Hope all is well with your ticker. Had 3 heart attacks myself. Love your content. Been playing Tau since they came out (yes I’m that old) and have about 12k of them. They are the army I most love and always appreciate your insight.
Love the Hammerheads for their alpha strike ability. I use 2 in my RC army with Shadow sun next door so I can keep my stealth suits safe for my crisis teams round 2. Always very nasty 😁
I have been running a mix, the hammerhead has always been better into certain targets, and the skyray. I'm running ret cadre, I find sunforged scratches a lot of the itches hammerheads do (s10 vs 20 is weirdly parsimonius both AP5 damage "reliably high"), but they are much harder to keep alive due to range. So 1 hammerhead, 1 sunforged bomb and 2 skyrays has been about the right quantity of anti tank. I am looking at the broadsides too. And the ionhead. I do have 5 of these hulls but for now I'm running ret cadre. If the tigershark doesn't eat a nerf next update I might have to consider them, but I think everyone expects them to eat a nerf because they're fliers. Oh also one funny play with vespids and "bad uppy downy": if you go first you can pick them up in your turn and if the opponent leaves an objective empty in their own turn, rapid ingress on to it, score primary and pick them up again in your next turn. Also really hope it's "just" stress or nothing you can't recover fully from. I've had a heart scare but it was just anxiety caused the men on my side of the family dying young and that was bad enough. So please recover quickly and well.
I love Sky Rays in Kauyon(keeps its alpha potential, so it becomes increasingly more effective as Sustained Hits become active) and I love Hammerheads in Mont'Ka(aggressive move forward to dump your alpha into a prime, high value target. ABCs loves Lethal as well). They both work in the other detachments, but have areas where they distinguish themselves. And they can also work well together. A Sky Ray taking out a transport, followed by a Hammerhead with an Ion Cannon attacking what comes running out of the wreackage, is just peak efficiency. The opposite can also be true. A Railgun Hammerhead and 2 Seeker Missiles has better Alpha damage potential than the Sky Ray(more likely to take out a transport) and then the Sky Ray can fire upon the Heavy Elites that comes out with its 3 S14 attacks. If this happens as early as turn 1, you might have several turns where you just smack them with high strength attacks from across the board. I am not a fan of Broadsides(love the model though). Very slow(decent in Mont'Ka), which makes them predictable, and only a "decent" threat against opposing heavies. D6+1 damage is just very different than D6+6, even with 2 shots. 2 shots and no built-in rerolls, with the D6+1 damage profile, makes it overall very swingy. Can have decent Alpha with the Seeker Missile option, but it will most likely not take out a transport on its own on a single activation, unless you have 2 of them in the unit(which means more VP for your opponent, as that will be a minimum of 16 wounds). T6 also means that they are fairly vulnerable to everything from typical Plasma and Melta weaponry(3+ to wound) to Lascannons and Hunter-Killers(2+ to wound), in a way that the T10 chassis is not(5+ and 3+ respectively). They are not "bad", just very specialized and niche, in my opinon.
Ahhh, what better way to procrastinate at work than by watching my favourite Aussie Wargamer.
P.s. please don't die 😂😂

I like the stealth criticism of 8th edition.
Be well Sir! thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into sharing your gaming knowledge :)
Love my hammerhead I never leave home without 1 and a unit of broadsides
Great video Jay!
rules got updated again!!! tidewalls scout moves are no longer limited by movement speed
Not optimal, but I've been having fun overlapping Skyray's bonus to hit flying with Razorshark's bonus to hit non fly.

The Hammerhead LOS area is dark and full of terrors

Jeez heart health is serious stuff be well dude
Mate i used two hammers. Railguns in montka. Strike swiftly. Both get scout 6. Hunt the tanks/monsters. Love it
yeeewww
So crazy you hate guiding. This is the most tau rule I've seen for them since I started. And absolutely love it
Yeah it's annoying me in tourneys. It makes sense but as a mechanic I'm not a fan more and more
