Like he is a child of the sun and HE NEEDS LIGHT IN SOMEWAY, every light related character in Greek mythology isn’t allowed even in the underworld because of that. SOOOOO that might the reason :,)

That dream sequence is interesting. Rick Riordan usually uses dreams as a plot device to show events which are happening away from the main character (or in the past), whereas this one is clearly described as false. There was that article on the website about Hypnos, so I assume he's behind it.

Hii!! I didn't read any of it because I want to wait for the actual book, but the prologue is so sweet, especially as a young queer person being able to read fantasy with the knowledge that there are characters like me, and it isn't over stereotyped it's just normal.

All the major characters from Heroes of Olympus (except Annabeth) appeared prominently in at least one book each, so if Nico talks about where they are now then you might be wondering what happened. Nico and Will also had a major role in The Tower of Nero, which sort of set this up. This is advertised as a standalone book though, so I doubt that'd be required to understand it.
