    Tyra’s “I went to 25 go-sees in one day on the metro and I made them all” feels like the model equivalent of “I walked ten miles to school uphill both ways in the snow every day”.

      If Tyra spent 8 hours going to 25 go-sees, that's less than 20 minutes a stop including travel time.
      Even at 12 hours that's less than 30 minutes per stop including travel time.
      Idk the average go see time, but I imagine that's incredibly fast

      They wanted to gaslight her because she was being smart and effective with her time. I'm sure had she been alone, without an ENTIRE camera crew, on a nationally televised show, she probably wouldn't have asked a stranger for help. She wasn't hurt, and she made her go sees; which was the point. Maybe they felt some type of way about how they dropped the ball with Adrianne and were projecting it onto her? Feels kinda like that, but be mad at yourselves, what does that have to do with Robin?

    • @jydakota95
      @jydakota95 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      They definitely approached that conversation wrong, they definitely treated it like she’d broken a rule or given herself at an unfair advantage rather than that she’d done something that in any other circumstance you shouldn’t do. The only statement that I think could mean they were worried about her safety was “I would never advise a young model to do what you did today” and part of that sounds a bit like they’re covering their bases so they don’t seem like they’re recommending it to viewers. Objectively it is potentially dangerous to rely on a stranger to direct you where you’re going all day. He could’ve taken her anywhere. Granted she was being followed by a camera crew so the danger in this situation was low, that doesn’t mean she should do it in the future.

    • @OpticalSorcerer
      @OpticalSorcerer ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@jydakota95 The problem for me was that they were back and forrh with their reasoning; at first they asked her if she felt like she cheated, and then said it was unsafe to do. Doing both makes the judges lose credibility, and even if they just stuck to believing she cheated, there was nowhere in the rules that she couldn't ask for help.

    I just googled Brad Pinkert. His hometown newspaper, The Buffalo News, printed a story about his appearance on ANTM. They wrote: “He was only in Paris for about 16 hours, getting a few days of notice to make plans for the trip in March.” A few days? We knew this wasn’t a coincidence, but that’s proof, I’d say. Also, at the time he was also a construction worker, in addition to being a model. He wasn’t famous, and I think the show took advantage of him as well as the girls.

    The thing that kind of bugged me about when they told Adrianne to push her hair back with the headband, is, earlier in this same episode the man at the modelling agency told her to wear her hair and bangs down. He was like, "Are you throwing your hair up and back because it's easy?" So it's just another example of a girl being told one thing, then punished for following directions. Also the fact that no one helped her when that awful man touched her is just gross and terrible, and scary.

      @HigherSelfTarot ปีที่แล้ว +38

      I know this sounds awful to say, but based on this show’s track record for doing whatever they can in order to have drama to film…
      I honestly wonder if the guy who assaulted Adrianne was a paid actor of the show. Of course Adrianne would have no idea because the producers would want a genuine reaction from her. I kind of think that’s why his face was blurred out to protect his identity and that’s also why no one approached him or contacted police. I mean, he did that RIGHT in front of an entire camera crew and he looked like he was dressed by Tyra herself trying to create the most stereotypical version of a homeless creeper she could think of.
      I wouldn’t put it past ANTM to coordinate something like that just to get people to tune into the show. Especially because it was the very first season and they needed to attract a large audience.

    • @stephw.7874
      @stephw.7874 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@HigherSelfTarot I actually was wondering that myself. I thought that man was either very dumb or very bold to just straight up assault her in public, in broad daylight, and with a camera crew literally filming the whole interaction (as evidence). For whatever reason, he either didn't think about getting caught or just straight up assumed he wouldn't face any consequences for his actions. If the show really wanted to, they could take the footage to the police and report the incident. I mean they got the guy's actual face on camera while it was happening. There is a chance the police could locate who the guy is and prosecute him.

      Not normal. But way too common. I understand what you are saying that though. I was a teen in the 80's. I remember all kinds of sh:t that boys/men (strangers, bosses, friends of my boyfriends) did to me from age 10 onward. This cr@p has always happened and is STILL happening. Boys/men need to to be held accountable, not encouraged to treat women like garbage. And seeing women be a part of the enabling is truly awful. This does make me wonder if Shannon got the lesson from her agent or a friend in the modeling world about how things ACTUALLY work after this show, and brought it with her to All Stars. I single out Shannon specifically because in the All Stars season she was on, she was very firm about not doing underwear or nude shoots, to the point that the judges eliminated her for not doing an underwear shoot (possibly with a male model, my memory is fuzzy). She presented it as a personal moral line (something like "underwear is something I only want my partner to see me in"), but I do wonder if that was the show cutting around her trying to say that it's an issue of informed consent and respect on the job. I think she was like 19 in this season and obviously didn't have any real, professional modeling experience (that's one of the requirements to be on the show, I'm pretty sure) so she wouldn't have necessarily had the knowledge about how things really are/should be at the time.

