Yes Gene the cast of Modern Girls does deserve a spanking!🤣
The 3 Amigos turned out to be a cult classic. Yes it is somewhat disappointing given the triple talent, but some of the lines in the movie like "plethora" or Steve Martins "we all have our own El Guapo" as well as him telling that girl "I ll be back" and she resonds "why" are just straight hilarious. Along with them singing and dancing at the bar. It could have been better but not every hit is a home run. They have enough here to kerp us entertained. I myself though t all the prior mentioned points of dialog were much funnier than the singing bush
I agree with siskel on Golden child, should've been more like The Ghostbusters - great special effects 👎⭐⭐

Eddie Murphy was never savy at choosing roles or scripts.Golden child while not very good but at least better then many of his numerous klunkers.
I was 12 going on 13 when I saw the Golden Child in the movie theater. While it wasn't great, as a kid, I thought it was fun. I love how Ebert calls Eddie's scratching "disco music". Amazingly, at one point, John Carpenter was going to direct The Golden Child. Instead, we got Michael Richie (Fletch, Bad News Bears).
I also saw Three Amigos on my 13th b'day. I thought, with the talent involved, it was going to be a classic. Sadly, I was very bored by it. Oh, there were a few classic moments (the invisible horseman, the great songs and El Gupo's birthday sweater), however, everyone in the movie theater was bored on opening night.
I think Carpenter turned it down to do Big Trouble in Little China, which is somewhat similar
@@IgorsDen Carpenter was also set to direct Armed & Dangerous when it was Dan Aykroyd and John Candy set to star. But a month before cameras rolled, both Carpenter & Aykroyd dropped out. The studio was going to pull the plug on the film, but Candy, who stayed on the film because he had moved his family down from Canada and needed to pay for the house he just brought, convinced the studio not to. He ended up switching his role to the Aykroyd part and convinced the studio to hire Eugene Levy for the role that HE was originally going to play. They hired Commando director Mark Lester to shoot the film.
Considering Harold Ramis wrote the film for himself to direct with Aykroyd and Belushi to star, the production of that film ended up being more entertaining than the film itself.
I'm glad they like Golden Child, but they are way off base with Three Amigos. It's a brilliant comedy.

Well, Gene liked some aspects of it. I agree it's flawed, but I have enjoyed watching it over the years.
Modern Girls SUCKED but it is a nice time capsule of young women in a big city in the mid 80s, worth a look just for the soundtrack and fashion.
