How to fold your shirts like the US Navy

- Folding T-shirts is a common practice for several reasons:
Organization: Folding T-shirts neatly allows for better organization within drawers or closets. When T-shirts are folded uniformly, it's easier to see and access each shirt, making it simpler to find the one you want to wear without rummaging through a pile.
Space-saving: Folding T-shirts efficiently can save space in drawers or shelves. By folding them neatly and stacking them vertically, you can maximize the use of available storage space, especially in smaller living areas where space is limited.
Preventing wrinkles: Folding T-shirts properly helps prevent wrinkles. By folding along the seams and smoothing out any creases, you can minimize the risk of wrinkles forming while the shirts are stored. This ensures that your T-shirts remain presentable and ready to wear without needing to be ironed every time.
Preservation: Folding T-shirts instead of hanging them can help preserve their shape and elasticity. Hanging T-shirts for extended periods can cause stretching along the shoulders or misshaping due to gravity. Folding them allows the fabric to rest evenly without strain, prolonging the lifespan of the garment.
Travel: Folded T-shirts are convenient for travel. They can be easily packed into suitcases or bags without taking up too much space. Additionally, when properly folded, T-shirts are less likely to wrinkle during transit, keeping them looking fresh upon arrival at your destination.
Overall, folding T-shirts is a practical way to maintain organization, save space, preserve garment quality, and simplify wardrobe management both at home and while traveling.
That's a terrible way to fold a t-shirt. The goal should be a perfect collar, not one folded in half. Look to hi-end department stores for the proper way to fold clothing.
no way is better than the Navy way, and As for Department stores the way they fold their clothes only benefits sales, we've all done it, picked up a store folded shirt and what does it do? Becomes unfolded, a freaking mess in your hand, this is done for one to display the shirt and two make you have to screw with the shirt longer than you need. Both of these reasons push sales. The fold in the collar STEP 6 looks good upon opening, complementary when unfolded matter fact. Now for collared shirts we don't fold them like this but another way which is on my channel also.
He said the Navy folds them that way. He's right. My son is in the Navy and that is how he showed me how to fold his clothes.
Don't tell the enemy !
How can I tell which shirt has the right design? They all look the same.
Typical New Yorker. Think they know everything better than everyone else. But they live in NY City!!! How dumb is that?
My sister joined the navy in the late 90s. After I graduated from high school in 2000, I spent a few weeks visiting her. Folding my shirts, rolling my clothes for travel, and using military time. That is what I learned that summer from her. Skills I'm still using.
Tell your sister thanks for her service… hope you spend time/vacation with family…
Last step....folds the collar.
He sure did 🤣
the crease in the t-shirt STEP 6 looks good when unfolded, this is why we flip the shirt, that fold goes inward making the collar press against the neck, making for a better looking neck line. The Navy has thought of everything
Only thing dumber than the fold is trying to defend it
Jesus Christ saved my life he can save yours to. No body is perfect we all have sinned fallen short of the glory of God, except Jesus Christ. So he was the perfect sacrifice for the world and he became that sacrifice. So that we can be perfect in God’s eyes all we need to do is. Repent from our sinful wicked ways and surrender our life’s to him. Jesus Christ. Repent meaning acknowledge and forsake your sins. Know you have sinned and know you are not good in God’s eyes. (Until you accept his gift of salvation. You will be seen perfect in his eyes because Jesus Christ paid the price.)Forsake meaning do not sin. (You may stumble but just rely on the Lord he’s got you in Jesus name.) We have to be clean and filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said we must be born again of the spirit to enter The Kingdom of Heaven. (John 3:3) !
God bless you all. I love you all may you all find Jesus Christ as your Lord Savior .
God bless brothas and sisters ❤❤! Thank God ❤️
@@jrmartinez1354 WTF? You are hijacking a video about FOLDING T-SHIRTS to blather on and on and on about your imaginary, man-made, non-existent supernatural friend?
