Had the exact sled. Bought at Bow Valley motor sports. Never even pulled the rope and dropped it off at Racers Edge and let Mr. Baker do his thing. First motor was ported and modded by a buddy of mine and it worked great until it blew up, got to go for a helicopter ride:) Had Ralph build the second one and it was a screamer. They were about as good as it got for a light weight mountain sled at that period of time. Thanks for the video and the memories👍
This really brings me back! I hope one day I’ll come across a mountain magic S chassis tucked away in some farmers barn that can be brought back to life.
That was my first real mountain sled. And my middle name was STUCK 😂 The guy's I road with hated me 😂 Thanks for the video and the memories. Be blessed and be a blessing.
They were light, powerful and reliable! I have seen a 800 version from Ralph at Split Second....Heard a rumor the a 900ish one was floating out east ...Crankshop maybe??? Would be cool to see/ ride it in person.
@@CarlKusterMountainPark that’s insane an 800 or 900 rotory valve would be wild. You’d need some mega pipes and toilets for carbs to keep up with the fuel. I’d love to see one in person or ride one. Would be epic 🔥
@@CarlKusterMountainPark that’s awesome hope to see it all together. I have a rotary valve decker 440 we’ like to do a build with in the future. Gotta love the old iron
or.... passing out stage...haha .The old Fuji's in the Polaris had crankcase drains...I burnt my hands as a kid o n the pipes lots bahahahah! Character building moments!
We still have one of these in our fleet, it was my Moms. 97, 670 w/ 144x2" track, and simmons skis. I still ride it at least once a year, and have a blast on it!
Ouuu man that’s a beautiful machine. Got a formula ss 670 I’m in the works of converting into a reliable, fast way better handling machine lol. First thing was cfr bars, risers, grips (2 inch risers and another 1 inch rise with bars so 3 total), a set of slydog skis and a set of jaws twin pipes (already had twin 40mm carbs with pod filters instead of airbox.) next is a 136 inch skid from a 2007 summit and a track with 1.75 lug along with it. Still running strong so not worried about engine work yet. Looking at clutches from mcb right now tho! Things a lil ripper so far I can’t wait to get er built up and I can’t imagine what that 740 is like lol
@@CarlKusterMountainPark No no you have it right. Doo used the “cost effective” needle and seats. The upgrade was from Mikuni thru their distributors like TCI.
Could you go over your drop and roll, I want to put the jackshaft in the tunnel with my s chassis mod but confused with the trailing arm mount needing to be modified.

That’s a pretty good middle name! 😂
Those old rotary mills were nice I must say . Bulletproof .
Those big bore rotary valve rotax engine made big power. That 740 must rip. Really cool sled thanks for sharing

@@CarlKusterMountainPark Crankshop had a magnesium case rotary valve that came out at 990. Saw one of two burn to the ground 20 or so years ago.
They sound good too! there is a 806cc version that is floating around...we have some ideas for the chassis...would be a killer retro build!

We have it so much easier in todays age (maintenance wise)😁

Love the skidoo on the sled deck. Can't wait to get mine in!
Perfect for spring exploring!
Those hard mountain bars were killer lol
On the chest !!
9 out of 10 doctors recommend them for rib insurance claims LOL
Awesome video. Thanks for making it.
Glad you liked it!

Had a 98 670. Rolled chaincase, 141 track, lightweight hood, clutching, it was pretty bad ass in it's day.
It was fun and easy to make improvements on those old sleds!
The 670 made for a great starting point of so many mod sleds!
More of these videos please.
We are working on it!
I had the green hood. But dang, that's what I was building. In 2000. 😅.
But.. did it have an eagle on the side! LOL
Awesome sled. I have a 670 big bore by Ralph also in an old RXL mod sled.
Cool, Ralph is a legend! Is the RXL 1st gen or 2nd gen?
Viton needle and seats fixed the fuel leaking into the crankshaft issue.
hmmm... maybe I'm thinking of monster round slides, if you were pointing down hill... you'd better be fast on the fuel shut off! lol

claaaaaasic rotax power!!
You Bet!
U gotta bring it to the Mcbride Bung Bung November 23rd 2024 weekend!
Ohhh we might have a real treat for then!

Daryl Baker at Racer's Edge did the chassis work on this one, He would likely still have the templates in stock!
hahaha this is awesome! 🤟🤘

Nice sled
The colors were great on the snow!
