  • China's aggressive moves in the South China Sea and beyond have left it few friends in its neighborhood. And China's claims to other countries' territory has only made the US and its allies more vigilant when it comes to China's actions in the area, bringing closer scrutiny. In this episode of China Unscripted, we discuss China's claims in the South China sea, how the US is now coordinating with the Philippines, and how Japan has entered the equation. Joining us in this episode is David Day, the chairman of the Global Risk Mitigation Foundation, and one of the leading international legal practitioners on the Indopacific region, including the Philippines.

Someone should educate China about the Philippines' history of warfare :

Philippines and US are very close allies. Philippines, when it was still a significant power, always participated and supported the US in it's wars in Asia.
Philippines was very active in the Korean war. There's even an event were a thousand Filipino Soldiers defeated 30 thousand (albeit poorly equipped) Communist Chinese soldiers. That event prompted General McArthur to say "Give me ten thousand Filipinos and I will conquer the world.". The success of the Philippine defense in the Battle of Yultong helped halt the Chinese advance which was then gaining it's momentum that was pushing back the allied forces.
Philippines also sent 2 thousand soldiers in the Vietnam war. Though they have mainly taken the back seat and focused more on supporting role such as clerical and medical functions. Mostly for humanitarian aid.
Philippines value freedom and democracy the most and will almost always never back down whenever someone tries to invade it's land and territory.

With that, other countries now have their rights to move around the ASEAN sea as international water. Then, the Philippines denied China’s proposal to lease a port then allowed an American company to have the lease instead. I think the company’s job is maintenance of ships including American military ships. The current Philippine president allowed military exercises at new military camps in Philippines with nations that respect the national boundaries of the Philippines including its exclusive economic zone which China claims.

Talking about Siera Madre....I am thinking asking my junk business friend go to U.S. to buy a number of mothballed U.S. Navy ships that abounds and cost U.S. gov't dollars to maintain.. . to reinforce Sirra Madre and as well in all other shoals within the Philippine sea domain . I hope our intention will be cascaded to U.S. Embassy for our visa required to visit U.S. ....in due time.

Yes the Philippines is going to build a base in the BRP Sierra Madre they already talked about a budget proposal in the senate and everyone in the senate is in agreement to build a base over there.

  • @francissantos7448

I agree, Mischief reef military base turned to be a white elephant. It doesn't have fresh water supply and geography to hide weapons. You don't need to replace BRP Sierra Madre. You can maintain a flag there for an eternity. The replacement is in being developed on Palawan. Lots of fresh water there and lots of geography.

Before General McArthur landed in Leyte the Japanese imperial army were already defeated in Mindanao by the Moro warriors the same group of warrior tribes that the Spanish and Americans have encountered prompting the Americans to invent the 1911 Colt 45 pistol because theyre having a hard defeating the Muslim Jurementados. let us remind the Chinese about the fearsome Pintados warrior tribes that often raided China during the post spanish colonial. time. The Philippines was a land of warriors a nation that was tamed only by Christianity or Catholicism. but the warrior traits is still there so China dont bully the Philippines we will fight u and we will defeat your army just like the battle of Yultong during the Korean war 40 thousand Chinese PLA were defeated by less than a thousand Filipino soldiers

But, I guess, when we are also on the edge of falling into a dictatorship, we wouldn't want to upset any of the other authoritarians. There were almost as many people here that could vote, that didn't as did vote. It's all fun and games, till you lose the opportunity all together.

Would the Chinese be able to do what they are doing now in the Philippine Sea if Clark Air Force Base and Subic U.S. Naval Base are still around? Yes, as matter of formality, their leases ended and the Philippines did not renew the lease. But it was also a U.S. Government decision to pull back due to the collapse of its arch enemy - the USSR. It was a shortsighted decision.

Mga American personnel (Seabees) galing sa Japan at Guam ang unang tumulong sa Olongapo at Zambales. Sila ang nag clearing ng buhangin at nag provide ng drinking water para sa buong Olongapo sa Subic Naval base main gate.
