Karate Kid 2 is a great sequel. And who would have thought that over 30 years later, the "Cobra Kai" series would continue the Karate Kid story? And would be one of the best series ever!!

@@pepsiguy52883just rewatched it. Really one of the worst buddy cop movies I've seen. Poor example from a pointless genre.

Even Siskel made few pointers on Running Scared including the car chase they mentioned, I liked it anyway, i also like Karate kid 2 👍🌟🌟🌟

When I was in 7th Grade, my middle school drama club got to take a day long field trip to be extras in American Anthem. The big Gymnastics competition was filmed at the Phoenix Civic Plaza. The production crew came out with boxes full of camera flashes and handed them out to many people in the crowd. It's funny how Gene and Roger would comment on the distracting camera flashes.
And yes, they're right, it's a terrible movie. But I'm in that crowd somewhere.

It has a good soundtrack and I rented the movie to see Andy Taylor's music video of Take It Easy after the movie. Still, bad film though.

In my honest opinion this is my 2nd favorite movie of all time the karate kid is my favorite. I think I will give this movie in A- I will say I like that Daniel fight better than any other one. It was much more inthen any others. Now that they've brought it back in covert Kai I still like than the karate kid. But I still think this movie was awesome. Is pink part III is where they really. Messed it up a little.

Running Scared goes right up there as one of the best cop buddy films with Stakeout, Lethal Weapon 1 & 2 and Midnight Run! It is an 80s classic.
As for Karate Kid 2, if the first one was four stars then Part 2 is at least 3 stars. Simply a good film.
As for Legal Eagles, it is fun to see Robert Redford in a light comedy role again even if the murder mystery isn't all that good.

Ebert - it's MiyaGi-do karate, not MiyaJi. LOL.

Yeah KK2 wasn't as good as the first movie, but what sequel is? I don't think their ideas were very good. The audience for Karate Kid was primarily teenagers and kids. They didn't want to see a drama about Miyagi with little or no fighting.

As I said I was 5 years old in 1986 so you are correct I did miss the most important parts of the decade but as I look back at the last 40 years of my life the history good and bad I remember the little taste of the 80s that I got in my life and the world in general and I wish I could have experienced more.... the 90s were boring and the last twenty years were filled with war and tragedy and divisiveness so yes I may not have experienced the 80s but I do miss the 80s and all the pop culture that came with it

Gene works my nerves. Jesus Christ could have beenin a movie directed by Martin Scorsese and he would still give it a thumbs down. " That cross scene just didn't work for me, all moaning supposedly from the pain just wasn't convincing enough for me, thumbs down...lmbo.

Sure KK 2 can’t be as good as the first, but they still expanded it very well to actually include more Miyagi (not Miya-gee dammit!!!). And the final fight is even more impactful because it’s for life, not for points.

I was quite impressed by how "progressive" the film was for that time. You had a strong, intelligent female lead who took control at times. I was entertained but agree that Hannah's character was a bit too much. The film would have probably worked well without her.

This was before they went to Disney in 1986. This was when they moved out of public TV to syndication, which was Tribune Entertainment. They were here for four years.

Karate Kid 2 has some nice elements but the uncle and his nephew give two of the worst supporting performances and cheesiest dialogue I`ve seen in a major movie......

    • @mjacobsable
