      If you were to read this aloud you would of said it through a giant hole in your head 🙃

  • @Tracebebo
    @Tracebebo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The board sounds sick! Probably something I would've done differently as far as sound goes, I would've had the rate on the chorus much slower, so you'd still have that vibe but it's a little less vibrato-y. Maybe that sounds is a bit more akin to shoegaze altogether, but the slow rate is more just my personal taste with chorus nowadays haha.

    This is really awesome. Are all of your pedals going through the front of your amp, or do you have some of them plugged into an FX loop? As a still somewhat new guitarist I’ve read that effects like reverb, chorus, etc. are considered better-sounding when used in an FX loop but I wasn’t sure if this rule applied for shoegaze.

    • @JAM-rp6fi
      @JAM-rp6fi ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't really apply as much in shoegaze considering the biggest differentiating factor between it and other genres is that the reverb tends to come before your gain staging, but that shouldn't stop you from experimenting. Try stuff out and see what you like. :)

    I loved the song! what's it called?

  • @Lynx33PL
    @Lynx33PL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Very nice build. Just to confirm, the pedal order is from left to right? As in delay first, fuzz last? The fuzz after reverb is somewhat intuitive in the Shoegaze context, but I often see those two pedals near the beginning of the chain which always struck me as a bit inflexible. Your order looks like it could suit many different genres, not just Shoegaze which I think is really clever.

    • @noisegenerator
      @noisegenerator  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thanks! The pedal order is actually right->left, but I walked through the order backwards for some reason without really thinking about it. My bad! So yeah, on this board the fuzz is before the reverb, but the drive is after it. I like fuzz after reverb, but sometimes it's a little much depending on the fuzz (and I actually don't think Kevin Shields did reverb into fuzz all that much, but that's a different discussion haha) and having some drive after reverb really works for me

    • @Lynx33PL
      @Lynx33PL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@noisegenerator Guess I bamboozled myself but it did inspire me to try running delay first in the chain, which offers surprisingly viable results. Anyway, thanks for the clarification. It just goes to show that there are many good ways to arrange the board, even within a seemingly narrow context of a singular genre (Shoegaze).

    • @noisegenerator
      @noisegenerator  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Lynx33PL Totally! There are a bunch of ways you could route this board and I think all of them would yield some pretty cool results! It's all about experimentation :)

  • @Tezcati

    I have most of these pedals except for the Surveyor and the Boss reverb but I can replace that with the Keeley Parallax which has a reverse and soft focus reverbs. I can't find the Surveyor on Reverb but I found the Dude Incredible which is one half a Surveyor. But don't feel like spending 300 for this, is there a good substitute for that one?

  • @TheEclecticEmcee
    @TheEclecticEmcee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    It felt a little strange to be walked through the pedals in reverse order, but I appreciate the board! Given the same pedals I would've chained them the same way

    • @noisegenerator
      @noisegenerator  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      You know, I didn't even think about it while I was making the video, but now that you mention it I don't really know why I went backwards and it is kinda weird haha 🤷 Thank you!

    The Polymoon is terrible, the whole early Meris line really is fucking awful. The design to alter you settings is hidden, and poorly laid out, I had the whole collection, easly 1500 in pedals and fav switch, I replaced them with pedals with controls you can acutally access.
