    Good day. I'm 59 years old & got into kayaking last August to work through some family losses. I'm still working through them & kayaking has been the perfect therapy. I would love to be a TH-cam Influencer but my word has to be good for that to happen. This is my honest review of the Reel Yak Rubicon 11. I'm not telling you not to buy this product. That is for you to decide & maybe I just got dealt a lemon. I don't know. I know I'm going to try the Pelican Getaway. You get what you pay for & the Rubicon is feature rich but purpose, function & practicality were sacrificed.
    In June I bought a Pelican Catch PWR 100. It was a few hundred dollars less but like all Pelican boats functional & practical. Using the same battery & motor.
    This was originally posted in February but got toggled to "Private" somehow. Reposting.

    Bought this kayak and love it! I think you're misunderstood what you bought. You bought a mid-range kayak, if you want to add batteries and the like then its going to require some DIY to add wiring and the like. I drilled the holes for this and added it, it was super simple. It doesn't come with a motor so don't expect it to be kitted out for when you add one, if you don't like how the paddle moves when you add a trolling motor buy a Yak Attack paddle holder to add to the accessory rail. As for being worn out after 5min using a pedal drive system, its called exercise, you're using your legs which are your biggest muscles, its going to hard at first if you're unfit..

      Is the seating blocking the rudder control handle really that bad?

  • @Dodgegriff
    @Dodgegriff หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Take the spacers off of the cables on the rudder and then tighten it down and you have zero slack in your rudder. If you want to run a fish finder or anything electric it's pretty simple. Buy an automotive firewall grommet. Drill a hole behind the seat up high into the rear compartment. Put your wire through the grommet and silicone around the wire. The paddle issue is really a minor issue in the grand scheme of it. if your rudder is tightened properly it will not hit your seat. The fin pedal drive is really not that hard to pedal.
    I recommend this kayak. If anyone would like to see how I have my fish finder setup and wired, don't hesitate to reach out.

    I can somewhat agree to the rudder steering , have that same issue with my slayer propel however , there is a way yourself for a few dollars to incorporate a spring washer behind the handle that supplies more tension the tighter you tighten it. The hatch thing , hatches are meant to only be used in an emergency on the water on a sit on top, its not really meant to be something you go in and out of a lot if it has access to the inside. Its really only for when you beach somewhere , or if you camp overnight on an island for like camping gear etc , load em up with dry bags. The compartment behind the seat , you can easy put in a 60 amp quick disconnect for operating a trolling motor that can go on the side. That kayak is not specifically designed to take a trolling motor , those half round spots are for aftermarket wheels like the boondocks wheels. So one , a battery compartment is not even a feature on this kayak. Two its not suppose to have a motor on it , nor was it designed for that in that location. Final thoughts , Its a cheap pedal drive kayak , for what you paid for it , I would be surprised for it even to float. Its actually quite a good kayak for that kind of money. I have some similar issues with my autopilot old town 136 , my wilderness systems radars and my native watercraft propels. All of which are 1000's more than this kayak. One thing you quickly learn with kayaks , you buy them to mostly do what you want them to do , then whatever it does not do , you improvise and you overcome. No one kayak has ever fully satisfied anyone. Hopefully in your future reviews , be less critical and more flexible. It goes a long ways to show problems and to also modify or have knowledge of how to modify to overcome them. I spent my entire life being critical of stupid designs but I also learn from my father to overcome said designs with improvements. In this day , almost nothing can you throw cash at it and get a 100 percent satisfactory item.

    I have had mine for over a year now. I love it because it is half the price of a lot of them and for the price you won't find a lot better. I've been kayaking for years. I think maybe you might need a little bit of experience before doing reviews. Yes, some of the things you fuss about are true if you are used to a $4000 setup, just sayin.

    I call you a liar, saying paddle 2 hours with hands never gets tired then you get exhausted after 5 minutes with your feet, common, can we be a little honest, or you have 5 years girls legs?

  • @JSabh

    Lol OK. So you nit picked everything despite it working as described...you do know that it's affordable for a reason yes? It's not difficult to adjust the steering, seems to work actually. Oh and this thing called glue, super cheap and some has super in the name..try that with the floor dipwad. You are the "get off my lawn " old guy of kayaks.

    So you bought ,what I’m guessing is , the cheapest pedal kayak available and it’s badly designed and poorly put together. Now you know why a lot of the other brands cost what they do. They spend time in R&D and use better materials. You get what you pay for in most circumstances.

    Staying alive on a small lake? If you can't swim, maybe you shouldn't be kayaking buddy 😂

    • @HendroRydes
      @HendroRydes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a common misconception thinking kayaking & swimming are mutually inclusive. In kayaking, bad captaining of one makes necessary the other. Whereas a good skipper with a good boat has swimming in the toolbox in the event of acts of God. Like a condom or a gun. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Point is, it's my choice if I go swimming when kayaking but never the intent. Have a wonderful day.
