Whew.........LONG one boys, get your snacks ready!
    Clarification:
    1. When talking about using the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 with MC-11 adapter I said "e mount", I meant "EF Mount"
    2. The 4k is a downsample of 6k
    3. There was something else, i'm sure someone will correct me in the comments lmao. Mistakes guys

Shinobihiden ty finally someone that sees an importance in equipment. I can't stand it when people say it's not about the gear. You can film on a phone, I don't need this gear/camera etc. That's not true. Yes you do need the gear. Otherwise why did you purchase it?

    • @Levi_Allen
      @Levi_Allen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Maybe you missed the part where I didn’t say crisp. I’m referencing the framing and color tones. I certainly attribute his taste to him more than the camera he shot it with. Anyone making camera excuses preventing from great images in 2018 has missed the boat.

I’ve shot Panasonic for years, finally went over to the dark side, never been happier. I knew you’d say you loved s35 mode - I’ve got it programmed to the OK button since I use it constantly. As far as colors go - I find they’re virtually perfect SOOC (I shoot Cine2), and like you say, better than the GH5. Can’t wait for the 24mm f/1.4 to drop. Great review!

Thanks for this review. You're one of the least biased reviewers out there and are really honest in your personal user experience as opposed to many reviewers who only seem to defend 'their team' and bash others. For me personally I am holding on to my gh5 until the specs on the Panasonic S1 are revealed because I mainly shoot with anamorphic lenses and depend on a 4:3 sensor mode. That being said the Sony looks pretty good.

I'm in the process of switching from the GH5 to the A7iii also, quite comforting to hear your experience. I filmed a load of great footage from the GH5, in good light it's exceptional.
I don't film much in slow mo so that's not an issue but auto focus and low light is so I'm very happy I came across your video.
Well done mate, clear, concise information, well presented and very nicely filmed.

Great video. This review and a few others have helped me decide that the a7iii is the camera for me. My priorities are autofocus, low light, and good quality in both still photography and video. The Super 35 feature is something I wasn't aware of in my research so far, and that sounds like a fantastic feature! You also provide a clear view of the camera's drawbacks (slow motion at 1080), which is a slight disappointment, but not a dealbreaker for me. I also like your fair-mindedness and calm approach. You've earned a subscribe! Thank you.

Thanks so much for this review! This is maybe the best, most honest review I ever watched. As I own the A7III myself, so I know about the good and bad sides, but this just wraps up my thoughts perfectly. Just a small comment on the slomo low light: There are a couple of this using different PP's for better low light performance, maybe you play around with it a bit more. It's never gonna be as good as the GH5, but it can be better than with the Cine4 PP. Keep 'em coming mate, you rock!

Nice video; I like your style: informed laid back humble. Very cool. Thanks for the detailed experience-based notes on GH5 vs. A7iii -- very useful since I am trying to decide between exactly these two. For me, the weak 120 fps is no loss, since I shoot all community theater, where slo-mo never factors in, but the low-light demands (and HDR) are intense and nearly constant.

I agree with your assessment between both cameras. I personally own the GH5 and the Sony A7riii. I used Nikon for years and went to the A7riii because I wanted one camera that could do it all despite the slight quality loss in terms of slo-mo. Like you said, you’ll take a hit with any camera. There’s so many amazing options out there you really just have to get what best suits your needs such as autofocus etc and feels the best to use.
To me the slo-mo footage you got looks really good but I’d have to see a side by side to know any better in comparison to what would look best. If I pay attention in movies I can see artifacts a lot. I’m usually so focused on the story part of movie/videos that I honestly don’t care about slight color shifts etc. The shots you got were really good mainly due to your focus on composition, story telling and really grabbed my attention.

I've been a Panasonic user since 2011 (G3 & G7) buuut have really been considering switching to A7iii cause of the reliable autofocus, the full sensor and the fact that I mainly do events photography & videography. This vid is gonna be hugely helpful in making the right decision!

Auto focus with the latest updates for GH5/5s/9 are tremendous.

Kelly Danté Music won’t you look into the 6D Mark II if you can live without 4K

Damn this video looks amazing. You look like the next Marvel super hero. Your lighting kills......I could only wish.
One of the most honest reviews I've ever seen. Thanks.

Hi CMG, can't wait to see your work and others too using the 24mm 1.4 GM. I've read Albert Dros review and it is insanely good lens, yet so small and light
