First off, I'd like to say this is without a doubt the BEST visual production I've ever seen on a La Blogotheque video. Second, this just reminded how much I love math rock. So, thanks!
Sorry but does anyone else think this is the one of the best live video/audio recordings ever. Yes, Battles are a great band but the people who made this video are amazing.
Yeah I'm very lucky, I managed to chat and get my album signed by Dave in Liverpool. If you ever get a chance to see them I recommend getting on Dave's side of the stage, he's amazing to watch perform.
OH...MY.....GOODNESS!..... =O this is...this is........this is the best video and the most awesome editing I've seen on La Blogotheque...and these guys rocked my world with this really amazing and fascinating music....I so love La Blogotheque, always brightens my day :))))) woooooooo,c'est genial
This is become one of my favourite rock and roll song endings, like if I had to choose the way I was going to die it would be sitting in front of their amps, my face melting off my skullbone...good times! ✌🏼😁
Well you know what's happened there don't you? I've gone and fallen in love with Battles. Should a very nearly 30 year old man have these kind of feelings about a new addition to his listening collection. Put that Deacon Blue album down, it's not time to give up yet. Roll on Glastonbury. I'll be the one looking excited.
Yeah, half of me knew it was the editing. I do have strong belief that they're a great live band; although I haven't experienced it myself. It's cool you've gotten to see them perform live though.
i have no idea what trakc this is but it's now my favorite Battles track. i was really scared that the leaving of Tyondai would impair this band greatly but it hasn't at all! ...and Ian Williams looks a bit like a mad scientist or a head chef in that outfit.
Sorry to break the news this way, but they aren't humans like the rest of us. These guys are obviously from another planet, and they came all the way down here just to show us how much better music could be.
Not related to the double-keyboard playing, but his dancing reminds ME of Chick Corea if you look at their feet. Same little "sand-kicking" foot movements. Chick Corea live at the maintenence shop, I think is when I first noticed.
Not my cup o whine. I like the production. It seems like "muted high end" is becoming a cool new sound, makes all the elements kind of blend together nicely.
@tirompoicculo I guess they're still taking them away from their natural playing environment though, being in front of cameras and such in a cathedral hall. haha. I love this video, and wonder if Battles performed other songs at this location that were filmed?
Because these guys don't have strong melodies - they have incredible tightness, creativity and fancy equipment. This would not make any sense if played on trash cans and acoustic guitars. Just because it cannot be played acoustic doesn't mean it's not good music.
@SirDegzzalot It isn't, but his crash cymbal is. The idea was that for this project, he really wanted to play drums, not cymbals, and when he DOES hit it, it should be VERY visible.
@NeonFoxLetsPlays hehehe he is a bit of both: let say he like to make musical experiments and he improvise his musical recipes. sometimes he is mad in a rush other times he is just letting it paciently boil until the perfect moment (is what i feel for example in futura)
There was this band I saw and the drummer shipped all their cymbals to france so they could play a canadian tour, every time there was a crash needed, the drummer would fly to france and do a crash and come back.
one of the best videos on this channel! you guys really outdid yourselves!
Hi Anthony
juice b crypts was an 8
Hi Anthony
This is your friendly reminder that this song exists and you should listen to it because it is good!
The audios not lined up right!?
Oh man this is still classic 10 years later!
this is the most engaged video editing ive ever seen :)

