Honestly, MTQ is just as bad. Talks way too fast, never shows the mechanics that she explains, repeats herself a lot (that "as necessary" stopped being funny ages ago). There're good other underappreciated guides: Rainesama shows the footage on loop while explaining stuff, so I like his guides. Yukizuri shows both gameplay and diagrams and doesn't talk. But Hector is the best when it comes to diagrams.
@@AcraViolet i like when guides actually follow the timeline instead of saying this will happen and then skip the timing.. thats just what helps me learn way more
@Hector For Cachexia 2 there is "easier" strat to find safe spot: It's always diagonal spots from + without tethers. And stack/spread are always 2 blocks apart (south/north-wise)
Once again, another Legendary guide by Hector. Thanks for all your hard work, you have a great style of making raid guides, your explanations are very digestable, never stop.
I saw other guides before trying P6S, but I only get to defeat it after watching yours. Your explanation and visuals just goes directly to my brain for some reason. Thank you so much. I hope you won't get tired helping the community. You are godsent. Kudos!
For first Cachexia to avoid confusion and wrong adjusts it may be better to take a clock positions based on a color of your debuff and a timer of your aoe. Sorta similar to P1S timer strat (p - purple, g- green) P16 G8 G12 P20 O G20 P12 P8 G16 This way everyone is on the correct side (8-s can move closer to 12-s after 2nd aoe) and as a possible bonus - when 20 go out - they won't clip their neighbors (16 and 12) because they are waiting for their turn.
You may want to have G20 and P20 north and south, so the rotating order to the middle is clockwise, I think it may be wayyy safer because only the G20 and P20 need to remember to get in, all the other just have to wait for their CCW partner to move from the mid, and take their place, without even thinking anymore of their timer . But yeah, good thing to put in a macro
I'll be waiting the guide for P7S XD! Very great job on making these guides! Managed to get a clear in a day with pugs thanks to your guide! Keep it going!
If there is ONE thing about these fights that drive me absolutely crazy it's the names of abilities. They are never easy for me to remember and I hate them with a passion. Fantastic Video though, thank you for taking the time to make these.
Our group has actually chosen to do sort of a relative clock spots for path cells. 1-4 on the markers (or in line with the marker) and 5-8 the same color card. As long as people are in line with their marker when their cleave goes up, you only have to adjust slightly left and right as the cleaves go around, minimizing movement for all, especially casters.
Casters don't need uptime strats anymore. BLM has a lot of tools for movements now, SMN doesn't require casts anymore and RDM... well, they have Dual Cast so they never really needed help.
So well done. I always understand the mechanics and the reason behind the strategy, instead of just following blindly. I love the way you pronuniate everything and you take time on mechanics but not overly so. Another great guide to help everyone be the best warriors of light they can be!
Dude these guides are just so good. Since I found yours I literally don't need any other. Just watch this a couple of times and I am confident I can do most mechanics first try so long as everything isn't chaos. Got to cachexia 2 and post devour first try just from the two guides. Thanks for the hard work
Honestly, I used to watch Mr happy's raid guides, and I probably still will when they come out, but this breakdown on the simplified view makes it much easier to understand. I like this.
these Hector guides are great for this tier! imo the best atm.. .. just here for Cachexia2, it can be a bit misleading, as if snakes (look away) are always on the same side (and wings always on the other side).., once you go to the correct side (purple or green), you can turn into either snake or wing, and have mixed groups
For the longest time I wanted them to make use of timers like they did for Eden's Verse. Cause i thought with a mechanic that happens whenever you need it to pop, it can be really crazy to see how much they can layer it. Seeing a pattern that needs a bit of planning to resolve multiple things makes me happy to see the devs are using their noggin
I was so confused as I was checking Poly 3 and thought "that can't be right", and comment wouldn't load. turns out it wasn't right! Thanks for the vid always
I think other people have mentioned this already but the Cachexia 1 strat requires you to look at other people's debuffs or communicate in order to figure out who to swap with. I think it would be more consistent to just have preassigned spots for each timer on west and east side similar to fourfold shackles. This might require different markers though so I can understand why you went with the clockspot strategy. There doesn't seem to be any widely agreed upon strat for Cachexia yet but my gut tells me that preassigned spots will be easier for most groups.
That only matters for the first swap, after that there are no more explosions to restrict your positioning. If you're the first bait, just keep an eye out for which 8s explosion is closest and be ready to go to that spot.
For Cachexia 2 I noticed that there is always a safe spot in front or behind the unteathered X. You can easily deduct the other 3 safe spots if you got that one as the pattern is always the same.
