In Genova there was a bridge to nowhere until recently (it got demolished about one year ago) because whoever designed it thought that trains could climb 25 meters vertical "alignments" (one section of the bridge was 25m taller than it needed to be)
Actually there IS a real Bridge that was started from each side to meet in the middle. It was off right when you were over the river so there was a slight s-jog to connect. Not long in length but enough to notice driving. The bridge was recently expanded, so the imperfection is no longer there.
