I own 2 - Thompson tools and a Crown “Ellsworth Signature” gouge. These tools are in the same class edge wise and the handle/collet system are superior in my view. Three members in my club have added Robust Tools to their arsenal as well.
Hello. As of now I have the Thomson tools and the Jimmy Clewes scraper with a square shank. Will they all work in the collet system? I’m looking for a quick change solution mainly for sharpening. Thank you
Great video, Mike!!! What downsides have you found compared to USA manufactured tools (C&ST M42, Thompson’s 10v and such)? The flat top is really appealing because I want to use every last molecule of the gouge.
Hey Scott, no downsides at this point. I have found the flutes to be better that those you mentioned and they are about an 1" longer than most other brands. -Mike
Since you are a Robust lathe dealer it's strange that you would demo the Robust tools & handles using a Powermatic lathe and with other Powermatic machines displayed in the background. H'mmm
Why? I have purchased thousands of $$$ from Craft Supply. Love my Robust tool rests and I own a 3520C I use ,at friends and clubs, anything from Harbor Freight to Robust and Oneway. Just not sure what your post means.

I don’t think the square shafts will work but the round shafts should work.
Thanks for sharing that
i like that collet based system. will carter and son's gouges work with these handles?
Yes, Carter and Son tools will fit.

It is just how we have the studio setup. We also didn't want to dirty up a brand new Robust lathe.