      @MalloryNewcomb ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Shannon got it worked into her contract with Elite (the agency she was with before all stars and alluded to in the first episode) that she would not be doing underwear. Usually they did not do this so it showed Elite still had a lot of faith in her that she could book for other castings and honestly it’s no sweat off their back because they can send so many other girls to a casting for lingerie
      Also the production staff of all stars took her for a ride: when they called her to give the pitch about All Stars she told them about how she doesn’t shoot underwear anymore and they explicitly said to her that was not an issue. So her beef was that she was brought onto All Stars under false pretenses.

    You know I think I know why they did this they made Robin look like she could had gotten hurt for asking a stranger for help and yet ignored and negated Adrian when she actually got harassed and hurt in a way it’s like they where shifting the audiences attention off of them and onto someone else

    The only way Tyra could go on 25 go sees is if there were like 6 agencies in one building…because I’m assuming agencies aren’t open at 6am or 11pm? But I don’t know anything 😂

    The fact that they addressed the fact that robin got help from a local to go around a city and not talking about adrienne. That probably means that the camera crew were instructed not to intervene. Which is kindda F if it's the case.
    Basically they want them to struggle alone in a foreign city, so Robin asking for help was crossing the line, but adrienne s.a wasn't because she didn't receive help.

    Oh-ho-ho! The next episode will be a roller coaster--a nightmare roller coaster. It may be difficult to react to it all, but it's worth a shot. Also, for this photoshoot, it made me realize that my former co-worker was right--these photoshoots were total jokes. Nothing marketable about MOST photos on ANTM.
    Side note: I don't like Robyn at all, but the show REALLY did her dirty.

    Ok...this feels like as if they picked some shady photographer who usually does p*rn shootings, but for a very low price.
    Everytime I watch an ANTM reaction I feel more appreciative for GNTM. We have a lot of shady moments too, but the overall quality is 10x better and Heidi doesn't disrespect models boundaries for entertainment. At least not to this concerning degree.

    I think this was the first photoshoot I've seen where all the final pictures were bad. And it was all on the photographer, since his job was to make sure the models were posing so the lingerie was highlighted. Of the ones where you could see the lingerie, the cropping and quality was atrocious. Those things are beyond the models' control.
    The judges' double standard with regards to Adrianne and Robin was sickening. Robin WAS using her brain; she knew she had a camera crew following her, so she reasonably assumed that the French man wasn't going to harm her since they were being filmed. She got scolded for smartly doing something that nobody had told her was against any rules. On the other hand, the camera crew didn't even intervene when the stranger was inappropriate towards Adrianne. None of them thought about stepping in after he touched her the first time? They should have been fired.

    The shoot was weirdly sleezy like the photographer.
    You said "Models are people, too." The shows always made me feel like they are not. They are just bodies who are used to show clothes and items, they are not allowed to have any personality or any feelings. And I think there were times when (younger) models were treated like that. Same with actresses etc. Luckily, this kind of thinking is dying.

    I learned a lot of the time the camera crew is asked not to interfere with anything so everything is as "authentic" as possible, but if I were a camera person on the show and saw that, the camera would come down and the gloves would come off. No one has the right to touch people without consent. Even on the photoshoot! I agree with Jessica. Whenever I wanted to adjust even the smallest things on my models during photoshoots, I would ask permission, especially when they couldn't do it themselves. The guy going up and just touching them gave me the ick! Honestly, he gave me ick vibes in general. He joins the pervert category for this episode for me.

    I think the male model knew they weren't comfortable so it was awkward for all of them. I feel this wasn't representative of a pro photoshoot as you said, Jess. I noticed when I tried freelance modeling the shoots would usually turn more sexual or they'd ask if I was OK to strip down which is why I got out of it. In the moment it's harder to say no because it catches you off guard and you're there to get pictures and experience.

    It's good to see how much, at least the top model program has changed. In Holland next top model they have different genders, sizes, non-binary, transgender, etc. And they also say with the makeovers for example, if you don't want to do it, you don't have to. Because your mental state is more important. And they also really keep the models in mind with what they've been through. I think that is really awesome how far they've gone.
    And they give great direction! This all looks super amaturistic.
    So much less created drama, yet it's still entertaining to watch.
