The Green Mile (1999) Synopsis: Frank Darabont’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Paul, the head guard of a prison, meets an inmate, John, an African American who is accused of murdering two girls. His life changes drastically when he discovers that John has a special gift.

Thinking this should win an Oscar every year.... love this same as shawshank redemption. the only thing here is that Percy should have been done with worse every time they won... the feeling of not being able to do anything for the good people in the film (world) breaks me every time..

Francisco Hernandez john was innocent, he didn’t kill Katie and Cora. instead wild bill raped and murdered them but it looked like John killed them. they had no proof to set john free.

Entire scene is incredible. The look of worry, confusion, and stress becomes pure bliss with such a slow reaction to it. This is god tier face acting. I don't have to pee but I feel satisfied just watching this.
The scene where Percy kills mr jingles is actually 2 separate scenes. One of him stomping on a fake mouse followed by a seamless transition to a fake dead mouse. Incredible editing, make it look like 1 scene.

One of them films that made me feel spiritual and realise how precious life is, how our time is limited and how isolation can feel, knowing our doom no matter how much we repent our wrongdoings cannot change the past, so we simply should make the most of it and enjoy what we have as humans.

Not so fun fact: they put the mask on so the eyes don't pop blood everywhere
Pretty sure thats untrue, theres a place where they used to shock the person, then get them checked then do it again, this happened a few times over and due to this the body would heat up alot and may in some cases cause the eyes to melt, but never pop out and never in the first shocking.

These have got to be the worst prison guards in history. Always letting themselves get grabbed by the inmates

I dunno, it was only Bascombe, Percy, and the older guard. And, some of the prisoners, were pretty smooth and didn't telegraph their intentions, beforehand! Even someone slow, can catch a faster opponent offguard, if they don't show their intentions. Brutal, Bascombe, and, Percy, ALL were caught by surprise, or, in Brutal's case, victim of curiosity.
I still cry just watching highlights. It is a wonderful movie

American Beauty was a fantastic movie, but the Green Mile was simply breathtaking in its power to move you.
This movie is probably the second best I've ever seen. I most certainly agree. It deserved an Oscar for sure

This is a movie based on stephen king's novel of the same name.
Supposedly the guy was inspired to write it after watching a mouse scampering into its hidey-hole.
This is one of the movie that one could watch several times and not get bored.

Ive never seen American Beauty, but no movie to date has shaken my emotions and tore my heart into pieces like The Green Mile. The standard is set incredibly high. I think any movie to surpass this will be incredibly rare for me.

The Green Mile should've won Best Picture and have Michael Clarke Duncan be nominated and win for Best Supporting Actor!!!! This is one of the greatest films of all time! And it's directed by the same director who made the Shawshank Redemption which was also a novel by Stephen King.

@@oscarpeters5309 no one simply has a gift like that, that hasn’t been ordained by God. He works through people, just as the devil does. I just find it odd the same man who wrote Carrie and Pet Cemetery also wrote this. Gotta admire Mr. King’s versatility in storytelling

One of the best adaption of the Novel. I have read the Book. But, the movie is modified appropriately making to suitable for movie watchers.
The book was also good. Especially, way the author explains the scene when Paul, Brutus along with Coffey come to Hal's house to help Melinda is very nice. He explains how everyone present in this scene feels helpless, how John Coffey seem to have taken complete control over everyone.