Love it. You know what may help. Although this will require extra work. Add footage to the blank part of the video (the left or right side) on what the mechanic looks like when explaining the mechanic when you are not adding text on screen.

Now all the reclear parties are filled with "Hector Cachexia" which is terrible. If anyone reads this, rather do sides (wings debuff on snake side, snake debuffs on wings side) then spread from north to south as 8 - 12 - 16. 20's inside the hitbox. 20's wait to get hit by their attack, then move across: 8 - 12 - 16 wait until their vuln-up debuff expires and swap with the one currently in the middle. Again, after the explosion, cross sides. For cachexia 2 do Tankbuster LB3; if you do not reach the dpscheck, which is pretty forgiving, it isn't because you're missing Melee LB3.
20 seconds debuff should be hard assign to East/West position close to boss hitbox depending on debuff, they will already be in position for the 1st bait than just move out when hit.
I'm gonna highly suggest using Dark Ashes clock spots (intercard melee tanks outer intercard ranged healers) for transmission. Tanks aim your cleaves north melee south and all outer players just point out. Makes it so much easier to dodge choros and you don't clip anyone trying to conga line it
Cachexia 2 can also have plus/X on the south wall rather than the north wall. Very important to note that while she does consantly face and autoattack the MT during the setup, as soon as she starts casting Ptera Ixou, she will face true North.
Another note on Ptera Ixou "minimal damage" can be a bit misleading, specifically on Cachexia 2, the stack markers hitting 3 players + Ptera Ixou going off is ~75k damage unmitigated, 31k from the Ptera Ixou.
Good shout with this! I think I expected Ptera Ixou to hit like an ultimate attack, so 31k unmitigated felt like nothing. But you're absolutely right that the end of Cachexia 2 will need some serious shielding/mitigation if groups don't want to use tank lb there!
For Synergy, we've been experiencing for several pulls that one of the tank busters has been targeting other players if the OT becomes aggro #2 AFTER the cast bar already started and not before it. It hasn't been automatically dropping on both tanks. I know most tanks kinda stay aggro #2 even at the start just for safety but figured i'd mentioned what we'd been experiencing. So yeah, for us it's been hitting whoever was aggro #1 and #2 right before the cast
You're correct on this. Synergy always targets top 2 players in aggro, so tanks need to maintain aggro and make sure to provoke if they die. Sorry for not making that clearer in the guide!

Keeping the moved x and + shapes after they're swapped for a moment would be helpful. You kinda fade them out rather quickly? Just a critique but this video has been an amazing resource, thank you
hey hector i just wanted to say thanks your videos are super great helping me get into savage raiding which is content i enjoy alot i do have a small question being do you use any specific program to make these guides ? id like to try to use visual aids to help my FC mates but im just having a hard time
Not that it's a big deal but being nit picky, you just mentioned the colours the wrong way around @12:07 But really good, clear guides. The short follow-ups for adjustments to dealing with mechanics is REALLY good and not something you really see people do. Might be worth linking these in your decription in case anyone doesn't realise you have a follow-up video.
Hector, Party finder relies on you for most strategies. Would you mind standardizing a few things. For instance, PF groups still have to assign players to group every time. Then they have to pick out clock positions for most fights. You could normalize that MT+Regen heal+caster(R1) + melee1 = Party 1. That eliminates thousands of groups doing this on the fly every time. Likewise, when assigning positions, if you would assign R1/R2 separately and H1/H2 separately, it would eliminate so much guess work. Groups could enter and rapidly know: "I'm ranged physical. I must be in party 2 and my clock position for this fight will be top right." Since most PF groups lists "hector strats" in the description, you could easily normalize this the vast majority of groups in PF. It's easier to remember and act on "my position as DNC is top right" then it is to remember which position you happen to have in this group. When PF groups have to choose these things on their own every time it adds at least 2 extra variables to the fight that have to be remembered and acted upon multiple times. Thank you, Hector!
if it's not too much work, do you think it would be possible in the future to add a timer into the video that shows how far into the fight each mechanic starts? obviously it wouldn't work to have it running the whole time, since you walk back and explain stuff out of order or show things happening slowly sometimes, but just knowing when a cast bar will start would be really helpful to me to know sort of when to use my mit to get the most use out of it during the fight. Your videos have been an absolute life saver and I can't thank you enough for making them! Best Regards, a bard main doing their best
Helpful strats::: Exocleave: LP1 - N, LP2 - S rotate CW PathoCells: Odds NW, Evens NE (this allows people to preposition easily to their side and less boss rotation) Transmission: LPs SW/SE (from the pulls I've done, I was able to have two snakes and wings on each side) Please upvote if you guys find this helpful!
