Night of Ideas 2024, Santa Cruz Edition - Looking forward to our 2025 Event!

Looking Back: Night of Ideas 2024 - and Forward, with « Common Ground », the Official Theme for the Night of Ideas 2025 Series!
At the first ever Santa Cruz Night of Ideas, the Center for Public Philosophy welcomed over 200 attendees from all walks of life, bringing with them a diversity of perspectives and a shared hunger for knowledge.
The Night of Ideas is an international event held every year across the world, curating a variety of speakers, panels, performances, artworks and discussions in order to bring philosophy - in all its different forms - to the public. A sort of magic happens when “academics” and “pedestrians” come together and share conversation about things which are important to us all.
2024’s theme, “Outside the Lines”, was embraced by the variety of presenters, speakers, and the public alike, fostering exploration of questions such as
-How can we use music, art and poetry to inform our world view?
-How can we engage ourselves in a variety of perspectives, both inside and outside academia?
With performances by El Sistema and Estrellas de Esperanza, an exhibition
walkthrough by IAS director and curator Rachel Nelson, and a screening by
Kalie Granier, as well as a variety of talks incorporating vibrant topics
such as technology, poetry, utopia and liberation, Night of Ideas 2024 is a night we will be thinking about as we enter the future which seems to question, challenge, and transverse the lines we’ve known in the past.
