After watching Scrapman's more advanced build and then watching Blitz' noob build, it's pretty entertaining to see him struggling like this and slowly discover more and more to this game
It's kind of like seeing a Ferrari hand built by Scrapman and then Blitz comes in smashing all the shaped blocks into the same shaped hole. I mean, whether by correct application of devices or by adding MOAR POWAH!!!!!!, the result ends up just about the same. Can't blame Blitz for going to the obvious solution, plus it's more entertaining to see his approach of, "More is more."

So it's less of a question of whether or not you want to break the sound barrier and more of a question of whether or not you want to break the sound barrier without any exploits or glitches. With the exploits and glitches, it's actually super easy; barely an inconvenience. If you're doing it legit, you have to min/max a lot. Scrapman's done quite a bit on it and he'll get you into the ballpark of what is the more important thing to focus on. Because you could break the sound barrier by strapping as many rocket engines as will fit onto a go-kart seat and YOLO YEET-ing yourself into oblivion. But to get it into an actual race vehicle is a different story. Also if you REALLY want to break the game in terms of speed, go check out the Space Bound map. No sound barrier breaking there (as much) because you're in the void of space. There are planets with atmospheres meaning if you dive into an atmosphere doing 5,000mph, you get an automatic sonic boom, but most creators have already broken the game. Like the speedometer has gone to glitchy madness because there's no map end. You go from one end and then you're warped to the other side. So you can keep going. With no atmosphere, there's no air resistance meaning aerodynamics is more of an aesthetic than a requirement. To give you an idea of how stupidly fast you can go, projectiles in this game don't conserve momentum well. You can fire something out of a cannon while moving 2000 mph, but odds are is that if you're shooting it straight forward in space, you're going to run into it. The projectiles are programmed to conserve momentum when their shot, but once they leave the barrel, they stop accelerating. They also leave the barrel going so fast, meaning if you're firing in reverse, you can get to the speed where the projectile just sits there after you've fired it. Faster than that and the thing will chase you. You can literally go faster than bullets in the Space Bound Map. Just make sure to do it in peaceful creative, otherwise you'll get interrupted with your experiments.

The sound barrier in mph is roughly 767 mph. In kph it's about 1,234 kph, but I think it's closer to 1,237. But as long as you remember 767 and 1234, you know the ballpark of mach 1 in mph and kph.
When you added more thrusters and thought you gained 11 seconds, it is likely that you actually were competing in a different league due to the added power cores and beat your previous in that league by 11 seconds.

This game cares for wind resistance. Like EXTREMELY. It can make the difference between being a slowpoke and a cruise missile.