For the cachexia 1 strat to work you have to: 1. Look at your timer and debuff 2. If you have the "wrong color" debuff for your position, look at every color debuff in the raid 3. Compare every color debuff in the raid to where the people with those debuffs are standing 4. Swap with a person who is also a "wrong" color 5. If more than 2 people have the wrong color, you are probably just screwed, because there is no priority for who swaps with who 6. If you are on the opposite side of the arena as the person you swap with, you are probably clipping the 20s people, and they are screwed. 7. You will be wiping a whole lot with this strat unless you luck out with easy patterns. You also will have an insanely hard time doing the swaps without voice comms.
Not at all. The colour debuffs are always split into light parties. If I(healer) have the wrong debuff, I will always swap with the other healer. Tanks never swap. DPS are the only ones who can have some trouble, but you just run across and into the empty spot (as another dps is also swapping).
@@HectorHectorson thanks for reply. Didn't realize it was role balanced. Still feels like too many moving parts when there are ways to do it without anyone needing to adjust
6:24 important note; Synergy does Not target tanks exclusively, but the top two in enmity. Off tank Will need to be building sufficient aggro to ensure they get the second hit BEFORE Synergy starts casting.
@@randominternetsurfersurfin7595 as long as it doesn't cause aggro issues in the pull. Offtank can stance up after opening burst and have enough enmity by the first Synergy cast.
Oh lord.... Going into this compared to P5S seems to be massively upped already. Pretty sure when I actually see it and get into it will be fine, but till then. Woof.
During Agonies 2, it looks like the can also be between a random DPS and a random Tank/Healer. The movement in the video is still the correct way to solve the mech, I was just confused the first time I saw myself tethered to a healer.
a lot of these mechanics' names derive from greek, so an easy way to pronounce them is just write the name in google translate in the greek box, for example "choros ixou" and the robot lady will tell you exactly how to pronounce it :D
I noticed a flaw in your animation for the Choros Ixou orbs. The east/west orbs are black with a red halo, whereas the north/south are red with a black halo. If you use visual recognition, it gets confusing on the diagonals if you don't realize this.
I really love your guides, but... Would you consider updating this specific mechanic 6:57 ? The amount of people that try this and just go full monka-steer mode on PF is actually painful and I haven't made it through this mechanic once without getting clipped by somebody who positions incorrectly. The way I did it with my previous static was intercardinal pairs with snakes facing out and wings facing towards the boss. Makes it easier to dodge into the Chorus Ixou, too. I'm obviously not expecting you to do it, but seeing the way people handle this in PF based on your guide is a bit chaotic... 😭
You really should just have all purple be on the left and all green be on the right cause that’s the sides they have to be to take the debuff swap. A green on left could get confused and take the wrong attack on the wrong side.
Its strats ment for no communication. How are you going to tell someone this spot isnt open without vc. But its still a bad strat without voice because you have to pay attention to other people stuff

The guide is really nice ad easy for me to understand and I know it's not been too long since the raid came out~ I just figured i'd mention it incase anyone else experiened it as well and got confused. Though I know most tanks tend to keep themselves at 1 and 2 even at the start of the fight
Keeping the moved x and + shapes after they're swapped for a moment would be helpful. You kinda fade them out rather quickly? Just a critique but this video has been an amazing resource, thank you
hey hector i just wanted to say thanks your videos are super great helping me get into savage raiding which is content i enjoy alot i do have a small question being do you use any specific program to make these guides ? id like to try to use visual aids to help my FC mates but im just having a hard time
This is so awesome 😎
Not that it's a big deal but being nit picky, you just mentioned the colours the wrong way around @12:07
But really good, clear guides.
The short follow-ups for adjustments to dealing with mechanics is REALLY good and not something you really see people do.
Might be worth linking these in your decription in case anyone doesn't realise you have a follow-up video.
Hector,
Party finder relies on you for most strategies.
Groups could enter and rapidly know:
"I'm ranged physical. I must be in party 2 and my clock position for this fight will be top right."
Since most PF groups lists "hector strats" in the description, you could easily normalize this the vast majority of groups in PF. It's easier to remember and act on "my position as DNC is top right" then it is to remember which position you happen to have in this group. When PF groups have to choose these things on their own every time it adds at least 2 extra variables to the fight that have to be remembered and acted upon multiple times.
