The guy next to him didn’t really say any of that. I made it all up to waste your time, and also to surprise you. In fact, it wasn’t even really his first day to play football. I made that up, too. Believe it or not, he knew what to do. He just chose not to do it for some reason. Surprise!

You could see the blood vessels in the Jets coach’s head look like they were going to explode when you are down 33-0 in the 4th quarter and the Patriots are jockeying for prime field position with Mickey Mouse’s penalties.

It wasn't to run down the clock, it was to give the punter more room to kick without causing a touch-back. Still stingy considering field position for the jets meant virtually nothing at that point. It's just funny that Gase refused to let Bill have his way.

I don't get the penalty
Trust me, it's a more common call than you might think. There are entire _compilations_ of "false start, everyone but the center" on TH-cam.
As for why the call is done like that...by definition, the play starts when the center snaps the ball. So when the center fails to snap the ball at the right time, by definition everyone _else_ has false-started even though it's the center's fault for not snapping the ball.

I remember watching a game years back, and the referee made the call of "False start, entire offensive line" I lost it. Damn near peed my pants. LOL
It’s funny to me that they call the penalty on the entire line instead of calling the penalty on the center lol the definition of “false start” doesn’t necessarily mean “to start early” it means “to start incorrectly” so by the center not snapping the ball when he is supposed to, he is technically the one enacting the infraction.
@@blpanthers00 A false start is not "to start incorrectly", a false start is movement by an o-lineman before the ball is snapped. The ball was never snapped so, the call was correct.
