’ve seen is because, yes Leatherface is extremely intimidating however, where I feel the real intimidation and sheer tension comes from is the sheer spurts of brutal violence along with increasingly more vulgar shouting that R. Lee Ermey typically does in other movies as well and the only movie I’ve ever seen him in that actually subverts the character type I’m used to R. Lee Ermey playing as is the detective thriller Seven with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman where he plays the good hearted and calm headed head of police in the town for once instead of the asshole town sheriff of this backwoods town.
Someone may have already mentioned this, but the dude that plays Leatherface (besides being in The Program) is also in Higher Learning. The hulking white supremacist.
Yea bro I totally agree...great remake...but did you know the director had plans of killing the kid right after he bit leatherfaces hand when he helped Aaron and Morgan get away....he was gona kill the poor little dude with his chain saw but the director thought that was a bit toooo much sawing a little kid lol...happy they left that out.... lol
Great remake. Fantastic movie. Definately 1 of the best remakes if not the best of the 2000's. Theres been a few other good 1's tho, just i really like this 1.
This flick was for sure one of my all time favorite theatre experiences, next to the Blair Witch Project and seeing a midnight showing of Eraserhead and Blue Velvet back to back. And while I do agree on your opinion of the torture porn label, watch August Underground: Mordum if you want something that can be given that categorization pretty legitimately. That series is way too fucking much, zero fun.
Whilst the original is and always will be my favourite I did like this one a lot, it takes enough initiative to tweak some factors so it doesn't feel a straight shot for shot remake and I loved the sheer pacing of this plus I thought the cast were pretty charming (by that I mean hot!) and Ermey is fantastic as usual. Fun, fun film 😊
Awesome! Someone else who likes Blair Witch 2. I actually found the events in 2 scarier than in 1. This remake was amazing and I will always prefer Erin over Sally; Erin cut that fu--ers hand off! Its funny that the original TCM started the original slasher flick movies and this one started the slasher flick remakes.
I respect the original and I’m sure at that time it was terrifying. I’ve just never found it scary even as a kid. If I’m in the mood to watch a tcm movie this is the one I’m throwing in
I like the original 2nd best and then 2003 version second for the longest 2003 version was my favorite and was actually my intro into the series never been super crazy about the first one I like it idk just starting with the 2003 the original seems toned down to me
all time favorire remake, its always had a special place, and for referrence, Gunny Emery is a US Marine, he has no choice but to be his jarhead way.... fyi , he improved his role in FMJ because real is better baby
As a hardcore saw fan that stupid torture por. n phrase gets tossed around a lot. Super annoying, cuz there are a ton of saw haters I’ve noticed on TH-cam and every time someone says oh saw is just torture por. n I just say yeah so is every horror movie. I left a comment asking you if it was but I dont think you seen it.

Cinema Junkies ugh. I hate that label. It’s a thoughtless argument towards something they don’t like.

It’s a cool set
I love your reviews! Have you ever seen the Cabin by the Lake movies? Very off topic but I’d love to see you review those
I have that chainsaw DVD. Wish I took care of it I don't have the slip cover or photos anymore.

1:37 Idle Hands reference!!!! Love that movie so much! I love the cameo by The Offspring (my favorite band)

Crazynut56 ❤️❤️❤️
For sure one of the best horror remakes, probably somewhere in the top 5 for me

The Hills Have Eyes remake was really good 😊
Brian Skeggs absolutely! Love that one
Awesome one of the few remakes that was done right...
Brian Skeggs excellent remake
I wanna throw Scream 4 in the ring for one of the best horror remakes...Can’t wait to see your Leatherface review

I so agree with you on Jessica Biel's outfit. It was very distracting while watching the film. This movie is definitely one of best remakes.
Jessica biel in summer catch swimming pool scene OMG
punkman30 haven’t seen it! 😱
Sinister Cinema Reviews it’s on TH-cam here like a 30 second clip definitely worth the search 👍
Hell yes!
Someone may have already mentioned this, but the dude that plays Leatherface (besides being in The Program) is also in Higher Learning. The hulking white supremacist.
Yeah, I remember that dude. An absolute monster
I have the dvd case but unfortunately my kids misplaced all the pics 😔
Boo
I LOVE this one ALOT!! I have the same DVD as you..it rocks!!

Watched it recently for the first time. It blew my expectations out of the water. I actually prefer it over the original.

Sinister Cinema Reviews little fuker was a hewitt...probably better to cut the seed off ...
I really did like this remake, I have in my vhs collection but it's been a minute since I've watched the 2003 version.
Trista Hemphill get on it!
Great remake. Fantastic movie. Definately 1 of the best remakes if not the best of the 2000's. Theres been a few other good 1's tho, just i really like this 1.
Great remake and movie in general. The prequel is great also the 2 just go together so well
One of the best remakes ever made, this movie is fantastic and Jessica biel is fire in this

Never???

I can't believe that out of the times I have seen this movie I never put two and two together that the gun she shot herself with was the cops gun.
Bruce Willis played a very different character in The Jackal😁
Lmfao everything you said about "torture porn", cant agree more!! Its an phrase I find just plain ridiculous.

Fun fact : the girl that committed suicide is the main character from hostel 2

Derek Fleming oh, that’s from Idle Hands
Sinister Cinema Reviews oh ok, but do you own a summer school shirt or was I mistaken about that too?
Derek Fleming I do. I also started my TCM 74 Review with summer school Footage.
I said Idle Hands before you even said name that movie,
I think house of wax was a pretty good remake from 2004.
I really liked it
Hell yes and Elisha shit I can’t remember how to spell her name is so beautiful
don't even start, that is one of the only horror movies where i wanted the killers to survive or at least vincent if not both,bo was awesome as hell but Vincent was pure badass
I really liked texas chainsaw the beginning...... that was great, much better then ANOTHER MOVIE WHERE 6 KIDS DRIVE AROUND, PICK UP THE WEIRD FUCK, THEN PROCEDE TO BE........not as stupid as the hippies in the original but THE BEGINING WITH HOW LEATHER FACE CAME TO BE WAS PRETTY GOOD.....PLUS THE MOVIE WAS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS RE-MAKE, BY FAR!!!
idle hands lol awesome
His name was weird. Kemper
Kirsten Baker(terry) from F13th part 2 has a better outfit. Jean shorts and t-shirt. Other than that....
Isn't the face skin based off a serial killer?
mr finch yep Ed Gein...
Yep Buffalo Bill and i think Hannibal Lecter too and Norman Bates were also inspired by Ed Gein i believe
*Jessica Biel was in The Tall Man!!!!*
scariest leatherface imo
Who the fuck keeps putting hands down!! I’m going to find you!!!!