Thank you, Hector!
i would like to thank the salamncas for providing this opportunity of a live time, glory to the salamnca 11/10 would see enrage again
amazing guide. thank you
if it's not too much work, do you think it would be possible in the future to add a timer into the video that shows how far into the fight each mechanic starts? obviously it wouldn't work to have it running the whole time, since you walk back and explain stuff out of order or show things happening slowly sometimes, but just knowing when a cast bar will start would be really helpful to me to know sort of when to use my mit to get the most use out of it during the fight. Your videos have been an absolute life saver and I can't thank you enough for making them! Best Regards, a bard main doing their best
Something I'll definitely look into in the future. I agree that knowing the timings can really help in planning out mitigation!
My ingame name is Hector and with all your guide becoming popular i feel famous lol
Thank you for your guides! You are doing an amazing job!
thanks for the guide!!!(Struggling in PF
Helpful strats:::
Exocleave: LP1 - N, LP2 - S rotate CW
PathoCells: Odds NW, Evens NE (this allows people to preposition easily to their side and less boss rotation)
Transmission: LPs SW/SE (from the pulls I've done, I was able to have two snakes and wings on each side)
Please upvote if you guys find this helpful!
For the cachexia 1 strat to work you have to:
1. Look at your timer and debuff
2. If you have the "wrong color" debuff for your position, look at every color debuff in the raid
3. Compare every color debuff in the raid to where the people with those debuffs are standing
4. Swap with a person who is also a "wrong" color
5. If more than 2 people have the wrong color, you are probably just screwed, because there is no priority for who swaps with who
10/10 best guide
6:24 important note; Synergy does Not target tanks exclusively, but the top two in enmity. Off tank Will need to be building sufficient aggro to ensure they get the second hit BEFORE Synergy starts casting.
So always have Stance on?
@@randominternetsurfersurfin7595 as long as it doesn't cause aggro issues in the pull. Offtank can stance up after opening burst and have enough enmity by the first Synergy cast.
I was wondering why I die randomly as dps and clipped another
Oh lord.... Going into this compared to P5S seems to be massively upped already. Pretty sure when I actually see it and get into it will be fine, but till then. Woof.
I recommended your guides to my raid lead, and we're just starting P6S after using your strats for P5S! Keep on being awesome!
During Agonies 2, it looks like the can also be between a random DPS and a random Tank/Healer. The movement in the video is still the correct way to solve the mech, I was just confused the first time I saw myself tethered to a healer.
Absolutely correct! The tethers can go diagonal, but the actual solution never changes.
I just imagine healers swearing at a screen while franticly pushing buttons during the buster + raidwide + burst window
there is a viera called Caillou commenting on this video, please ignore them.
Dude, you got me saying wiggle during raid!
a lot of these mechanics' names derive from greek, so an easy way to pronounce them is just write the name in google translate in the greek box, for example "choros ixou" and the robot lady will tell you exactly how to pronounce it :D
Thank you!
I noticed a flaw in your animation for the Choros Ixou orbs. The east/west orbs are black with a red halo, whereas the north/south are red with a black halo. If you use visual recognition, it gets confusing on the diagonals if you don't realize this.
8 weeks of reclears and I've never noticed this. Good catch!
For the first Cachexia why the bait needs to go to B and D ? Just stay on your spread position and when your time to bait get inside the hit box
Its strats ment for no communication. How are you going to tell someone this spot isnt open without vc. But its still a bad strat without voice because you have to pay attention to other people stuff
Hello, I am a FFXIV player on the US server, and I also play on the Chinese server with my friends.
The Chinese server will be updated soon, and there is no mature guide yet. I watched your strategy video many times and was deeply inspired. Your guide is simple, efficient, and easy to understand.
Can I get your authorization to repost the guide video to bilibili (A Chinese video website)? I will credit you as the original author and promote your solution.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Man, I've been dashing, sliding, strafing, running and dodging and definitely not enough wiggling.
Thanks!
How do you know which side Choros Ixou cleaves first like N/S or E/W?
Have you thought about designing marching band drills? Lol nice movements
6:23 synergy targets #1 and #2 in enmity and not "both tanks" as stated
Most TBs are like that. Nothing confusing about that.
Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle
Bro carrying the raiding scene on his back.
Tank LB has never been such a god send for cachexia 2
Damn your coachexia is so complicated, o hope my pf will not take this strat for this mech^^
Inject hector's content straight into the veins plz.