Please...go away.
Yeah, but you can’t see what’s on the front of it🤷♀️
Exactly my thoughts
I was thinking the same thing, I need to see if I'm feeling that shirt for the day.
exactly!
In the military you don’t have any printed shirt while in duty so their way works.
You could do all the folding with the printer side out?
When you are looking for a specific shirt with a logo on the front……. 🦗
Very nice! My dad taught me how to fold his clothes. Retired Navy Chief. He was in 1941-1961, before I was born.👍🏽🙏🏽😘RIP Daddy!
Learn something new everyday. Thank you. I have struggled folding t shirts all my life and now I know how at age 67. 😊
Me too. And same age.
Yes, been folding t shirts for 50 years and never thought of this.
I went to the library to search for a book on folding clothes and returned home crestfallen.
I wish it was that easy after the t- shirt has been washed and dried a few times without being ironed.😵💫
Me too 62 😅
Now show us how to do it with the design showing, so people know which shirt it is.
My thought exactly. How am I supposed to know which T-shirt it is🤷🏾♀️😂😂
I was looking for this cause I know I'm not the only one wondering. I'd be refolding tshirts all the time.😂
Turn the shirt face down
Well even if only folded their solid colors this way it's still cuts down on so much space and storage I love it! Turn on my t-shirts with the fun designs can hang in the closet and I'll be much more room!
This is a dumb fold. Just a veteran trying to show off a skill set thousands of servicemembers learn week after week, lmao.
This is NOTHING NEW. Lmao. Dude has a shiny Nicole, and everyone is losing their sh*t, lmao
I truly believe you’re the only man that actually does that I love it your wife must be ecstatic very organized. I love it.
No it’s just that he’s controlling, yet won’t do it himself.
Now do fitted sheets 😂
Navy doesn't use fitted sheets 😂
Trick question, no one has fitted sheets on shipboard.
Now do 45 degree hospital corners.
Yes! Fitted sheets, please. 😂
Day 2 R and O, San Diego Ca. 1979. Still fold my shirts and pants the Navy way after 44 years...!
I used to date a biker. I roll mine up.😎😂💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
Holy cow, you just made my top 3 most awesome hacks I’ve seen on TH-cam. I just refolded all 32 of my t-shirts, and somehow manically made more space in my drawer. AND I reversed the fold so I can see my graphics on the outside without having to stack in my drawer. Now to not forget how to do this tomorrow.
my husband was in the military and he still folds his clothing just like that…love the military
Been doing that since 1991..boot camp great lakes..go navy
In the Army we rolled our clothes up and it’s quick and keeps them wrinkle free.
That’s what I do. I was not in the service, but I dated a biker a long time ago. 😂🤣 that’s what I got in the habit of rolling up my clothes.
I rolled mine up to for the same reason. I actually learned it from my daughter. She said it saves room and it certainly does, and the T-shirt don’t look all wrinkly.
I hang mine. Fast and wrinkle free
Actually make sure I could get everything in my duffle I rolled everything up. I dont ever remember doing that
That's the way I fold (roll) my clothes when traveling. 👍
Thanks for the great tip dad! Hopefully like this i can fit more shirts in my dresser!
You bet!👍
And it would save space.
The way you fold them definitely can make a bigger difference than one would imagine. I fold in half then roll mine. Can fit double what I could before I started doing that.
Too many creases.
Terrible idea
My dad was in the USN and until the day he died he still folded his clothes like he was still enlisted. He never had to turn the lights on to get dressed. Everything had its place. It was instilled in me as well
Thanks for sharing that, I love the bit about the lights....yes everything has a place
Old navy wife. I’m 77 and learned this way so long ago. I still fold tee shirts etc this way. The best for drawers and travel.
Thank you for sharing this😊
Go make your bed
Line in the middle of the shirt and collar
Can't see the front
It's a pass for me.
