fully convinced the board wanted you to feel save with the first prompt only to land the big punches xD
I agree! I swear it thinks it's funny.
Always love to watch these so much! Even though the board started out a little mean, it went pretty fast after that. 😊 So excited for so many of your reads to see what you think.
I wait for these videos every month - and this time I decided to play along and pick books for my tbr! It was so fun!
This was a pretty decent month to play along with haha it was only moderately mean. Interested to hear if you are successful in reading your books for the month!
Stephanie you remind me in the personality I see of a work colleague. I definitely love your book choices so now I'm subscribed- Hello from Aotearoa 😊
Me: ohhh only 26 minutes long! The board was nice 🤩
The board: gives horrible rolls 💀
You: well I was already planning to read this chunker that fits the prompt 😏
Elantris is so good btw!
haha I know! It felt like a short game but then when I picked up the stack it was NOT short!
I'm looking forward to rereading Elantris, it's been a while and I really enjoyed it.
Thick stack, but all potentially great books. I actually really enjoyed Elantris. I wish there was more to the story
Me too. He is going to write a sequel, so I'm really looking forward to that.
The board chose chaos😂 the stack looks chunky hopefully this month goes well!! ❤
I know, it's a LOT of pages haha but I think this month will be successful.
Re-reading the cosmere sounds amazing I'm hoping to get some more of the way through it but it always intimidates me 🙈
This looks like a great tbr to start the year with. I hope you enjoy them all
I honestly am so glad I didn't realize how intimidating the Cosmere is when I first started with Sanderson. But I get it, it's so much. It's so worth it, though!
@stephaniesbookverse1098 it really is I haven't read much just like first era mistborn aha
So excited to get more Elantris Books (in about 4 years, but at least they made it to the planning board). I haven’t read Stormlight Archive yet, but it is my favourite world by far
You have a pretty good size TBR. Can’t wait to hear all your thoughts on them. I read Spark of the Everflame and really enjoyed it. Gave it 4 stars. I hope you like it too!
I'm really hoping I enjoy it! It sounds great, really interesting. But sometimes romantasy just doesn't do the fantasy and plot well so it's hit of miss for me.
You definitely have a thick stack this round. Good luck!
Thank you Melanie!
The board was pretty nice. It just didn't want you to get too confident right off the bat in the new year. I hope your reads go well. My first book is an arc called Gothictown by Emily Carpenter. So far, I am really enjoying it. Happy New Year.
haha it's true, wanted to make sure I knew it could be mean if it wanted. I'm glad you're enjoying your first read of the year, setting the tone.
I really liked Elantris as well, there are some great characters in it. Good luck with your TBR. I'm tackling Wind & Truth as well this month, haha.
It's such an undertaking just to read Wind and Truth haha it's like 3 books in itself.

❤📚🎉
Happy New Year.
Elantris was my first Sanderson read, and I really enjoyed it.
Life gets so busy. We definitely understand.
I hope you enjoy your first reads of 2025! 😊
Thanks so much! I honestly really enjoyed Elantris, I'm excited to reread it.
I’ve started the year of with Revelation Space by Alister Reynolds. It’s taxing my brain a bit. Good luck with your stack
Thank you! I hope it gets better as you read, that can be a little hard to enjoy sometimes it if it takes too much brain power.
Yay for TBR Star Hop! That looks like a promising stack of books! Hope you can get to all of them and find some new favorites.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I know, I think there will definitely be some 5 star reads in there.
Also I have The Fae Bride on my TBR for January/February.
Life tossed all my reading plans in December so I've squeezed a few of the books I wanted to read in then into the beginning of January. I just finished The Return of the Light: Twelve Tales from Around the World for the Winter Solstice by Carolyn McVickar Edwards and The Dead of Winter: Ten Classic Tales for Chilling Nights edited by Cecily Gayford. Both solid 4 Stars. Now I'm on to a book that fits a prompt on a TBRathon game board - Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson. I stayed up late last night reading it so that bodes well. Not sure if it will end up being the "5 Star Prediction" that was the prompt, but it's definitely a page turner.
That title sounds so entertaining! I feel like my December was the same. I didn't have super high hopes for my reading last month, but I at least expected it to be a little better than it was lol. I rolled over a few books, too, so I'm determined for January to be a better reading month.
I am also reading Wind and Truth and I am also in the “love Elantris” team, it’s Brandon Sanderson and I found it great and emotional. I will try to join the reread when I finish Wind and Truth 😅 I am so excited for Spark of the Everflame, it’s been in my reading list for a while now.
