I still strongly get the feeling the original plan was to have all the endings to be animated in 3D before deciding midway through development it wasn’t a realistic goal and came up with the comic book style as a solution. Even then, it seems like they had to cut corners? It’s very odd that the Bad Vanny ending here is the only comic book ending with voice acting for any of the characters (Freddy telling Gregory he’s his superstar). The unearthed subtitles for the Van Escape ending also give me that impression?
Damn. They didn't even have this done two weeks before the game was supposed to launch? One year delay for this huh? I really wanna see the game's state from 6 months ago.

Oftentimes assets are done but not immediately implemented into engine. This is normal for most game studios
