- SINGAPORE: The National Day Parade officially got underway at 5:40pm Saturday (Aug 9), but revellers came early, slowly transforming the Floating Platform into a sea of red. But it was seeing the Red Lions parachute team take a plunge from 10,000 ft that got them excited.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PARADE
The Floating Platform turned into a big colourful party with this year's show segment. It celebrates the resilience of Singaporeans, and took audiences through stories of locals from all walks of life. It not only was a visual feast of multimedia, vibrant costumes and pop culture, it also bore a strong message of grit, determination, and lending a hand to one another.
For the first time in 16 years, there was also no theme song, but participants and the crowd indulged in some nostalgia with familiar favourites. Just after 8pm, the nation came to a standstill as Singaporeans recited the pledge together and sang the national anthem.
And as the song ended, the dark skies filled up in a burst of colour, marking a spectacular end to the nation's birthday

The thing Im consistently most impressed with is the orderliness of the parade! The march is literally as one always and barely any slip-ups at all always. The contingents are always on time also as in when the command is shouted they immediately react without any form of slowness. They really practiced hard to produce such orderliness and timeliness for sure.!!

It’s 7th August 2020 and I watched this video because of one special person which is Mr SINGAPORE, Our Founding Fathers, without him, there’s no Singapore.
Sadly Lee kuan yew wouldn't be able to celebrate SG50 With us. But I hope he would by watching from above. RIP

I wondered where the uniformed groups put those umbrellas when they are marching up the seating gallery..
As a participant in one of the UG Contingents,(try guessing), there was a bin to put the umbrellas in down at the staircase ,then an army personnel will give us a flag to wave.
One thing I don't like, I watched a NDP preview video about Act 4: Be It! on a Facebook page and I realised at the 2:14:57 , the flag bearers are already doing a precision drill and they were only capturing the main band.
Took part in the flag drills man, was part of door 4. I dunno why, but I realised its not about where the cameras are pointing but showing your gratitude to Singapore.
But my point is to show the full performance instead of cutting off camera to one point only.