I hope you can join! I mean, Elantris is a standalone and you've already read it, so you can always jump in with Mistborn and catch up on Elantris in a month you aren't reading a book over 1,300 pages haha
I started this year by reading Beartown by Fredrik Backman
Oooh deep start. I have heard great things about that book, though!
I'm also in the mood for all the long fantasy books. I'm currently reading two: Heir of Fire, which was a roll-over from 2024 and These Gossamer Strings by Allegra Pescatore (third book in the last gift trilogy), which was the first book i started in 2025. I hope you enjoy your reads!
I looked up These Gossamer Strings and the cover is so pretty! I hope you love it and it starts off your 2025 reading right.
My first book is A Sorceress Comes To Call by T Kingfisher. Only have like 100 pages left so will hopefully finish my first book of 2025 today 😊
My goal is to finish the Stormlight Archives this year but I’m also reading The Faithful and the Fallen series so that’s two chunky series to get through!
Are you enjoying A Sorceress Comes to Call? I'm really excited to read it, I want to get to it this year.
Those really are 2 chunky series! And pretty complex as well, so takes brain power. Good luck! I love them both so much.
Need a readathon
Wayward children series has a new book releasing on the 7th of January!
haha so I might be caught up for like a day 😂
i've started with Heavenly Tyrant after finishing 24 with a reread of Iron Widow.
I know, it wasn't too bad, just some chunky ones on there. I hope you like it, I've seen really good things about that duology.
The board picks chaos, but I think the board is telling you need to catch up on some series.
It really is. And not subtly.
The board choose chaos lol I would love to read all Brandon Sanderson from start to finish what’s the best order x
I think starting with Mistborn is a really safe place. But if you would like to start with a standalone I would recommend Elantris, Warbreaker, or Tress of the Emerald Sea. I hope you love it!!
🥰🥰🥰
I just realized I wasn't subscribed to you. I have watched your videos for a while now and noticed I wasn't. It has been fixed now. lol
I went slow in my reading in December 2024 due to the holidays and because I wanted to do other things last month. 🎄
Yeah, my December was my worst reading month in years haha but I'm ok with it because I was so busy.
I'm giving Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio another go, but it's long. 😅 After, I want to read The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne!
haha 2 really long books in a row! Good luck!
I’m so excited for Spark of the Everflame. Romantasy is also hit or miss for me but I’ve heard really good things about this one.
I have such high hopes! It seems like more people who have similar taste to me have been enjoying it, so we'll see 🤞
My first read of 2025 is a Malice by John Gwynne re read
I read this in December! So good! 5 stars for me, I hope you enjoy it ❤
Our first buddy read ever!!
I am also reading the zodiac academy the shadow princess. Heres to 2025!
Nice! I feel like I just have to have the right expectations and just have fun with it.
First read of 2025 is The Hero of Ages. I'm on pg 82 and really enjoying it so far. 😀
One of my favorite books ever! I wish I could read it again for the first time. I hope you love it!
i didn`t know the faes bride is lgbt?! can someone tell me what kind of rep is in there ?
@@Jasonie it's not the main relationship, it's a side relationship, their neighbors are a m/m couple.
@@stephaniesbookverse1098 oh ok thank you !
I'm in the middle of two books so I don't know what I'll end up finishing first.
I usually am, but this time I think I'm going to try to focus on Wind and Truth.
My first read of 2025 is also a Brandon Sanderson and a reread: The Final Empire/Mistborn so I can officially start my journey with his adult fantasy.
It's always a safe choice to go with a reread that you know you love for your first read. I hope you love your journey in the Cosmere, it's amazing!
Thank you! I’m enjoying my reread and eager to continue the series. I can’t stop thinking about it.
I think the first book I finish for the year is going to be His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik. But I’m also listing to Warbreaker so we will see what one I fisnish first.
I love Warbreaker, and I've been wanting to read that series by Naomi Novik forever because I love her other books.
Hey, I have a question. 😅 Why do you go back to the beginning when you step on the first wormhole? I remember that at the beginning of these tbrs you didn't do that (because it's not a black hole and there are no previous wormholes 😅) Why it's changed ?😅
I was so disappointed in Wind and Truth. I wrestled between giving it two stars (I barely made it through) and three stars (it was an okay book). Honestly, I'm not looking forward to any of the six through ten books that are planned for the series.
Dang. I'm hoping I love it more than you, Sanderson's endings have always been great for me so fingers crossed. I'd be very sad since it's been my most anticipated book for so long.
