The works that they are playing are not popular, but it is art. The composers are trying to do art, to discover new music, new ways of expressions, timber, forms, structures, composition strategies.
We can't live in a museum and play only the great masters of the 15-20th centuries.
Rachmaninoff is a great composer, and his music is played a lot by another ensembles, soloist and orchestras. This ensemble is giving a place for new music, and in my opinion, it should be that way.
