    I like your videos, but your while your voice is pleasant to listen to, allow me to get right to the point...
    I own both the Shure SM58 and the Sennheiser e945, and the Sennheiser is CLEARLY superior for vocals. You can tell the differences IMMEDIATELY. The Sennheiser is heavier in the hand, but delivers better in all areas of measurement, from highs, to mids, to lows. I simply plugged both mics into the same speaker array, and the differences are dramatic. The 945 is also around 3-decibels louder, as well. Shures are always reliable and tough as nails, but for just a bit more money, go with the Sennheiser for singing, hands down.

      I've got a strong feeling it is the best mid-priced "stage" mic you will find, closely followed by the AE6100 and beta58, differentiation comes down to taste at this point

    • @OogieWa
      @OogieWa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradmodd7856 We had to cancel the gig, guitarist sprained his ankle, but I've used it a coupe of times with the guys when we've practiced, and it definitely has made an improvement over the inexpensive mic I had before. Much better clarity, I can get used to how proximity works easily. A touch less deep bass than I'd hoped, but there isn't much out there for the price point that would be better.

    I just order the e945 for my live performances. I'm more baritone/lower tenor Country.
    Even thought the ess is a little pronounce, I will EQ that around the 8-10k to control it live.

    hello Mr. Browne. Im video journalist for HRT, working like one man band, filming, editing. For interviews in loud enviroment for few years i had revox M3500 (bayerdynamics M201) which i bought on flee market for 30 quid. Few days ago i sold mi revox for 150 quid and bought Sennheiser e945 new. Now i realize how good revox was, how good sooun it had. E945 is little too bright for me, too sibilant. I wish i watched this video before.
    Nice singing on the end. Im subscribed now. Greetings from Croatia.

    Bought the e945 a week ago and used for the first time this past friday on a gig. To me the e945 is made for used close to the grill and it gives you more clarity and full bottom end than the SM58.
    (Check it side by side on gig environment).
    With flat eq the SM58 sounds a little moody while the e945 sounds more clear and detailed. It seems to me I am using a condenser mic but with that boost on upper mids and treble that cut throught the mix easely.
    Very nice mic.

    • @jimsy5530
      @jimsy5530 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not for me. It exagerates sibilants too much, and also ends up sounding breathy, proximity effect is quite repressed too. Oddly, I prefer the cheaper 845, which is clear enough for me, but also hides my deficiencies when mic'd.

    I own both of these models and this review shows why the SM58 is the industry standard, the shure has a fuller over all tone with more prominent lower mids. The e945 has great detailed top end sparkle, however this does come at the cost of low end warmth.

  • @UglyBunnyJase
    @UglyBunnyJase 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Love you voice! I just got the e945 after 20 years of gigging the SM58. Just need something that cuts through a bit with more articulation. There are some songs and parts where I need to sing quietly and the 58 just doesn’t cut through; it’s mainly boominess and low end. Fingers crossed!

    • @tomspiller2449
      @tomspiller2449 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AntonBrowne Well for me I love the sound of the lows and mids. Sounds very warming and more of a darker sound. And it also gives your vocals more body to them. I've tried other dynamic mics some more brighter but the sm58 sounds perfect for me. In my opinion I dont really care for mics that sound all to bright. And the beauty of the sm58 is its only $100 usd. So you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a really good mic. In my opinion out of all the mics that you have tested and compared I think the Akg 535 sounds the best on your vocals compared to some of those really expensive mics that you have been comparing.

      Certainly nothing special (sadly). I think it would have been a Mackie Profx8 or an old Mackie desk (very good actually) into an old Edirol interface. Both good enough for 'live' stage mics but I'd like higher-end one day.

    The e945 is superior when you need a mic to cut through a mix. It is far superior to the SM58 in this regard. It also rejects stage volume better. It is and has been one of my go to mics. The only dynamic I like better is the legendary M80.

    I find it works best with a big band situation, where that upper mid helps the lead vocal to cut through a lot of noise, but still sound present.
    IME, it's a little too bitey and gets fatiguing for solo/trio acts after a few songs.

      Hi Rondon, I think what matters most is how they sound and respond. I don't think you buy a mic because it's supercardioid, you buy it because it suits you voice and style and that's what I try to show . The e945 has a switch so it can be either cardioid or supercardioid.