STILL do mine this way, boot camp was in ‘82
Squared away is the only way to be
@@BaaSicStuff
Now, do you recall how to fold the raincoat?
Turned that huge thing into such a neat package.
@@pmrich7035 owe man thats a good one
You are one squared away sailor!
Im having flash backs of bootcamp! 😅
That's how I've done it since boot camp
I was in the Navy in the mid 80's. We were taught to fold in thirds. I have always folded that way since then. But I like your version better!! I will be trying this!! Thanks!! ❤
That snap in the beginning was awesome
Haven’t seen or done that since I got out a long time ago. U.S.N Gunners Mate.
Sailors are awesome 😎
@@BaaSicStuff I always thought so.😁😂
ADJ checking in.
@@jimmckinnon7148 owe Dam! 💯🤟🏻
Thank you for your service!
I love this. My daughter and I are packing for Europe and I showed her this video so she can pack more efficiently.
Love it and have just finished folding all my t-shirts this way, saving loads of space, thanks !
US Army, rolls everything.
love the Army!
I’ve been folding my t-shirts wrong for decades! This is way better than my janky ass hillbilly method.
By god you CAN teach old dogs new tricks. Thanks
Thanks brother
Thank you! I was thinking of getting new dressers, all I need is to fold my shirts 👕 like this! Saves so much space!👍
Wow!!!
I thought I was OCD but I'm not even close to this guy!!!
But I’d have to make my bed first 😩
My dad was in the Navy, so I’m going to adopt this way of folding T-shirts because he would appreciate it. miss my daddy. Period
🙏

I was in the Navy in the 90s. Exactly how I remember. Especially with limited space on long aircraft carrier developments. That was a must.
April 1976... san diego... still folding them the same way i was taught in boot camp...
GO NAVY !!!!
Doesn't that make creases?
no
GM SINCE 2004 and haven’t stopped folding my shirts like this since.
I been doing this since I got out of boot camp in '06. Beat way to fold them 😅
Dang it! Now I HAVE to change my fold/roll method. Way superior.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! Sorry about being so excited my drawers a mess with how I'm folding them .😂 thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I can’t believe it! I’ve been folding my clothes ever since boot camp! But it looks like it’s changed somewhat from my training to when you were instructed.
Retired 20 Year Navy Chief here,,, and still fold my clothes the same way!!!
lol
Look how neat his wardrobe is, not to forget his bed is made!
The best way to travel. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
My father was in the Navy. Thank you and all of your crew for your service!
Brings back memories...yet till this day I still do them exactly the same. Thank you, shipmate! Chaps Perez
You bet
My husband served aboard subs for 21 years. He used to fold his t- shirts that way. His rack didn't have much room, as you must know. He retired 21 years ago. He doesn't fold like that anymore. Except when we fly somewhere. We try to avoid checked baggage Ransome money. This is a great way to pack a week worth in a carry on.
I still remember my boot camp days, and this folding method.
When I seent the stack of folded shirts I immediately knew that’s the navy way!
I am 77, Navy vet 1966-70, learned this method in Boot Camp, and have folded my T shirts this way ever since. Quick, easy, and efficient
I was always doing the steps in the wrong order, so I would just pile them up and peel one off when needed.
Now I'm psyched to start folding them.
TY
My hubby is 28 yr vet and always folds his t-shirts in like this but i want to see the front otherwise i dont know which t-shirt it is. If they are all the same it doesnt matter.
Beautiful, great tip, I love tee shirts too!! Thank you. GOD bless you.❤❤🎉🎉
Bless you too
I love it , takes up less room in the drawer. ❤
You just saved my tshirt investments!! Thank you!
I hang but that gets out of hand. This is great!
😂 Works for me. I'm for anything that's organized, nice, cheap, clean & looks good. Heyyyyyyyy😄
Yes it does!
This just came up on my feed. I was so impressed, I tried refolding a couple of T-shirts. They certainly pack up neatly! Just acquired a whole bunch more drawer space. 😊
20 years in the Navy and i still fold my clothes the way i was taught in boot camp
You outdid Marie Kondo!!
