Being uploaded now. Loaded it last night but was at 360p! Lol 🤣 looked like I recorded it with a flip out razor phone haha. I hope I have it right this time. Thanks!
"????" is the effect of an external burn. Probably some bttery modules has been affected by the heat and could be dangerous to use in EV (probably still usable in photovoltaic installation). The battery probably comes from another car. I would open the batery and check internal resistance of each module before to use in EV.
Agreed!. My only jack that rolled was leaking so it's on the list of stuff I need. Lowering the car would of helped as well. Raising the battery the scissor jacks were much harder to get lined up perfectly. Oh how much a lift would of made this whole process a breeze!! One day!
I bought a wrecked nissan leaf 2012 for $500 CAD without the main battery last year. Sold all the parts in 7 months , made 25 K out of it. Rims I sold $200 each. This car you can make a lot of money
Yes, that has been an idea. I am trying to just get my money back but I may have to part it out and I have the entire setup for sell in two places. My other option was I have a gem golf cart front assembly and I could make it a golf cart car lol. Navtivas drivetrain on 80v 600a. As I live next to the Ocala National Forest I could lift it and put some ATV tires on it. Should make a great build video! 2012 has the horrible 1gen battery.
@@nogasproductions9431 great build video may work too since you may get money from youtube in a long run. Also, it teaches and gives ideas to other people.
I have TH-cam to thank for a lot of my EV knowledge. Many great people on here with way more experience and I hope one day I'll inspire someone as well. Happy New Year!
Spyleaf pro is what I used to to clear the code and pair the battery. Since they added that feature it has helped many pair batteries and even change inverters granted you have an upgraded pack or change the main fuse.
I know it's a little late now... but you might have wanted to add a little charge to that battery before pulling it. The SoC is kinda low, and charging outside of a vehicle can be difficult. EDIT: Just saw the burn? 😆 Maybe charging it is a bad idea until that's investigated.
It is not possible to charge without setting up the cooling system for the charger. It will overheat for sure. The pcm will not talk to my OBD2 doggle so I can't clear codes or anything. Has to be installed into my car then I can charge it up. Lithium ion storage voltage is 30-40% for long term. Which is very close to this. She's fine except the high miles and fast charges that degraded it faster.
Exposed? I had them taped up while sitting waiting for a battery. Not sure what part you referring to. These connections are not live and are tinned to avoid corrosion. Fyi I've put over 700 miles on the car since the replacement pack. Some heavy foot adventures as well and even hit top speed 😂 90mph woohoo.
@@nogasproductions9431 You 'just' plugged it in and it worked? No having to get the battery 'matched' to the car's VCU? Maybe they've taken this anti-theft system out. Previously you couldn't just swap batteries; you had to use some nissan software to match the internal BMS unit in the battery with the car.
@@nogasproductions9431 (I'm the same person as mb-3faze) - actually I spotted that video - thanks. I did some work with broken Leafs - here's one I made 9 years ago. th-cam.com/video/McvDjpdcBw0/w-d-xo.html I/we used the batteries in other EV conversions (some videos on that same channel). Good luck with your rejuvenated Leaf!
Yes deal of a lifetime. No reward without risk. 48 modules are worth $75+ each. Tesla has modules that if one failed you replace a 6s module for about $1200 cost. You would need to match the ah with yours though. To build my own battery for the leaf with 18650 cells I would need over 2000 cells at a cost of about 9k. Paid 10k for car with 14k miles. Rough..
How did you remove the front fender? I can’t find a way to get to the screw behind the glass near the rear view mirror. Any hint would be welcome. Thanks!
I don't know how I miss these comments but hopefully you have figured it out. There is a bolt behind the mirror or cover for mirror. These fenders are foam sealed on the back side and you can see it when you open your door for wind noise. Just put up part 4 and part 5 is in the works which is detailing and range extender plus hitch installation. .
As fare as I know your project should not have worked. From my understanding, you need to replace the Cam Bus in-order to get the computer to except the battery from another car. A guy in Britten sales them.
The locksmith paired my key with the red one and now apparently one key works for both leafs now lol. Only $100 for them to drive out and took maybe 10 mins.
Yes for sure the modules go for $100-+ each so X 48 modules $$. I think it will be good to use for a year or two then maybe put it up for sale. Really would like a 40kwh but some others probably would love to have this one. (1st gen owners).
Actually I have 3 more videos on this and I've done over 7k miles on this pack. I do 80 miles a day round trip. Charge at work to get back. 75% to get one way. Works perfectly
This was replacing the ev battery..? I plan on getting a 40kwh wrecked leaf and then I'll sell each module out of this pack for $75 each x 48 modules. I will not loose. Also I sold the rest of the car minus the chadmoe cable for $500!
Very entertaining to watch and to listen to the commentary.
Looks a very good deal though I will reserve my comments until I watch the remaining 2 Parts.
I'm looking forward to the next installment

A floor jack supporting a sheet of plywood should have made it easier for removing and installing batteries.

Hopefully u will not have to deal with errors after bat install... They can b a headache and get ur car into turtle mode till fixed. Good luck

The story I was told about this vehicle was the daughter borrowed it...end of story lol.
Something about a ditch and the poor Leaf got parked in it.
