      @@EricksonMachinePerformance the ski came stock with a 38mm carb and I tried putting the 44 but it’s bigger, I’m wondering with a completely stock application if it’s better to just run the smaller size? I wish you were on the west coast! I appreciate all your info and videos are awesome

    Hey how are you. I have a problem I bought a sbn44 carb off Amazon BN44-40-8052
    And the base of the carb is much larger then my 550 base of intake manifold. Any suggestions of what I need?

    Subscribed, my brother just bought the adapter and new sbn44 for his stock js550. Would the jetting you show in the video be correct for us here in Washington state at about 800ft above sea level?
    Thank you!

    Hey, loving your videos on 2 stroke mods! I've got a 1236 lathe and rotary table on an rf30 mill, I heard you mention flywheel lightening as a great mod to do. Any chance you could do one on a js440? Thanks!

    I have a 86 Js440 Bn38 I rebuilt the Carb and still can't get it to suck fuel .. any suggestions on what I should test. If there is a better carb to slap on there or a guide to making sure everything is spec'ed properly?

  • @dshacke1
    @dshacke1 ปีที่แล้ว

    I"m in the process of doing this exact upgrade. Do you have a pic or video of connecting the fuel lines back up to the new carb? I noticed the new carb has 4 inlets instead of 5 like the old one. The extra from the old carb looks like the one that was opposite of the primer inlet. What do you do with the old tube that connected there on the old carb? Thanks!

  • @Tenortone
    @Tenortone 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everything I've read about 2-strokes is that they get most of their power by upgrading the pipe and carb together. I understand the tunability of SBN carbs over the BN, but without a pipe you're still going to be pretty restricted for power, no?

    • @EricksonMachinePerformance
      @EricksonMachinePerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is mostly true But the 550 pipe work better then stock pipes. Together they are and even better combo.

    also, popoff spring and pressure is possibly going to change when going from a stock flame arrestor to a more free-flowing aftermarket one.

    • @EricksonMachinePerformance
      @EricksonMachinePerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The popoff wont change because of the flame arrestor BUT with a restricted flame arrestor or free flowing 1 you could need to change popoff by changing needle and seat or spring or both.

  • @dpm6000

    Nice simple video. Does the SBN come with a primer hookup or is there a choke system to remove first? Are all the fuel lines the same direction or do you have to run new lines when you do the swap? Is the throttle throw the same or do you have to adjust your throttle cable as well?

    • @EricksonMachinePerformance
      @EricksonMachinePerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This 1 come with primer fittings. The lines are the same but in slightly different locations. And the throw is the same

  • @JetEnvy_TV
    @JetEnvy_TV 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here's a question for you. I have a customer that brought me all these parts to do the swap. The jets, needle and seat, and spring are spot on to what you have. My issue is after installing carb, the engine was flooding and not starting to the point that it was coming out of the pulse line. Did a pop off check and was popping right under 15psi. Have you seen this before?

    • @EricksonMachinePerformance
      @EricksonMachinePerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Problem with the fuel pump. Go thru the carb. And 15psi is a low popoff for a 550

      @@EricksonMachinePerformance ok Bro, thanks for the response, i figured it out and the sbn 44 will not work on the 440, it loads up with fuel, and ends up running like a dead chicken, the sbn 38 is what comes on it from the factory, so im gonna pick up one of them..

    I found it beneficial to silicone 10mm fastener threads, otherwise they vibrate loose.

    • @EricksonMachinePerformance
      @EricksonMachinePerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah i have found properly cleaning hardware and components before assembly, chasings all holes and having true gasket surfaces then torquing everything correctly is all that is needed. I put s dab of grease on the heads of the fasteners to help when torquing but that is it on these engines.

    • @travisstewart6996

      @@EricksonMachinePerformance I think some manual also recommend silicone on stator bolt threads. I just put it on all of them.