Strolling through TH-cam and I’m like I know this guy! You’re a celebrity Chris! I have to show Alan this because after 30 years he still can’t fold shirts! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Hi! I just hit 100,000 subs! Thank you for commenting
Thanks!! Wow definitely saves space!!
Excellent video. I love my T-shirts and have several drawers full of them. I'm going to refold all of them right away. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Are you the same man who showed me how to hang my sweaters? Awesome!
My dad showed us many of these tips when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing and bringing back memories.
My hubby USAFA grad. He does the folding of towels, bedding, and his tee shirts. Which works out great for us.
We folded out t-shirts a little differently back when I was in the Navy, but the end result looks exactly the same.
Doing this tomorrow. Switching up from a military roll. Will watch a few more times to nail it.
Been out of the navy since 2009 and I still fold shirts this way.
My husband was in the Marine Corp and this is why he now does the laundry.😂
Have not did that in 44 years brings back memories
Thanks I watched about 4 times to get it right
Whoah......wait a tick... the way the US NAVY does it IN BOOTCAMP!
I love tee shirts too. I’m definitely going to use this.
You should!
Fantastic. I will use this always going forward.
I love that. It creates all kinds of space
Good luck remembering what logo or pattern is on the front
Most my shirt are only colored, no logos ..... used to be 35 cents downtown LA now they run $2 each
I just chuck 'em in my t-shirt drawer. Saves me a lot of precious time. 🤣😂😅
And when you fold it in half it folds the collar😮😂
I bet it saves closet space too. I'll remember that. Thanks buddy 😊
Good job, shipmate
I left the Navy in 2007 and to this day I still fold my cloths the very same way.
Good use of the hand irons... Reminds me of boot camp. ❤
That is awesome. My husband loves T-shirts too and has quite a few. That method of folding will definitely make more room in the drawer.
Totally!
This looks better than those six inch rolls the army taught me. I might adopt this technique. It’s definitely getting added to my “what I learned today” list
Thank you
😮 even better. Now, let me see how long my kids will keep it neatly organized. Challenge accepted. 🫡
Do room inspections if they’re young they will love it when you say good job. A child should seek Dads approval and never fear him
I learned from my Navy husband 36 years ago...still folding them today the same way!
Aww man!! Now I have to go refold ALL my Tshirts. ❤ 😅 Thank you so much. This looks like it will cut down on more space😊.
it will and you will be so proud of the stack when youre done
I love it! Always have funky leftover space. 👍
My late husband was in the Navy for from 1989-1996. Rolling things up then stowing them in your sea bag was squared away with them back then. Or he was just that lazy! GO NAVY💙
Love it!!!!! thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this.
You don’t know what is in the front. I fold sleeves and sides back (like at the store display) and then fold in half. You can see the front of the shirt to know what you’re wearing
Thankya brings back memories of our Dear Navy SCPO Brotherfriend great space saving technique gunna start doing this it smart🏆🏅🎖🥇
very calming to look at. I'm from retail. I fold my tees the way they're done in dept stores.
You seem calm
Skinny fat fat skinny was our boot camp term to remember the correct final fold lol.
“So you’re not folding the it”
Next step he proceeds to fold it
Joined the Navy 1990 and I still fold my shirts that way
My dad served 20 years on submarines for the first 15 years of his career. He was a master folder. King of all folders and he get more in a suit case than any human I've ever known! Miss you every day Dad 😢
Daughters are great, they love their Dads so much
wool blanket tips is cool
I really like the Navy how the package things, in there backpacks.
I am trying to learn from them👏🏼
I do it like clothing stores do, but I like this method also.
I bought a $10 folding board from Amazon. Easy to fold a shirt in 3 steps, design showing so I know what shirt is what, and the shirts stack nicely in a drawer.
I like it especially if you put into the drawer very organized
