Just happy to be here in the New Year, had a scare in hospital, still fighting off the infection but hopefully will be well again in a few weeks. Hadn’t tuned into the channel much in 2024 due to external commitments taking up all the time (further study, work and family). Going to pick up some books from your 2024 wrap up as we’ve similar reading tastes. Worried have missed so many good reads (wouldn’t have had the time to read them), will have to catch up on the vids this year. Though want to scroll less to read more also. Don’t watch TV just movies so should rapidly increase my reading this year (though video games might pull the reading down a bit). Always enjoy your recommendations and reviews, thanks for running your channel Mike.
Great stream thanks and really interesting point Christopher made about the depiction of religion in fantasy. It’s so true that religion is often depicted as a means of control, and a nuanced, philosophical consideration of faith is rare. From memory, I think narnia and the northern lights series are the only two I can think of that go deeper on that subject matter and interestingly they both have very different takes on it.
Ahh I didn't know Christopher was a Christian. All of that was very true, most authors have like deconstructed faith, or dont understand it. And they always do it in such a boring, honestly naïve way. I think I'm going to try Prince of Nothing this year, and im interested to make up my mind about it and get into a deep world. Should be fun! I'm actually way more interested in reading Sun Eater now (Im already on Empire of Silence).
I know this is Not a comment on the live But In regards to Andrews Issues issues with Drizzt being the only Good Drow, Salvatore spent a lot of books Altering that cause it's a thing he never really meant to do. He basically blames the way the drought are on Their evil deity Such that they don't worship her because they're evil it's That she's evil and makes them worship her. I think the past 9 books Has spent some focus on the city of Menzoberranzan Moving away from her worship
I felt similarly about The Lighthouse when I finished watching it in the theater for the first time. The acting and ambience was great, but I didn’t really understand the point of it……. Until I got it on blu ray and watched it with subtitles. Being able to read the words made the whole thing click and I was utterly shaken by the end. One of those rare instances where a rewatch changed my entire perception of a movie and it’s one of my favorites now.
That was a great livestream. Thank you for having it Mike and for everyone for participating.

Happy new year. Great stream 🎉
Have realised every book I read is three or four books for other readers. Fantasy page count is high.
Gentlemen, do you plan to read "Lord Fouls Bane" by Stephen R. Donaldson. This book/trilogy is responsible for getting me into Fantasy.
Twisters was fun. Not a masterpiece by any means before someone dogs it lol But a lot of fun to watch
I think it was masterpiece