This video captures the spirit of a Battles performance perfectly. Thank you for making it!
delphiote no it does't Battles live performances are usually well played but terribly produced in terms of how the audiences hear it.
I just love listening to that snare drum resonating.
I am the 102,000th visitor... Battles are Jammin @ the BDO 2012 only 7 more days until I see these guys. Heck yeah, I cant wait.
Anxiety-inducing song and video. Love it.
This is such a quality clip.... amazing work LaBlogotheque
La Blogotheque are one of the most consistent and brilliant channels on TH-cam. Keep up the awesome work.
This is become one of my favourite rock and roll song endings, like if I had to choose the way I was going to die it would be sitting in front of their amps, my face melting off my skullbone...good times! ✌🏼😁
i watch this video from time to time just to be sure that it's not something i imagined or dreamt about, it really exists. unreal.
"There's a lot of room for MUSIC when you leave the inherently limited formula-based structure of a song aside." Ain't that the truth.
Stainer is a machine!!!amazing!!!
...and the wine was sublime.
loving the natural reverb from that cathedral or whatever it is they are playing in
props to that drummer! my gosh, such intensity. and then 7:50 comes around, wow. that was just too awesome :D
Battles is so awesome. Great production.
Well you know what's happened there don't you? I've gone and fallen in love with Battles. An entire album needs to be done here by them.
Truly mind-blowing.
One their best videos yet.
this is an achievement in terms of editing and sound quality. Great job!
Gorgeous colour grading! Massive props to whoever did it!
whoever the cameraman is, kudos. your freaking amazing
john stanier is a BEAST...and yes this SHOULD have more views :)
The off hi-hat hits are completely down to the video editing. I've seen this live twice now and its always as good as this.
かっこよすぎます。曲も映像も最高。
BATTLES shows already resemble an action movie. this production greatly enhances that effect.
Stunning music, stunning video, stunning production. All around 10/10.
I love almost every that you do, but this was over the top cool.
In a controlled environment... this.. my friends... is quality at best... from... the best
Best film EVER!
this is freaking amazing, battles and the film. WIN!
so happy I was introduced to this band
COOLEST video I've seen y'all put out YET!!!! AWESOME!!!!
Just fantastic.
THAT DRUM SOUND
This is in the Top 100 videos of all time.
Stanier must have a huge cymbal bag for all his cymbals.
Battles are really an audio/visual project. Collaboration between lots of musical/video artists
this a top of the line production, bravo!
This building is amazing.
yes please, another track!!
The flooring matching this band perfectly
Drummer is bad ass !
Great video !!
Pfff goosebumps! This is crazyyyyy!
Now this is Class.
Excelente para una tarde...
Just made my day!
Yeah, half of me knew it was the editing. I do have strong belief that they're a great live band; although I haven't experienced it myself. It's cool you've gotten to see them perform live though.
Great film. Great drummer.Pretentious band.
I saw them In Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago.. They destroyed! Love Battles!
i have no idea what trakc this is but it's now my favorite Battles track.
i was really scared that the leaving of Tyondai would impair this band greatly but it hasn't at all!
...and Ian Williams looks a bit like a mad scientist or a head chef in that outfit.
THIS NEEDS MORE VIEWS
We clearly can see their music comes from classic composition methods, the furniture and red wine.
AMO A ESTA BANDA !!!
Holy hell on wheels..... 4:12 to 5:12 is pure soul-wrenching genius....
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
John Stanier!!
This is insane, soo good
Haaha, I'd love to see that! Or have Alan airplay the two side-by-side keyboards.
cool song and cool band
Ill still be listening to this once we all live on Mars.
no way you got battles??!?!?!
awesoooooooome!!!!!!!!
So good..
Sorry to break the news this way, but they aren't humans like the rest of us. These guys are obviously from another planet, and they came all the way down here just to show us how much better music could be.
Stanier is godlike!!!!!!!!!!!
The drummer is on a par with animal from the muppets ... Excellent
Love Battles, but the music and the setting are REALLY incongruous.
Wonderful!
guitar player was in Don Caballero. NUFF SAID
Really?? I didn't know it. How cool is that? :D
Gabriel Gallardo Very cool
Andre Jolly Well, the one playing the keyboards in this video.
Helmet’s original drummer as well.
Yeah, Battles is like a under the radar supergroup that should be a household name.
I didn't know it was possible to have this many angles from one concert/song.... 0.o
I get see They in Guadalajara! when they star to play this song , thats what im going to put this song on favorites hahaha, its amazing (:
Peace
Holyyy mother of EPIC!
amaaaaazinnnnnnng

@Kelavmeister yeah that's what I meant. Alternating between floor tom and bass drum. It sounds cool - I'm going to start doing that
His keyboard set up is laser!
That drummer man... that drummer
I was about to say. Like the music or not, it certainly fits the title.
I have to agree with you 100%
Not my cup o whine. I like the production. It seems like "muted high end" is becoming a cool new sound, makes all the elements kind of blend together nicely.

I started drinking a lot more red wine after watching this video...
radical elegance
SO UNDER-RATED!

@cloneofbogart totally should of videos the whole of africastle than wall street, hopefully they will upload it soon
you have ready good songs
@Toxeensynth
Absolutely ! He was in Lynx before. Check it, it's good math rock, even as good as Don Cab in my opinion.
what hi hat does Stanier use? I want it bad!! has such a beefy sound and crystal clear pitch on the open hat
