Honestly, I appreciate that he doesn't cut out his mistakes he makes while doing the practice. It's extremely encouraging to be reminded that even the pros make mistakes!
Do you have a seperate pay site for structured lessons? I'm not having much luck finding bass lessons online that are like taking them in person where each lesson moves on from the last and gets progressively more advanced.
I do have some paid structured courses about things like technique, groove and playing by ear, but none of them are open for enrolment at the moment @Joe bob. If you head to becomeabassist.com and jump on the mailing list though, I'll let you know when I'm opening the doors to the programs.
If your plucking hand isn't available to mute the overtones, then you basically have two viable options. #1 - Figure out how to use your fretting hand to stop them, since you can't use your plucking hand. Or #2 - Try your best to figure out the *source* of the overtones and eliminate them before they become an issue. If I'm playing on the E or A-strings, I find my fretting hand will mute any overtones on the D and G-strings, and if I'm playing on the D or G-strings, it'll be my plucking hand that will mute the E and A-strings.
