  • Here is a video that I was asked to make by a subscriber. How to fold a dress shirt for your luggage. This fold can be used for any type of shirt. In this video I go over two types of folds that can be used. First is a regular fold the second is the type of fold used by factories when you receive the shirt as new from the store. You will be amazed at how they do it. If you have new suggestions for videos of please do post in the comments. Coming up next is another big giveaway I announce toward the end of the video so please watch. I only giveaway expensive stuff. See you all when I am back at it.

    Adding tissue paper to rest on each shirt also helps to reduce wrinkles as well as packaging each shirt back into plastic (You can get the plastic from your cleaners). Finally I leave cardboard on the back of each folded shirt. These methods greatly decrease wrinkles as well👍🏾

      @@nellythedogbrownie2617 Hi yes sometimes it helps as well, but the technique of the folding is mist important.

    • @Blubrews
      @Blubrews 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This technique is basically for packing a luggage adding tissue papers plastics or cardboard will increase the baggage weight unnecessarily. I fold shirts and then put all of them together either in one thick plastic packet or a plastic/cardboard folder organiser, secure with a ribbon if needed. You can wear the shirt without having to iron it. Zero wrinkles.

    Having been a business traveler for the better parts of 20 years, I can say now that *it really doesn't matter how you fold your shirts* - you will have to iron them at your destination anyway before being able to wear them. Using the standard technique shown in this video will produce creases (not wrinkles) that make the shirt unacceptable to wear in a professional setting. Just throwing it into the suitcase will produce wrinkles (not creases) - but again, it doesn't matter, you'll have to iron anyway.
    The advantage of the technique shown here is space efficiency and easy organisation at your destination when bringing multiple shirts. So go with this one if you want, it's not bad, but don't buy into the illusion that you can just pull the shirt out of the suitcase and wear it. Nuh-uh.

    • @suitcafe
      @suitcafe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TheUrbanEpicure I agree with you. 100% cotton shirts are difficult to pack because some wrinkles always happen. I need to do an update to this video asap actually. From my own experience, I trend to put the folded shirt on the top of the luggage and then close. Seems to work out better. I can say in very fine cotton shirts the lines on the front tend to fall away after hanging the shirt up on a hangar after unpacking and you should be good to go. It really helps to use a form when folding the shirt. I use an oversize magazine. Center the form on the back of the shirt below the collar, make your first shirt folds then your sleeve folds and slide the form out. Finish the long-way folds. The form makes it easier and ensures that all your shirts are folded symmetrically and all the same size.

    Thanks, I have looked at several different videos on how to fold a shirt, it seems to me that what every way you fold it, after it’s been squashed in a case with a lot of other stuff, which is the most common way people pack a case, you will still have to iron it, that is the most likely outcome, never mind it doesn’t take long to do.

    • @suitcafe
      @suitcafe  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @straightwhiteman100 Thanks for watching this video. Because of the nature of cotton which most shirts are made out of there will always be some wrinkling as you say. What I try and do in the luggage is not make the last fold in this video and keep the shirt on the longer side so the front does not have too many creases. That way if I have a suit jacket on the shirt still looks good. You may like my other video on how to fold a suit jacket for your luggage with no wrinkles. This one really works well. Here is a link. @Grega Bregar Glad you watched this video & it helped you out. If you have folded shirts say from a cleaner or new from a store you can stack them, but be sure to alternate the collars. In other words don’t put the collars directly on top of one another. Hanging shirts works well if you don’t need to pack them in luggage. Hope that helps. @sammieinman8145 Hi and thanks for watching this video. 18 37/8 is not that big. Most of my clients are his size and larger which I find interesting. I think when it comes to better men's clothing bigger guys do not have lots of choices for handmade Italian suits, jackets or shirts so they find me online or hear from their friends. I actually wear a 16 36/37 sleeve. Smaller neck, but fairly close in sleeves. You can fold the shirt the same way as in the video. A shirt factory fold shirts in this way regardless of the size. I also have a video on how to fold a jacket for travel or luggage without any wrinkles. You may like to see it. To prevent wrinkles on the sleeves, connect the sleeves to the shirt with safety pins. Until the sleeves won’t move as you transport the shirt to the luggage. You might have to use a lot of safety pins on the sleeves.
    When you get to your destination; when you take your shirt out. There will be no wrinkles on the sleeves.

    Hmm, that beautifully folded, packaged shirt has tons of creases in it. Would you really wear it right out of that right out of the package, without ironing it? I would only if I were also wearing a jacket to hide 80% of the shirt, with all the creases from being beautifully folded & packaged. But without a jacket, I'd absolutely have to iron the shirt that came out of the plastic wrap. So learning how to fold it up like that again, so it's just like how it came from the store or cleaners doesn't really help. Because I have to iron those, too.

    • @suitcafe
      @suitcafe  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @yousweetpotato1 Thanks for watching this video. You're right about shirts are terribly wrinkled from the package. My goal here was to show how you can fold a shirt for your luggage by mimicking the exact fold of a store bought shirt for size constraints and to keep the collar from getting destroyed. You are correct in that if your shirt is wrinkled from a package and you have no choice to wear it before pressing, wear a jacket to hide most of the folding lines. Certainly after packing and from a package a new shirt needs a bit of pressing or for very high end cotton shirts you can hang them on a hangar and many of the creases will fall off. If you want to see a fold that can be used for a suit jacket for travel without wrinkles, I have a great, time tested video for that. Check out the comments where many have been able to travel far distances and upon their destination wear their suit directly from the luggage. I hope you can take a moment to watch it. I have posted a link for your here. Enjoy!!! th-cam.com/video/rJ3sfiUx_uo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gtMPPobY_dYS35xj

    I said before you can use safety pins for your sleeves. Forget about that. You are to put your pants, tie, suit jacket horizontal in front of you in the suitcase. You are to put your dress shirt vertical in front of you in the suitcase. Connect the strap to secure the clothes. Make sure there is a lot of stuff in your upper compartment. Our else it will smash your suit and shirt. And you will have wrinkles. If you do this as I suggested, you won’t get wrinkles on your shirt nor your sleeves.
